This hotel was originally a convent built in the XVIth century. It was renovated in the mid-to-late 1970s into a hotel. The building, it's hallways, Bougainvillea covered courtyards, restaurants, etc are truly beautiful. My friends and I booked "Exterior View Master Suites", which are not "suites" in the traditional sense. They are rooms that are slightly larger than the regular...

Stayed for 3 nights end of February. Somewhat irritated to be told on arrival that our 'suite' (room) had 2 double beds and that there was no other room available with one large bed, only one chair though! However, a very comfortable and excellent nights sleep, 2 windows one facing onto quiet side street and another overlooking courtyard but room...

Colonial elegance, excellent service, charming rooms, well appointed, excellent beds, charming atmosphere. What more can I say? We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The first room we were in had beautiful old Mexican tile in the large bathroom, but on Friday night the outside room was a bit noisy from street traffic. We were moved to an interior room near the...

On a Friday night, the hotel hosted a dinner with folklorico dancing for entertainment. We did not sign up for this in time to be included. The event takes place in the old chapel which has been preserved with all its stone walls and floors and is a kind of huge empty cavern in the middle of the hotel. Streamers...

This is certainly one of the most impressive colonial buildings in town. It is certainly worthwhile to drop by an walk through its gardens and maybe even have a drink! The quality of the rooms and its functionality are not the best for a 5-star hotel. Suites are actually small rooms with a big bed. While staff are always very...

My husband and I recently spent five days at the Quinta Real Oaxaca. The hotel is a 400 year- old convent that has been converted to a five-star hotel. The building is quite fascinating and the restoration done with great taste. There are lots of wonderful garden spaces and fountains. There is also a small pool area and a small...

The hotel is really beautiful, specially at night when the lights are low and you can appreciate the beauty of the all convent. The rooms are not incredible but they have charm and they are clean and comfortable. It is difficult to make spectacular rooms with a place that has been around for hundreds of years. Yet, this hotel is...

We were pleased with our stay at Quinta Real. The location is perfect for sightseeing As well as for sleeping. The street is quiet and the windows are almost soundproof. We were first given a regular room, too small to move around in, too difficult to plug into convenient outlets, but were moved to a much better room. Even with...

We went to Oaxaca for a wedding of our friend's daughter. Having never been there, we relied, as we always do on the recommendations of Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed in the least. The basis of the hotel is a convent, later prison, later municipal offices in the heart of the historic district of Oaxaca. The hotel is set...
