First visit to this resort and I never heard of it but was pleasantly surprised. Staff is helpful and do a great job. The huge property is really nice and maintained. The activities and events were great. Food was really good though if you like strong coffee you might be disappointed with the beans/roast they use. Their resort app is useful though a little slow. Wifi is available pretty much all over the property. Some gripes...housekeeping was somewhat inconsistent, dealing with scheduling of personal activities and account charges was wasn't as seamless and transparent as it could have been. Overall, it was a great experience and would go back.

This was our 4th trip to Moon Palace. We like coming here with so many options for restaurants and activities. One of our favorite activities this time was releasing baby sea turtles, an amazing experience available this time of year. We had a different delicious cuisine every night and love the breakfast buffet so everyone can get what they want in the morning. The spa services are always relaxing and comfortable. My kids, age 8 and 5, love the water park area. Sandy was amazing making reservations for an excursion to Tulum and Rio Secreto, getting us to Beach Palace for a day (which does have a much better beach than Moon Palace), and for restaurants. She also planned a great birthday surprise for our daughter. Valentin was an awesome pool server in the water park area and will be a great concierge. Juan Carlos is already a wonderful concierge in the water park area. Alejandro in La Cantina provided great recommendations and amazing service. Our only complaint is to get bigger beds in the family rooms because there is definitely enough room to fit them and it would be much more comfortable sleeping.

A phenomenal experience from start to finish. Impeccable attention to detail, great dining options, and fun atmosphere. Only complaint would be pushy time share people. They can’t take no for an answer but once they do the rest of the trip was pure magic.

Great resort - Staff was excellent and friendly, the food was mostly quite good, especially in the restaurants and the rooms and resort was quite nice. The kids loved the waterpark, kids clubs and unlimited desserts. My wife enjoyed the spa, beach club and pools. I loved it all, especially the other guests at the resort.

