El Zopilote Mojado (EZM) is located in Plaza Mexiamora, a small tranquil plaza where locals and travelers alike gather to relax and meet their friends. There is an elementary school in the plaza and one morning I came upon the school children practicing marching. It was wonderful to see the little slices of life that unfolded here. One of the...

WE stayed here for 3 days in August. We were a family of 4 and this suited us perfectly as we took all three rooms above the cafe with 2 bathrooms - it was like having a private apartment. The rooms were clean and pleasant , the beds reasonably comfortable and the location is great - very central and close...

This delightful guest house is right in the center of the charming city of Guanajuato (which to my mind beats San Miguel de Allende hands down!) You'll have to climb some steps to get to it (along one of the town's enticing alleys) but it's definitely worth it for the comfortable and fantastically appointed rooms. Quirky, charming, relaxing, friendly --...

My boyfriend and I spent three nights here in January. We had a lovely visit. Me gustaria Guanajuato! We stayed on the 3rd floor of the Perros Muertos house- in the Bufa room. Just like the website and other travelers have said, this is not for people who are not in pretty decent shape. The stairs are narrow and by...

El Zopilote is a mellow place to rest your weary self after hiking up and down Guanajuanto's many hills. I stayed in the Amarillo room (in the bright blue building above the cafe) for five nights. Yes, you have to walk across a common area to get to the bathroom but there's usually no one in the common area (which...

Spent 4 wonderful nights at this totally unique and enjoyable establishment. Some our friends were skeptical when we told them we were staying at the "dunked buzzard". We were actually up the street at the "dead dog". Great room with very "Mexican" decor and good cross ventilation, wonderful bathroom with large tub - one of the best bathrooms I've ever...

Nice bathrooms.Great place if two couples or friends travelling together as there is a shared living area. Great cafe below with local arts for sale and the best coffee in Guanajuato. I just returned from a week in Mexico and spent several nights at the Zopilote Mojado. The Zopilote is a beautiful little hotel situated in the downtown of Guanajuato. The Amarillo room where I stayed has a small balcony that overlooks the plaza where I enjoyed watching the comings and goings of the local residents. The rooftop patio is a...

We don't have any experience with other hotels in Guanajuato, but El Zopilote Mojado was recommended to us as the best place to stay by someone who does and it has to be the best buy in town. A great location - central and on a lovely plazuela - at a super price. The room was very clean, safe, and...
