I had an amazing time staying in Akumal Hostel. It was my second time in San Cristobal and it couldn't have been better. I planed to stay for 2 days and ended up staying in the hostel for one week. Manuela is an absolutely sweatheart, caretaking und helfully. It felt more like home and staying with friends than just strangers....

When in San Cristobal stay here! And if they don't have space for you go there anyway to simply hang and participate in that instantly homely atmosphere. Facilities as well as location, breakfast, price and personnel (incl. dog) are top notch!

Stayed here in a private room for 2 nights with my partner. Initial impressions were fairly good - as previous reviewers have said; this is a cosy, friendly hostel and the layout/atmosphere encourages social interaction between guests which we liked. The room was spacious and fairly well-appointed, and the breakfast was delicious (lovely freshly-cooked omelette and homemade bread). However, we...

The Hostal has a big potential, I blame the staff, I mean they are extremly nice, helpful and really friendly but the Hostal needs more love and attention. The staff are living the same life as the visitors Which is good in a certain way but you probably need to hire a "camarera" guys. I believe pictures are worth a...

It has been now my third time, staying in San Cristobal and the third time in Hostal Akumal. For me the best choice in this beautiful city. I arrived from Mexico City early in the morning and came right in time to real breakfast time. Self-baked fresh bread, coffee and eggs with vegetables. Best breakfast, thanks Manu. The owners are...

the best part of this hostel is not the awesome building, or how close it is to everything, or the dog! but the plain and simple fact that you are family at hostel akumal, from first time guest to long term friend, you are treated with the utmost respect, and accepted as part of the family. my stay in san...

I'm not sure if it was because the owners were away & someone was minding this hostel but we (a couple) didn't have the greatest experience here, however the staff were nice enough. We arrived after check-in and were told clean sheets were on their way.. They didn't arrive until 9pm (we were so tired from a 19hr bus ride!)...

Planned to stay 2 nights but ended up staying for 5 nights. Great place, I felt home directly when the owner offered me a beer:). Breakfast is pretty good and beds were nice. It's a small hostel but I consider it the most cozy hostel in Mexico!

First, Erick is the nicest person ever. He is very helpful, friendly, and will go out of his way to arrange things for you. We got both private rooms and the dorm. The rooms are comfortable, what you would expect from a hostel. The shower is VERY hot, and the internet is one of the fastest we got in hostels....
