Just back from 10 days in a Honeymoon Suite at the Grand were we celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary. We stayed just before the Thanksgiving crowd hit the resort and we noticed a definite difference once the holiday approached and the crowds starting arriving. Still had a great time and enjoyed the "perks" included in the Honeymoon Suite - the rooms are the same as the Garden View but a Romance Dinner, a Cabana at the Unique pool and few other little perks that were included. Claudia at Los Tacos, Esteban at the bowling alley and Angel who helped us at our Cabana, kept the food and drinks coming and did so with great conversation and a smile. Adan conducted a very helpful Driving School golf lesson that will surely save me many golf balls when we return next November with the kids and play the courses again. We've been coming since 2005 on a regular bases and have stayed at all 3 wings of the resort, but we enjoy the little extras at the Grand - access to the other lobbies, water park for the kids, bowling alley for the family, Spa on site for Mom and a little calmer atmosphere. Sure there are little Hic Ups here and there, but they aren't the fault of the service staff, who work their tails off and deserve every Tip. Is the resort a 5 Star resort? In Mexico - most likely. In the US - probably not, but considering the volume of guests served, the quality of the service and the size of the resort - Palace Resorts does, in our opinion, a damned good job of providing an All-Inclusive family resort.

Hotel's Favourite
This was our 4th trip to Moon Palace. We like coming here with so many options for restaurants and activities. One of our favorite activities this time was releasing baby sea turtles, an amazing experience available this time of year. We had a different delicious cuisine every night and love the breakfast buffet so everyone can get what they want in the morning. The spa services are always relaxing and comfortable. My kids, age 8 and 5, love the water park area. Sandy was amazing making reservations for an excursion to Tulum and Rio Secreto, getting us to Beach Palace for a day (which does have a much better beach than Moon Palace), and for restaurants. She also planned a great birthday surprise for our daughter. Valentin was an awesome pool server in the water park area and will be a great concierge. Juan Carlos is already a wonderful concierge in the water park area. Alejandro in La Cantina provided great recommendations and amazing service. Our only complaint is to get bigger beds in the family rooms because there is definitely enough room to fit them and it would be much more comfortable sleeping.

Moon Palace (Moon Grand) November 2022 Resort Review. My wife and I just returned from another Relaxing Fantastic Vacation at Palace Resorts. We visited Moon Grand at Moon Palace Resort. Moon Palace has four resorts all wrapped up into one. There is the Moon, Grand, Nizuc, Sunrise and the Golf. All are located in the same secured resort located south of Cancun Airport. This is a five star resort and it shows. There are no hidden surprises, It Is All Inclusive! The only expenses you will have is if you want to go on excursions that are not a part of the included resort excursions. First and foremost the staff at Palace Resorts is by far the most enjoyable and friendly we have met on any of our vacations. Every time we go back they treat us like family, because we are. Our vacation starts out by notifying our concierge about our plans for the week. Before our arrival our week is already planned out and set in motion by our diamond concierge. When it comes to the food and accommodations Palace Resorts are definitely 5 Star. It doesn’t matter if you are having breakfast, lunch or dinner you can always find something different and it is always spectacular to eat along with the great serving staff. The chefs will always go out of their way to accommodate. The attention to detail is amazing along with the amazing food! All of the restaurants are fantastic! We enjoyed Japanese, Mexican, Lebanese, Mayan & Caribbean fare this week. Without a doubt, these are all Five Star restaurants! Your choices for dinner are endless. The pools at moon are spectacular along with the wait and entertainment staff! You can usually find a quiet place or a more robust area with lots of fun activities going on throughout the entire day. Drinks and food are always at your fingertips at the pool areas along with the great service from the staff. The adults only pool is very nice if you do not want to be around children all day. The water slide park is also a blast! Moon Palace is a private resort and the other resorts that are even semi close are quite away down the beach to the south, which makes your walks along the beach quiet, peaceful and safe. Due the resorts location, there is quite a bit of sea weed in this area. The staff does a great job cleaning up the sea weed daily along the beach. However, Mother Nature is always going to win this battle. They do have areas for beach volleyball, watersports such as sailing, canoes, etc. If you are more of an ocean person and want to hang out in the ocean all day than I would recommend staying at other Palace Resorts like Beach, Sun, Cancun, Isla Mujeres, Playacar, etc. so you can enjoy a day at these resorts while still staying at Moon. I highly recommend doing this so you can see what the other resorts in the area are also like. If you have children of any age, this is the place for them. There are activities for all ages whether it is raining or not and they will never be bored or ever go hungry! Check out the website and it goes into more detail as to what is available. The spa service is always very enjoyable. Their attention to detail is awesome. There are two spas, one at the Golf resort and the other at the Grand Moon. Felipa & Vanessae, Thank You for our 120 Minute Ant Stress Massage! The following is a shout out to the following staff that made our trip so memorable and special at the Moon Palace Resort and Spa. I have been a member of Palace resorts for 25 yrs. Took my family to celebrate my 80 birthday. One night my daughter who was recuperating from back surgery walked into the room and fell because of a big hole in the ceiling and pouring in. Palace took no responsibility for the accident. Make sure if you go, get good travel insurance. My daughter will need another back surgery. I will put photos of the damage up later

The rooms were very clean. The beds were very comfortable I really liked c the weighted comforter. The staff was ver kind and friendly. I especially recommend this resort because the front desk was excellent! We also had exceptional pool side waiters. Diego and Marta were so great. Our group was very big and they served us 7 days, thank you. Our children loved the water park and Albert was so patient with them. He also taught them how to surf. The spa was amazing, thank you Julian and Amay. The food was superb as always. Thank you Moon Palace for helping us make memories with our family.