My husband and I flew to Cancun for a week of relaxation and pampering. We usually stay at the Moon Palace when there, but we’d never stayed at the new and more exclusive side of the resort until now. The Grand Moon Palace is AMAZING! The service is unbelievably excellent, the food is as scrumptious as any I’ve had in Michelin-rated restaurants, and the activities… oh, the activities! Swimmers: I swam in the ocean twice as evidenced by a jellyfish sting and water itch the first time (who knew water itch was in the ocean?). The second time was much better with a few finds (small stingray, barracuda) because it was clearer and no jellyfish kissed me. The Moon Palace is definitely NOT recommended for snorkelers, but is nice for swimmers because the 1.5 mile beach is sectioned off at about 200m off-shore. And, there’s an Olympic pool, too. Daily Activities: Most of my time was spent walking/running around the property (you can get in a 5-mile run by encircling the property once), strength training in the gym, luxuriating in hydrotherapy in the spa (I had my first seaweed wrap and something else I won’t mention), kayaking, floating round-and-round in the lazy river while reading about backpacking, and, oh yes, visiting the Boulangerie for bonbons, ice cream cones, shakes, frappes/cold brew, chocolate-covered hazelnuts and almonds, pastries, sandwiches, and cakes. Yes, I tried every cake that sounded remotely interesting. This time, I did not partake in all the other available daily activities like games, guacamole making, piñata time, aquacycling, paddleboard yoga, beach volleyball and soccer, mini golf, and bicycling. My husband spent a lot of time in the spa focused on using our resort credits and membership benefits for massages, manicures, and pedicures. He spent most of his days on the beach. We went off property once to snorkel and visit Isla Mujeres (where we’d been before) and Contoy National Park (where we’d not been). The snorkeling wasn’t great, but the tour company was really great. They gave us a nice tour of Contoy showing great respect for the environment and were totally fun on the boat. One of my goals was to go to a different restaurant for every lunch and dinner during our vacation and I was successful. We went out for French, Italian, Peruvian, Lebanese, Mexican, and more. And, of course, we drank a lot. I was often double-fisted wanting to make sure I tried everything. (It’s tough to be double fisted when holding drinks in coconuts.) Our modus operandi was to meet for cocktails at a bar (our favorite is the speakeasy called “The Library”), move to a restaurant, and then see a show at night. Mike loved the wrestling show while I rolled my eyes. Every detail is considered at the Moon Palace and their dedication to service is 5-star! Every time we were walking, we were asked if we wanted a ride; not one employee passed me without a huge smile and “Buenos dias!,” and we were constantly asked if we needed anything else. Little features (like hooks for holding bags in bathroom stalls and purse trees to hang purses next to restaurant tables) are so thoughtful. In the past, we noted concerns and have seen that the Palace listened to us and made changes. One example is that there was an annoying rope holding the pool volleyball net in the Olympic pool. This time we were there, they’d fixed it so it no longer detracted from the lap swimming experience. Thank you! The Best of the Best: Even with such remarkable service, there were still some employees who stood out. Miguel (Cusco): Was so nice and never judged my many, many dinner entrees and desserts. Magdalena (Spa): Focused on my special needs and got help from her excellent manager so Magdalena could provide me with the service that best met my needs. Karen: Karen assisted me through hydrotherapy on two occasions and was remarkable both times. She loves her job and coworkers and treats her clients like royalty. She even helped me practice my Spanish with joy instead of criticism. Karen added little flairs that other assistants did not. For example, she really tried to connect with me as a person and even gave me a scalp massage. The Nativo Teacher (Bean to Bar): She knows her stuff and made sure we all had opportunities to participate in making our own chocolate. Guillermo (Chocolate Experience): It was a joy to learn from Guillermo. He was so committed to making sure everyone in our group enjoyed the experience. He encouraged us to try everything and taught us to appreciate all alcohol types and was so excited when we were able to identify the ingredients in the chocolates. The drivers were so respectful, always asking if we needed a ride and not going so fast as to run over walkers. Concerns and Recommendations: There are a few disconcerting items we discussed with management upon arrival. Some of these included: —VIP registration wasn’t open when we arrived at 6 PM and, yet, the line for non-VIP check-in was really long. Closing it early meant more work for the regular staff and did not show appreciation to your members. —Our room was not available until 9:15 PM. —There is a need for more employees at the lobby bar, Boulangerie, and Coconut Shack. The lines are too long, it takes too long to get your order, and the orders are sometimes incorrect. —Also, I found the fire show disturbing! The music, facemasks, and theme (including enslaving women) were simply inappropriate, especially for a family show. Though there is very little I would change other than the problems above, a few ideas include: —Making hand sanitizer more readily available (especially in restaurants and bars) —Ensure the app is working on all devices and platforms. It worked great on my husband’s iPhone 14 Max, but not on my 14 (not Max). I was unable to consistently use the chat feature (which we REALLY liked so had to rely on his). Also regarding the app, many of the activities were not listed properly. Several did not provide locations for events and some cancelled events still appeared on the app. For example, two of us spent time setting up our cycling bikes only to later learn the class was cancelled. —This is totally minor, but I would appreciate handles in the pool beds in the spa (in the main pool section, not the hot tub). I always flew away when the bubbles were running. A Question: An Olympic pool is 50 meters, but I was told the pool was 47 m. However, my lap times are off when I swim in that pool. I’ve asked on several occasions to have someone measure it and let me know the actual length of the lap lane (between the flip-turns, not the bar). So, how long is it?

The best vacation spot for us. We love the staff. The all were outstanding- from the service with Vanessa handling our reservations, Laura taking great care of us in the lounge at check in,great service at the adult pool with Annabel, Melisa, Danira, Suleima & Alfredo. Jose at the Beach Club, Elsi making gauc & Santiago with Mayan coffee, David & his great service and outstanding jokes at Trattoria, Jade restaurant is amazing and Jesus was as well, and the diamond pool staff with Cristina, Raul, Juan and Gerardo was perfect. Alussa was always so helpful with towels at the wellness pool. The food was great, too! Can’t wait to return.

