My husband and I were absolutely thrilled and amazed with this beautiful resort 😍 We had a swim out suite and it was awesome. All the restaurants were really nice and the food was very very good. The staff was always welcoming and friendly. We will come back soon ♥

Took a chance and spent 5 days here and the staff was amazing. There was great food, service and attitudes. Everything was well cared for and safe. Most of the less than 100 guests wore masks and we had a blast. The only problem was the beach was suffering from a period of sea weed. Im sure other times it's not a problem.

Only truly great resorts get better the second visit, and the Haven went above and beyond. I asked my husband if they might think we are famous, the service was that attentive. Mirium took such great care of us, making arrangements for dinner every night, and even arranging a dinner at the Chefs Table that was spectacular. I must say I was blown away when Ricardo at the pool bar remebered me from a 4 day visit in 2019. The first visit our room looked south, and I thought that was the best, and then this visit we looked north, and it was just as beautiful. we will be back!

We spent 5 glorious days in Haven from 1/7-1/12. We traveled as a group of 4 couples, and stayed in Serenity romance rooms, and one couple in the presidential suite. Before I continue writing this review, I would like to notice, that this was our 10th year in Cancun/Riviera Maya, and that for a few years now, we go to Caribbean about twice a year. This was our third annual adults only trip. The last two years we did a similar trip, with similar expectation, at a similar time of the year in Grand Palladium TRS, and Atelier, Inspira. I would consider us to be seasoned travelers, some easy go lucky, and some very demanding with expectations. The resort: The resort alone is a very pleasant way. The layout is simple, and it is hard to get lost. It is rather compact, has lots of ramps and elevators. I think people with mobility issues would feel comfortable there. It takes about 7 minutes to cut through the entire resort from the most southern to the most northern part. Most restaurants are located in the main building with lobby, shops, spa and theatre also there. The grounds are impeccable. We’ve seen staff constantly cleaning, and adjusting things to be absolutely perfect. They even seem to use some sort of a water vacuum to clean the bottom of the pools in the morning!!!! It is exceptionally clean, and well maintained. Some gardens are left to their own to grow naturally, and some are manicured. The rooms: The rooms were a bit of a disappointment in my opinion. They were spacious enough, but not big. Atelier’s rooms seemed at least 1/3 larger in size. We were booked under the Serenity upgrade, and had an ocean front Romance category. The ocean front alone elevated the experience quite a bit! I like how they solved the problem of not having enough space in the room for a tub, and situated an oversized jacuzzi tub on a balcony! We legit used it three out of the five nights we were there. The ocean front provides you with all the privacy you need at night, so you can totally take a bath naked, and do not worry about unwelcomed spectators. The bed is nice and comfortable (and this comes from California king tempur pedic owners). Pillow menu is advertised, but our butler never went over our options. We were each given two pillows that were comfortable enough, so we did not inquire about the pillow menu outside of what we were already presented with. The bathroom is nice and spacious, and I personally especially liked the solution of a closed included in the bathroom area. The shower is nice and spacious, and has an oversized rain shower build into the ceiling. The only negative for the shower in my opinion is the fact that in order to run the shower head to lets say, rinse off of the foam, you had to turn off the rain shower first. My own bathroom has a feature of having those two, and the jets run at the same time, so it was a bit of a downgrade for my liking, and personal experience. The toiletries used by the hotel seem nice, and are advertised as natural, however personally I questioned some of the ingredients, and really did not appreciate them enough to try to obtain them outside of the resort. Personally, I think that having name brands like L’Occitane (TRS) or Moltron Brown (Atelier) to be a more luxurious touch. The presidential suite delivered!! It was incredibly spacious, absolutely impeccable with design, and provided a fun spot for us to hang out when it rained or when we were pre-gaming before dinner. If you have to buck for it, absolutely upgrade! We have seen a few of those in other resorts during the time share presentation, and this one by far was the nicest of them all. The guests staying at the Presidential suite would like to give a special shout out to Daniel, Luis and Hilaberto who went out of their way to attend to some issues that arose with the audio system. The pools: There are two major pools, the big round one that seems to be more of a relaxed pool with calm music and an overall feel of absolute Zen, and the long pool to the northern side, with more of an upbeat atmosphere, fun music, activities like water aerobics etc. Besides a very cool layout of the pools (the long one has an upper and a lower side), the one thing that sets Haven’s pools apart from all other pools we have EVER dealt with in any Caribbean All Inclusive, is the fact that they are HEATED!!!!!! Our butler described them as “temperature controlled,” and I guess that is a better way of describing the water temperature. Do not expect an 85* water temp though! They