Do not become a member. Members get the worst service when it comes to rooms. This is our 5th time booking and they try to give us the worst choice of rooms. 1st floor with No view!!! I had to complain multiple times to get moved to only 2nd floor!

This is extremely long and detailed. The only things in ALL CAPS (which they tell us not to use) are names of restaurants or companies so they stand out. I hope you find it helpful. I will give an review of The Grand at Moon Palace Cancun. I am actually sitting in my hotel room right now as I write this and will give you a day by day review of the events of that day, restaurants attended and any amenities used. Day 1 - Arrival. Our shuttle was through DISCOVA, will write a separate review of them. Unfortunately our room was not ready upon arrival. I can’t blame that entirely on Palace Resorts. We had a very early flight, and actually landed 30 minutes earlier than intended. We breezed through customs and got to our transport faster than expected. We arrived at the hotel before the normal check in time so we had about an hour to 90 minutes wait before our room was ready. A Bellman checked our bags and we went into check in. We were promptly greeted, offered refreshment and told which line we should wait in to check in. The check in process was efficient and we provided them with all the information we needed quickly and electronically. They told us we would receive a text and an email when our room was ready. We were given our bracelets and told they were not active yet. The bracelets contain an RFID chip and are also your room key in case you were not aware. They are color coded so the staff knows if you are there for an event, special celebration, etc. We took this opportunity to download and register our stay with the Palace app, which I highly recommend using a a resource. You can use your reservation number if you do not have a room number yet, like us. We then went to BOULANGERIE to have something to eat while we waited. When we ordered the woman at the counter asked for our room number, we showed her our bracelets and said we were waiting for our room and we didn’t have one yet. She took our order and told us it was no problem. Our drinks came first and were perfect. The hot food we ordered came a few minutes later and was just as good. Not long after that we received our notification that our room was ready and went back to the front desk. While there they registered our bracelets. My daughter’s didn’t work properly and had to be replaces but that is the manufacturer of the chip’s fault not Palace Resorts. We took our bag tickets back to the bell station and were told to wait on a bench while our bags were prepared and we were brought to our room. Within a few minutes a bellman with our bags on the back, pulled up in a golf cart to drive us to our building and room. This was our first indication as to how large The Grand really is. While it is entirely possible to walk from any point to any point it is a long distance. There is a system of transit though the hotel with stops, and routes labeled so you know where they are going. If you are going from your building to a specific restaurant, the water park or the lobby, there is a stop close by that will get you there. We came to rely on them entirely and my daughter loved riding in the front seat whenever possible. Our room was fantastic. It was on the second floor and we could see our “stop” from our balcony. The mini fridge was completely stocked. I, personally, don’t drink but there is a liquor cabinet and beer in the fridge if that’s your thing. The floors are marble, so be careful when they are wet. The whirlpool large enough for two to sit in, and I am not a small person. We decided to go to the lobby for dinner at the GRAND BUFFET. Our mistake was walking to explore a little. It took us a while to reach the lobby but we did get there. There are signs for destinations telling you how far they are in minutes when walking but when you are worn out from traveling and have a whining 9 year old who is hungry it seems alot farther. We got to the Grand Buffet. The Buffet has theme nights and it was American Night on the night of our arrival. The food, like any buffet, was plentiful and of significantly higher quality than the typical buffets that most of us are used to. The Grand Buffet, like all restaurants, does have a dress code. I would advise making sure you meet that dress code. It is not strictly enforced, but I have seen people turned away for just wearing a swimsuit. After that, we took the shuttle back to our room and had a good night’s sleep. Day 2 On our second day we decided to make it a pool day. One big difference between The Grand, Nizuc and Sunrise is that Nizuc and Sunrise have a large central pool area while The Grand has multiple smaller pools distributed throughout the resort. Each pool has a towel distribution station, so there is no need to bring towels from your room. Before we left the room we got a call from Guest Services who had not had the opportunity to speak to us upon check in. They asked that we stop by to get a copy of the resort map and we did after breakfast. We set up an appointment for the “tour” in exchange for resort credit. I think everyone knows this is the sales pitch meeting and we knew that but wanted to use the resort credit to pay for our excursions outside the resort, like most people do. We went to the Grand Buffet for breakfast. It was far more crowded but we did arrive at the busiest time for breakfast. The quality fo the food and friendliness of the staff was just as on point as it was the night before. We went to the pool behind Cuzco, labeled as “Swim Up Bar Cuzco” on the resort map. It is a long pool with two swim up bars at either end. There is a section on one side that has pergolas but these are reserved for members. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. They always asked if you needed anything or anything more on every trip past you. There was ample seating and I personally found the two person loungers to be less comfortable than the single person loungers. If you need help putting an umbrella up (which I did because apparently 3 engineering degrees isn’t enough to operate an umbrella) the wait staff are more than willing to help. We felt perfectly comfortable leaving our bag with sunscreen, books, phones and small amount of cash. After the pool, we headed to HABIBI, the Lebanese restaurant. A little flashback if you don’t mind… During breakfast, my wife has seen a “Belly Dance Show” advertised at Habibi on one of the many digital signs throughout the facility. I went over while we were waiting for our table at The Grand Buffet and asked about making a reservation. The person working the podium told me that Habibi did not take reservations but on a night they have a show, they open the doors at 6:00 and the house is typically full by 6:15 so make sure to line up early. We got there about 5:30/5:45 and there were people in line. By the time 6:00 came around, there was a fairly long line into the hallway. We were seated as the second group and by the time 6:15 hit, they were turning people away because they had just filled the last seat. My wife chose to order almost every item on the “Cold Mezze” menu, as a sampler. They were more than willing to accommodate her and our dinner was excellent and a massive variety. I ordered a hot “hot mezze” and an entree and our daughter got an entree off the kids menu. We got desert on top of that as well. The staff, as always, was warm and welcoming as much as any location at any time. Day 3 - The Sales Pitch If you have never done the sales tour, you should know what to expect. They offer you something of value, typically resort credit, in exchange for giving you a sales pitch. They want you to buy something, typically the cost is measured in thousands of dollars, and they will offer you different finance options. You can classify it exactly how you like, time share, membership, points, whatever. You will spend longer than they say you will. They will pressure you, because that is their job. They won’t become rude or belligerent, because they want you to think they are nice people, which they are. They will find something to identify about you to use to their advantage of to make you feel a connection with them. If what they are selling makes sense to you, then you can negotiate and negotiate hard. If what they are selling has no value to you, they will try to sell you a cheaper version on the way out, but ultimately they will give you exactly what they promised for your time. We met out sales representative, Lily at the desk. We went through some check in paperwork and made our way to LA CANTINA for breakfast which was a buffet. The food was pretty much identical to the buffet breakfast in every restaurant, and still very good. We went on the tour, with our daughter. When we got to the sales center, they had a “Playroom” (their kid’s club) where our daughter stayed and got her face painted. Our meeting was a long one, with multiple “hand off’s” and “impending events” that any sales person would be familiar with. We negotiated and ultimately did actually spend the money and buy in. I can write a review of my opinion of the “Membership” later. As I said before, if you see value, you can negotiate and we saw value. Everyone has to make that decision for themselves and their specific circumstances. We went to TAVOLA for lunch. My daughter and I had the pizza, which I was not overly impressed with, and neither was she. I will add an asterisk to that review, I am from New Jersey and we all have our own ideas about pizza in different parts of the world and this most definitely doesn’t conform to my idea of pizza. The flavor was good but the crust was limp, not stiff, even when folded. The toppings didn’t “stick” in the cheese but fell off when the slice was lifted. My wife had an appetizer and she loved it. After leaving the restaurant, we went to Boulangerie for ice cream. There is a separate counter for ordering ice cream and milk shakes at the left side. You can still order the ice cream at the main register, but if that is all you want, it is faster to go to the dedicated counter. After lunch and ice cream, we went to the WATER PARK section. It is not a full water park that you may expect but for one that is completely accessible for resort guests it has quite alot. There are slides, tube slides, a wave pool, a flow rider, kids sections and a lazy river. Seating was plentiful and available. The wait staff and lifeguards were, as always, exceptional. The PLAYROOM