Oh man, where to begin... this place was absolutely dynamite from start to finish! I read reviews after we booked and was getting worried that we may have made the wrong choice. I couldn't have been more WRONG! From the clean, air conditioned shuttle from the airport, to the moment we left to go home, everyone was incredibly friendly, warm and helpful. I'd say this was the best customer service I've ever seen at a resort. They got us in our room early and brought our bags. We had booked the room with 2 beds for a little savings. We were completely fine with that, but they insisted to send someone up and move some furniture around to assemble a MEGA bed with extra linens and pillows. We stayed for 7 nights, and they came to make up our room, drop off more water and snacks. We never lacked anything. Since we were there a week, we were able to experience almost every restaurant / activity of The Grand. Here are the absolute highlights: #1 TOP Bar recommendation: The Library: This is the speakeasy bar on the bottom floor outside of Casa Mia and La Cantina, across from the bowling alley. It's hidden behind a bookshelf wall. We went here almost every night either before dinner for a pre-cocktail, or after dinner for a nightcap. When I tell you I've never had better customer service, I mean it! Yair and Saul were knowledgeable about all types of tequila, craft cocktails, and would regularly let us sample "off menu" items. They spent time talking with us about the area, their personal lives, asking about ours, and genuinely caring about our experience. They found time to make our day feel special and give a true VIP experience. I wish I could visit them forever! I hope to be back, just to see those guys alone. #1 TOP Restaurant recommendation: This one might be a tie, but I have to give it to Tavola because we ate there 3 separate times! (Tie would be Habibi, and I'll talk about that after) First off, Tavola doesn't require reservations, so lunch or dinner you can grab a spot. Listen when I tell you... their pizza is the best pizza I've had maybe anywhere. That's not an exaggeration. The Pepperoni King and the Meat Lovers were both out of this world. The Truffle Rissotto was top notch, and it's off menu, but they make a Grana Padano pasta in the giant cheese wheel at your table. This is a must! Uriel will make sure to treat you like royalty and also make you laugh. We requested him multiple times and he never disappointed. He would bring us items off menu to try, as well as treats at the end of dinner. He wasn't afraid to steer us in a different direction from what we planned to order, and I'm so grateful for the guidance. Habibi requires reservations, so unfortunately we were only able to eat there once during Lunch. I heard their breakfast is fantastic, but we didn't get to experience it. Rodrigo was wonderful in helping us decide what to get. You absolutely must order the Awarma with poached egg. It was so tender and perfectly seasoned. I wish we could have gone here for dinner, but I guess that's something we get to look forward to next time. #1 TOP Pool Recommendation: We were not traveling with children so we were able to enjoy the adults only Unique Day Club pool most days. Another outstanding customer service experience. The day we got there was quiet, but all the chairs were taken so we settled into a daybed next to the cabanas. We didn't realize it, but the cabanas and daybeds are reserved for Diamond members. The server came over and politely informed us, but because it wasn't busy she said to stay and enjoy it. She brought us drinks and was very friendly. The next few days we just spent our time in the pool. Side note: We swam in every pool on the property and they are all SPARKLINGLY clean and clear. No mucky, cloudy pools here. They really do an amazing job. Anyway, back to Unique Day Club... Ernesto and Alfredo were the two pool side servers that we were with. They were INCREDIBLE! I wore a different bathing suit, different sunglasses, etc every day and they still found us, knew our drinks, and would identify us wherever we were in the pool to check on us. How? I have no idea.. but they never faltered. If you are traveling with kids, the Activity pool is lots of fun. They have contests and events there. The water is a little cooler than the other pools because they also host exercise classes in the morning, but there is always something fun to to do there. The Wellness pool is another great spot, especially in the morning if you want quiet, serene pool time. That is where Los Tacos is. #1 TOP Tip... literally: Tip them. I know it is very expensive to book here, and tipping is not required.. and I don't even think they expect it..but I'm telling you a couple bucks goes a long way! I feel our experience was as amazing as it was because we could tell how much they cared and expressed our gratitude. Word spreads quickly that you appreciate their hard work and they will repay that 10 fold. If you have the means to give people who go above and beyond a few dollars, do. It will make their day and ultimately make your vacation.
