We lucked out by finding a room at the Hotel San Diego after our Saturday night hostel reservation had been cancelled. Miraculously, this hotel was cheaper than our room in the hostel, but had everything I could have asked for in a hotel. A giant bed, which was more comfortable than most I experienced in Mexico. Flat screen TV, radio,...

Stayed at this hotel for eight nights and have zero complaints. The hotel is located in a not so attractive area in the fringes of centro historico. Even though this area may have lacked beauty it made up for it with all the cafes and cantinas that lined the street. We ate at several and were all delicious and reasonably...

Hotel San Diego is a very good alternative in Mexico DF. In fact, it offers a good price, not too expensive, but not too cheap to be considered as a place for just some hours... The rooms are clean, the staff very friendly. Besides that, the hotel has a very good location : a few blocks from Alameda Central, and...

The Hotel San Diego is a room to put your stuff and a bed to sleep on, and that is about it. But for the price, it was everything I wanted in our Mexico City hotel. The hotel is at a nice location, close to the subway stop and the Zocalo, as well as a few parks and markets. The...

This is hotel was clean, had good service, included free wireless internet, and was centrally located (in Mexico City's historic centre), near a metro station on Line 1. A few cute cantinas, cafés and restaurants are nearby if you'd like Mexican antojitos. Otherwise, you can (safely) walk to the Zocalo, or grab an inexpensive cab to some other neighbourhood. Directly...

Hotel Sandiego is a great budget hotel to stay in while enjoying Mexico City. You are able to walk to the Zocalo, the rooms are large and clean & the service is pretty great! There is also a restaurant in the hotel for those night when you don't feel like going out! We will be staying there again when we...

I have stayed at many hotels in Mexico City and Hotel San Diego is one of my favorites for under 25 dollar hotels - I paid 250 pesos for a single; for two people it is 300 pesos. You get a much better hotel room here than comparably priced hotels around the zocolo. The street, Luis Moya, is relatively deserted...

Staying in Alameda

Neighbourhood Profile
Alameda
This beautiful park was once the playground for the wealthiest families in the colonial era, and is now the perfect place where locals and visitors can spend a sunny weekend afternoon to relax or shop for souvenirs at the market. Kids can run around or grab a bite of cotton candy while teens and adults wander around admiring the charming gardens and the sculptures that adorn it. Once the heat rises, it may be time to visit one of the many cozy restaurants or cafés with its characteristic art nouveau facades to cool down and call it a day.