is located in a building completely within the water park. We did a walk through to decide if our daughter would mind spending some time there while we went to any “adult only” locations. We spent a good 20 minutes in there marveling at it. There is a good variety of supervised, age appropriate activities for kids. My daughter, wife and myself loved both the water park and the playroom. Dinner was back at LA CANTINA. We got a variety of dishes, this time it was me ordering 5 different entrees and 2 appetizers. Everything was great. The dishes themselves are small, so ordering multiples is not a bad idea. There is someone making drinks walking around the restaurant with a bar card, making them table side. The staff, amazing as usual. After that, we decided to stop at TAPAS Y VINO to try some tapas. Be warned now, don’t just pick the tapas off the bar. They are food, but they are displays. You can order whatever you like and it will be prepared and brought to you within a few minutes siting in the bar. You can sample a huge variety of tapas here and everything we had was excellent. Day 4 - The Trip to Sunrise For the sake of time, we chose to have breakfast at CUZCO which is the closest restaurant to our room. It was the typical buffet, which is breakfast in any restaurant that isn’t specifically a la carte. It was FAR less crowded than the lobby and much easier to get to, and would become our go to breakfast location because of that. From there we went to take a golf cart to SUNRISE. We were told that taking the golf cart wouldn’t work and we had to take the “lobby to lobby” bus in the lobby. It is literally a bus. While it was comfortable and could accommodate a large number of people, I personally think it would make more logistical sense to transfer people between lobbies with smaller vehicles that a full charter bus. That said, the bus was comfortable and the driver was very nice, just like everyone else at the resort. Upon arrival at sunrise, we had to go through the lobby. The “gift shop” in sunrise was far larger than the one in The Grand and we spent quite a bit of time looking though it. We spent the day at the Sunrise pool, which is massive compared to the pools at The Grand. There is ample seating, attentive staff and multiple places to get food while at this location. The beach in this section has far more lounge chairs and palapa umbrellas than you can find in The Grand section. The water is not the picturesque blue one expects in the Caribbean because of the quantity of seaweed in this area. The odd thing was there were no children in the Sunrise area. We found out that there was a Jazzfest and that most of the attendees were staying at sunrise, which explained the lack of a larger number of children. The COCO BAR is located here, along the back of the pool area looking the beach and there was BBQ stand set up next to the bar. This was not the SMOKED restaurant which is at Sunrise. I made the assumption it was set up for the somewhat larger population at the fully booked sunrise so they could quickly get food at the pool area. It was very good and if it is any indication of the quality of SMOKED’s food I will be stopping in there on our next visit. After our day at the pool we returned to the room to get ready for dinner. We went to JADE in the Grand Lobby area. Now, I have to say that this was a disappointment for me personally. First, the wait was a bit long, but there were some very large parties taking up a-lot of tables in the restaurant. I got a mix of appetizers and found they were just ok in my opinion. My daughter didn’t like her dinner much and my wife didn’t rave about her dinner either. After a simply ok dinner at JADE, we went right over to the GRAND BUFFET and had second dinner which was for more satisfying. Day 5 - The Trip to Nizuc The day began like any other, with a trip to CUSCO for breakfast. It was followed by time in the lobby doing some souvenir shopping. We went to LOS TACOS for lunch when I engaged in my favorite sin, gluttony. I ordered one of everything on the menu, and actually finished it. The restaurant itself seems almost like a snack bar at a pool. The tablets are outdoors and right at a pool. There was a small wait, but we just sat at the pool until someone came over. The food itself was excellent as is typical and they were very accommodating with my request. I found out it is fairly common. After lunch some time at one of the pools in Grand and a trip to the Water Park. We went over to Nizuc to go to ARRECIFES. There is a buffet for appetizers and accompaniments, but as is the case in any Brazilian steakhouse, they will just bring the meat to your table as long as you want to keep eating. The quality of the food was just as good as anything we had had so far. There was one, out of the huge variety of meats, that I didn’t care for personally. After dinner, we returned to Grand and there was as show planned for that night. This was the Mexican show. It was in the Grand Theatre, and it was our first time in there. The show was extremely entertaining, it consisted of music and dance from different regions of Mexico. We had seen shows at the Sunrise side when we stayed there but they were typically performed outside. There was another show that night at Grand as well, but you can’t go to two