Daniel, the owner was very nice and welcoming me. He has a hostel where you can feel like home! I really liked the wall art. I had a nice and clean private room with aircon, a king size bed, and it was so comfortable, i loved my bed. I was the only guest in the hostel, but that was ok (low season!) Daniel has been a very good host, we were cooking together, planting aloe very in his garden and had nice conversations, he also gave me a lot of tipps etc. He has two pets,a very beautiful dog called cosmos, such a calm and great dog, and a cute cat. Had a great stay there! Thank you very much! Can totally recommend this place!

We only stayed there for one night before our flight to Cuba but everything went smooth and we were even allowed to backup our images in case the camera gets stolen. The free breakfast was good and we slept well in the big bed we had. Bathroom was good aswell.

I hate the fact that the property's employees are not properly trained and their system is poorly managed. I reserved for 4 nights paid already upfront. 1st night went smoothly and On the 2nd night some other guest was trying to occupy my bed and said that she reserved it. I told her to speak with the front desk because obviously there is a mix up. On my 3rd night I came back late because of a day trip and somebody is already occupying my bed. I literally put my bag on my bed early that morning to make sure what happened the previous night nobody occupies it. I went to the front desk calmly asked why is there somebody occupying my bed. The girl at the front desk Phillipa asked to see my receipt. I showed her my receipt and booking document. She apologized and said there seems to be mistake so she said I she will moved me to another room. I bit my lip and took all my belongings from my previous room because I cant fault the girl that was occupying my bed because it was the hostels mistake. As I finished setting up bed and about to go to sleep. Some bearded man (I don't know if its the owner or manager ) came in with 2 girls with their backpacks and said I cant stay there and I have to move to another bed because they are fully booked. I was already getting annoyed and said you already moved me once and now you want me to move again? I thought let me humor him and show me the room. The guy literally took me to the kitchen with a mattress on the floor with dogs sleeping next to me. I blew my lid and cursed him out. I went back to the 2nd room and literally sat on the bed and said I'm not moving until you figure something out. After 10 minutes a skinny guy came in and apologizing profusely saying that it was a employee error and I can stay sleep in there. Now the poor 2 backpackers literally have 2 share a almost twin sized bed for the night. I mean I like the property. They are clean and has a decent WiFi and air-conditioning and its location is right in downtown Cancun but the service and they way the manager or owner treated me as a guest is totally unacceptable in any standards.

Probably the best hostel I've been to in terms of friendly accommodating staff, homely service, friendly travelers. The daily home-cooked breakfasts were not only good-valued, freshly made but also provided opportunities to meet and socialize with other visitors and travelers. The lady who cooks them is very warm and nice. The kitchen is nicely sized, with many pots and pans. The fridge is always full though, so it could use an upgrade. And the dogs - Seles and Keira - just wonderful companions, endless entertainment. Each morning you're greeted by wonderful kisses by the dogs. The street cats outside are friendly too and can provide you petting opportunities if you calmly wait for them at night, and don't scare them off. There is a salsa bailan class down the street and a gym to stay in shape. And a tienda across from the gym where fresh orange juice, tortas and tortillas are made each morning. There is a nearby lavanderia that can wash your clothes if you like too for 15 pesos per kilo. For dinners, there is a nearby plaza Las Palapas where you can get quality and value priced local food, with the seriously addicting churros and marquesitas for postres. The hamacas are seriously relaxing, while looking up at the sky in the afternoons after heading out to the beach Location - a good walk from ADO but not that far. Across from ADO one can get to Crucero central point to reach the ferries to the lovely Mujeres, colectivos to tranquilo Puerto Morelos or bus to reach the busy Zonas Hoteleria area (R1 line). And ADO to points outside of Cancun or the airport. And if you happen to need a co-working space, Orbis by Plaza de Americas, about 3km nice walk in the morning and at night, has terrific wifi and charges only 100 pesos for a day. The Plaza houses a mall, with a food court and a Cinepolis if you need more diversions. The only cons - perhaps curfew the checkins and returns to better sleep, more consistent cleaning/mopping of the common bathrooms, and common living room/kitchen, and upgraded wifi.

