We were pleasantly surprised that this charming hotel offered more at a better price than any other accommodations in the central historical district of Oaxaca. It is located near Llano Park, right on several public bus routes. There are several courtyard areas where you can choose to mingle with other guests, or find your own little private space. The included...

We made the choice to stay in las Mariposas because of the reviews we read in this page, yesterday we checked out and I really wanted to make an opinion about the hotel. My two sisters, my mom and I stayed for 6 days, and we absolutely loved everything about it... well, except for the owner's dog, which I think...

This was a perfect place to stay - very relaxing, friendly atmosphere, not for those looking for an upscale, spa-like hotel. Las Mariposas is more for travelers who are interested in meeting others.

The hotel is very nice and quiet with rooms surrounded by charming patios full of plants and decoration. Our room was basic but decent.

Once you enter the well-manicured grounds of this "hotel" (I use the term loosely because it does not feel like a hotel), you would never know you are in a downtown area of the city as the birds sing inside the many patios and open areas. The green and blossoming plants are a nice relaxing touch to the grounds. My...

I spent a week at Las Mariposas with my college-age daughter, who selected it for us after studying in Oaxaca for a semester. It is conveniently located in the central city but not too close to the main tourist area and an easy walk to the sights. Rooms and apartments are off attractive courtyards and are comfortable, inexpensive, and very...

Spend a quiet morning or afternoon, reading in the hammock on a flowered patio with birds and the occasional butterfly. Stretch out on the kingsize bed, with fragrant air wafting through the shutters. Las Mariposas staff puts out coffee and toast every morning, and makes the rooms and patios sparkle; it's easiest if you know a few words of Spanish,...

best experience: good atmosphere, good breakfast with great Cafe de Olla, lovely and quiet courtyards with trees and birds, bad experiences: none!!! good located near the "Llano"-park and the ADO-busstation, all "must-see's" in the inner-city within a 15-minutes-walk, suggested restaurants nearby.

Decent rooms and a good location close to Park Benito Juarez. However, unfortunately the young man at the front desk was rude, so it's hard to recommend this hotel.