shows at once. This was a fire show and it was outdoors. There is entertainment in the form of some kind of show most every night. Day 6 - Our Last Night Breakfast at CUSCO, no surprise there. Late Morning was spent in the Water Park. We did the FlowRider. Just so you are aware, you need to sign a waver to ride it. From there to the pool with the swim up bar outside of CUSCO. We had lunch there. It was the only time our order took a long time and got messed up. I think that someone else might have gotten our order by mistake. Out of all the orders we had made pool side, this was the only time that things did not go quickly and smoothly. The thing that made me think someone else accidentally got our order was he Brought things we didn’t order at all. After going back to the room and getting ready it was time for dinner at…CUSCO! This is one of several restaurants that requires reservations. We made our reservations for dinner. This was, personally, the most disappointing dinner we had. First off, reservations were not required the restaurant was almost empty at the time we were there. I am not talking about the quality of the food, or the variety. I am simply saying that I didn’t care for Peruvian food, this being my first time having it. The wait staff was just as friendly as ever and we tipped just as much as we always did, but we chose not to stay for desert, opting to head to the BOULERANGE in the lobby. On our way though the lobby, we stopped at JC STEAKHOUSE to see if they had any canceled reservations. 
This leads to a side story. We had learned, during a discussion at the pool, that if you go to JC STEAKHOUSE later in the evening, meaning after 9:00 pm, you have a greater chance of an open table due to a canceled reservation. They told us that if we came back in about 20 minutes (9:30) we could get seated. We went and bought some jewelry with our remaining resort credits. There is a section in the store where you can use credits and only pay the taxes (16%). We had some $1200 in unused credits at this point and didn’t want them to go to waste, so we used them, and paid the tax on the jewelry. Omar was very happy with us that night. We went back to JC STEAKHOUSE and got seated. We tried a bit of everything we could on the menu and it was, by far, the best meal we had all vacation. There was nothing at all to say negative about the restaurant other than I wish I had not eaten at CUSCO so I could have eaten more at JC STEAKHOUSE. Day 7 - Departure As part of our “time share that isn’t a time share but is a time share” purchase, we asked if they could arrange a late checkout for us. They arranged a 2:30 checkout time. We headed to breakfast at…CUSCO, as if there was any other choice. We called the bell services and had them take our bags. We did a little more souvenir shopping for last minute items and then went to check out. When you check out, you do NOT do so at the same desk where you checked in. There is a secondary desk next to BOULERANGE where you check out. When you check out, they will cut your bracelet off and give you a ticket. That ticket is good for food and drink at any restaurant before you leave. That ticket is also to be turned over to the bell staff when you get your bags and take your transport to the airport. Don’t lose it. Someone will come up to you as soon as you check out and offer to sell you a discounted return stay. If you are members, this sale does not apply to you. The actual pick up was a bit chaotic, but the bell staff kept it very organized. We stayed with our bags and while we were sitting there another guest, who did not keep their check out ticket, was angry they could not take their bags without the ticket saying who they were. They had to go back to the checkout desk and get another ticket. We boarded our DISCOVA shuttle and headed home. At this time, we have already booked another stay and are looking at two more, possible stays, within the next year. We loved our time here and can’t wait to go back, that is exactly why we bought the membership. I can’t recommend this place more. The staff is extremely helpful, everyone is very kind, the quality of the amenities is amazing and the food and drink is awesome. There are plenty of things to do off property that you can arrange through the vacation planners if that is more your speed. We loved it, we will be back. I can only hope this extremely long and detailed accounting of our time is helpful to you and that you love it too when you go.

Im a member at the grand and the all around service never disappoints. My recent visit was amazing all around but I have to give special thanks to Edgar Echegaray, Raul Rodriguez and Abraham Cornelio all who went above and beyond and provided my family with great service and experience with resort golf cart transportation. Also, me and my family all got together at habibi restaurant and Blanca is the best! She works so hard to make sure everyone is well taken care of. Thank you!!!!!!!! Thank you all! See you again 2023

Our 6 year old daughter Elayah had the best time on vacation. Her favorite place was the playroom in the water park area. Xiomara, Sofia, and Luisa were all very attentive and they all went over and beyond to make my daughter’s experience fun and comfortable. Their customer service was impeccable!!!!!