Recently I've been traveling in Central America and Mexico for a few weeks and was ending my trip in Cancun. I stayed there only 2 nights and booked a dorm in 'La Morena' hostel. Hostel is maybe not so bad (new and clean, good breakfasts) but the hostel owner is abusive and violent and tries to solve the problems with threats and by bullying travelers. It was definitely my worst hostel experience ever. The hostel lost my towel and some clothes during laundry (value ca. 60 USD) and La Morena owner instead of helping me (for 2 days I was walking around the city in my pajamas) started to yell at me in front of other guests he basically chased me out of his hostel using offensive words which I cannot even quote here because Tripadvisor policy doesn't allow it. Just for your notice - I was not using any offensive words, I was not yelling, I was just telling him that some of my clothes are missing and I'd like to get them back. At one point he even treated me to call the police because he accused me of trying to cheat him by telling that they have lost my things which I have never gave them for laundry. Not even once he told me he's sorry. To be honest if he just apologized, I would be annoyed but I would just let it go. And please, don't get me wrong, it is not about the lost things - I can buy a new towel, new shirts etc. I truly don't care about it. My problem is with this guy behaviour - the hostel lost my stuff and they treated me like a thief and fraud. Verbal abuse which I have experienced (and I cannot highlight this enough) is not acceptable under any of the circumstances and nobody has the right to treat travelers this way. The hostel owner tried to threat me, humiliate me and ashamed me so that I just leave asap. He did not offer me any refund or compensation. --- To cut the story short - I've booked 2 nights. First day after my arrival (Saturday) I asked if hostel provides a laundry service and if so, how long it would take to wash my clothes. The owner told me that if I leave everything now I could pick it up clean the next day in the afternoon. Since I already had plans for the next day I asked what does he mean by the afternoon - he told me - around 2/4 pm. Just afternoon. I asked him if I should sign my clothes or sth, because I had no bag and everything was just wrapped in a towel, he told me to just leave everything on the floor. I came the next day around 6 pm. None of my clothes were there. The hostel owner told me everything will be back ca. 11 pm cause this is the time when laundry guy usually comes. I told him I have a flight the next day so I really need my clothes back, even if they are still dirty. He was already annoyed with me, threw a racist joke about my nation and told me to relax and come later. I came back the next day at 8 am - still no clothes at the hostel. I spoke with the lady at the reception desk, she told me that: 1. laundry is never being done on Sundays, so she has no idea why the owner told me sth different (exactly the same thing I heard from 2 other hostel employees), 2. I should have receive a receipt that I have gave them my clothes for washing (never got it even though I specifically asked the owner leaving my stuff about it). I asked the reception desk lady if I should give her a list of things which was sent to the laundry, because otherwise how will they know what was mine. She told me it is not necessary and she'll sort this out. She asked me to come after 9 am. I came back just before 10 am - she was still confused and none of my clothes were there. I told her I have my flight in couple of ours so I would appreciate if they return me even dirty clothes, I just need my stuff back. I also told her that I can't check out without my belongings - she said it is absolutely necessary that I leave my room by 11 am, even without my things. I came to Cancun just for 1,5 day so I didn't want to waste a day just sitting in a hostel and waiting for the laundry. We agreed that I can come back about 30 min. before my bus to the airport and everything will be waiting for me. Walking a second day in my pajamas around the city, I came back to the hostel as it was agreed - I found a bag with some of my clothes - others were missing (instead there were things which didn't belong to me). Again I told a guy at the reception desk that some of my stuff are missing, I have to leave within 30 minutes so I ask him to sort this problem out quickly. After 15 minutes annoyed owner came to me to tell me that they did not lose any of things. He did not offer me any refund, when I already put my backpack on he called the laundry guy, but it was already too late for me to wait to find out whether they will find my things or not. I had to pack my backpack on the floor at the reception desk like a hobo while he was still yelling at me that I have to leave his hostel asap (and all of that using very offensive vocabulary).
