If you are interested in staying in the historic center of Mexico City, this hotel is a great choice. It is very beautiful, with art deco styling throughout. The rooms are well appointed and also quite lovely. Every employee we encountered, especially Heriberto, Cynthia, and Rosa, went out of their way to provide the best service possible. They were so friendly, always greeting us with a smile and a "Buenos tardes!" If you stay here, be sure to eat in the restaurant located at the top of the hotel, over looking the Zocalo. It is GORGEOUS and the service is incredible. The Saturday and Sunday brunch is especially memorable, with dozens of dishes ranging from standard European pastries to local Mexican specialties like chicken in mole sauce, cochinita pibil, and freshly prepared squash blossom quesadillas. We ate here every morning of our stay and never got tired of it, which is saying something because neither of us like eating the same things again and again. It didn't matter here, though! There was so much to choose from, and it was all so delicious we couldn't wait to go back every morning. The restaurant is popular with both tourists and locals. In the popular hours, it is extremely lively, filled with local families enjoying a fancy brunch. Even if you don't stay here, make brunch here a priority on your day of seeing the Zocalo. There is one thing I would like to warn future travelers about - if I were to stay here again (and I would!) I would definitely opt to pay more for a room facing the Zocalo. Not because of the view (which is lovely), but because our street facing view was also the opera-singing-buskers facing view, which made afternoon naps after a long day of sightseeing impossible. Be warned. I don't think they charge extra for the view, I think they charge extra for the lack of opera singers! If you are looking for a place to stay in Mexico City, and you like being the hustle and bustle of a major historic center, this is a great place.

Dear Amy, It is amazing to read such wonderful words about your experience at Gran Hotel Ciudad de México and we are so pleased to know that you really enjoyed every second during your stay. It was a pleasure that the building, the art Nouveau style and the hospitality were to your liking. We always want that every guest can have memorable moments that is why we always served with passion and love, your congratulations will be sent to Heriberto, Cynthia, and Rosa. As for the Terraza restaurant, we are enchanted by the way you describe the brunch and the buffet and you appreciated the tasty food and the atmosphere. If you prefer, on your next reservation, you can choose an internal room, which is perfect for a quiet and peaceful rest, also as you mentioned a Zócalo view can also be an option as we have blackouts as well as soundproof windows. Allow us to have the pleasure to welcome you back so soon and continue to create together memorable moments. Warm regards,

We spent 3 nights at the beautiful Gran Hotel Ciudad de Mexico, This is one of the most beautiful places at which we've ever stayed. The public spaces are truly grand especially the stain glass ceiling. The rooms were well appointed, beds comfortable and the Terrace Restaurant offered a terrific view of Zocalo Square. But the best part was the staff.. from check-in to check-out our experience was wonderful. We had a slight issue with the room air conditioning and could not have been more pleased with the fast, professional response. Truly a first class hotel! We were especially pleased with staff members Cynthia at the Front Desk, Bellman Victor and Doorman/Bellman Jose Luis. They remembered our names and addressed us each time we entered and truly provided great personal and professional service. We hope to be back soon!

From the moment we entered the hotel I felt every employee did an excellent job from a service point of view. This historic hotel has luxurious rooms that stand out from run of the mill chain hotels with drab decor and impersonal service. The location of this hotel, on one of the corners of Zocalo make it an ideal location if your stay involves touring historic sites, shopping at Madero or visiting the Museo de Bellas Artes. The lobby of this hotel is as impressive as the service and the rooftop restaurant where you will be treated like royalty by all the staff. I forget many names but Miriam and Diego stood out.

Location wise - good! Be aware of the street noise if you are in the first floor! Musty odor while we entered the room! Our room was changed to second floor after a leak in the bathroom! The front desk allowed the change after the maintenance couldn’t fix it! Breakfast was good! Lot of shopping near by!

This grand old beauty is an oasis in a historic and central (and noisy) part of CDMX: as soon as you walk up the marble steps (below the gorgeous chandelier) the sounds of the city fall away and you are met with quiet elegance. The customer service is above reproach, the rooms are spacious with comfortable beds, automatic blackout curtains, large closet space, huge bathroom and shower. After check in, the bellman will take you and your luggage to your floor in the original elevator. They then respectfully ask that you use the modern elevators for the remainder of your stay so as to ensure the continued long life of the original (which is over 100 years old). The restaurant view is amazing and it is open between 9am-11pm. The food (especially the breakfast buffet) was delicious and the service excellent. I could go on and on about this great hotel! Highly recommend!

Yes it’s GORGEOUS, historic, and elegant. That’s it!!! Rooms are big but outdated. You gotta use the regular ordinary elevator, that old fancy one you can only use it once. If you want to use it again, you get an attitude. Check in was fast and with a bubbly. You get a really cool dessert with your last name, so pretty you don’t want to eat it. Everyone that is outside greeting people are VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE, speak English, and will give you great suggestions. The top level is a bar restaurant, amazing view ….. blah food. Drinks were not what I expected even for a very basic margarita for crying out loud!! I was extremely disappointed on the beverages! It’s in a great place though, but I’m my opinion not worth the price. It’s close to the palacio de Bella’s artes, torre latino, desserts shops, mini mall, Mercado de artesanías , palacio postal, templo mayor, china town, fancy restaurants and mom and pop’s eateries with amazing food. You must be willing to walk, if you’re used to walking no big deal. If you need a taxi, they can get one for you.

My husband, daughter and I stayed for 4 nights at this truly grand hotel. The interior is gorgeous, especially the stained glass ceiling. The restaurant on the top floor had open-air views of the Zocalo. Breakfast (included) each morning featured a vast buffet of Mexican specialties as well as eggs cooked to order. The staff was courteous and very helpful, especially Victor the doorman and the front desk staff (Rosa, Daniela, and Enrique). We were welcomed with bubbly and a plate of sweets. The only glitch was a very uncomfortable sofa bed but the staff quickly brought a comfortable cot. We highly recommend this hotel.

First impression is the four story lobby covered with stain glass. The rooms are quite large and of a grand style of of older hotels. A buffet breakfast is served on the rooftop overlooking the Zocola which is very active with gatherings. Choice for nearby dinning spots for dinner are limited, with most closing in the late afternoon, but the hotels rooftop restaurant is a good, convenient choice. The hotel is a great location in the center of Mexico City.

What a nice place. The food is incredible and it is a price-quality place, if you are thinking of visiting Mexico City this hotel is the best of all not only for the price but also for the excellent location it has and the pleasant attention it receives of each and every one of the employees of the place, it has an impeccable cleanliness considering how we are currently due to the pandemic in addition to the fact that the rooms are perfectly tidy and clean, without a doubt one of the best places where you can stay for know each of the paradises of Mexico City