are just warm enough, I guess around 72-75* or so! The top part of the long pool seems the hottest, and you really can feel waves of hot water when you step over the drains/jets where the water comes from. The drinks: Hmm….all in all, not a bad drink ever served to any of the eight of us! The drinks by the pool could use more fresh ingredients. Nothing beats a freshly made pinia colda for example, and having it done from a pre fabricated mix did not hit the spot for us. HOWEVER….find Edwardo from limes, also known as Lalo!!!! HE IS INCREDIBLE!!!! We have met some pretty amazing mixologists at Atelier last year, and were very afraid that nobody would be able to top them! And yet…Lalo delivered! Compared to drinks served in Atelier, Edwardo’s drinks were way more refined and detail oriented! He not only completely developed his own recipes, but also put very interesting spins on classics such as Old Fashioned etc. We met Lalo for the first time in the Presidential Suite when we were pre-gaming for a memorable night of two of our friends celebrating their birthdays. The friends staying at the presidential suite requested a private show from Edwardo, and boy, oh boy…he delivered! After that, we would see him daily. Sometimes it actually felt like he took time to find us, and surprise us at dinner for example with a nice tray of something extra special! That alone made us feel very special, and very welcomed. We have also booked a private mixology show with him in Limes!! He opens Limes early for a special group of friends, and does a show…free of charge, but I bet with tips greatly appreciated! What sets his drinks apart from others are the special ingredients such as flakes of gold, or bitters of his own making. No drink was a disappointment, ever, and definitely request the chocolate cake shot! The spa: If you’re asking yourself if Serenity is a worthwhile upgrade, the access to the daily hydro therapy alone does the trick in my opinion. We have done a similar concept in TRS, and yet, Haven’s is way better, even though the actual spa is smaller. The hydro included in serenity upgrade includes complementary 30 minute daily treatment of either hydrotherapy (all kinds of water jets massaging different parts of body), or wet/dry sauna and hot/cold therapy. Both are equally as nice, however you can have both at the same time only if you pay $19. If you don’t you can have either hydro or sauna for half an hour a day. Both experiences are worth the time. You get a private Spa assistant who walks you through the experience, offers you towels, and slippers, and all the fun stuff. My two girlfriends and I booked an hour massage, and as part of a complementary upgrade with the massage, were able to combine the hydro and sauna with the massage free of charge- so it became a two hour spa experience, and boy, were we in haven after it!! The massage was incredible. We managed to get a private room for three with a simultaneous massage for us at the same time. The massage technicians (Isabelle, Lupita, and I do not recall the name of the third lady) were deeply knowledgeable, professional, and offered a memorable experience. We all chose the same type of a massage (deep tissue), and even though face down, based on the things we could hear, it became obvious that those ladies were as synchronized as a ballet! They all treated us with an amazing, and very therapeutic experience! The food: Where do I even start. I guess I could summarize it with a two word phrase: IMPECCABLE PERFECTION! This was the first resort where we never had any complain with the service, or the quality of the food. Compared to Atelier and TRS (who kept messing up orders, served food with live warms in it, or frozen and undercooked), there was not a single issue with the food served in Haven!! Taste wise, everything from the smallest pastry at breakfast, to the most refined duck dish at dinner was absolutely delicious! Another thing that sets Haven apart from other resorts we have been to is the fact that the service was impeccable! We ate as a group of 8 all but the last night of our stay! Not a single time did we have issue with service. The food was always served within acceptable wait time limits, it was always served all at once without someone left behind waiting for their dish, was always warm, and the waiters remained attentive throughout the entire evening! We are a happy mix of some who are simply easy go lucky, and some who are very demanding with their expectations, and everyone always left very satisfied! We ate at all restaurants, and it is hard to write a review of each separately, since all were always a hit, but if I were to pick one that absolutely stood out, it would be Olios. We ate at Olios as a group on our second night to celebrate the birthdays of our two friends. We managed to get a chef’s table. The service was incredible, the whole experience was basically Haven, and the food of course was delicious. Each dish was impeccably presented, and assembled with the most detail oriented manner imaginable! You could see the chefs assembling it with pinchers and placing every tiny piece of the dish with the most devotion imaginable! It was a show just to watch them do it! Chef’s table has a prefixed menu, so don’t expect a menu card…but trust me- trust the chef! He knows what’s up! You will NOT be disappointed! For our last night, we decided to do couple’s night, and each couple had a separate dinner. My husband and I decided to eat at Olios again! We were so excited about having to eat at Olios again, that out of the whole excitement, my husband forgot about the special dress code with long pants, and wore shorts. The hostess at the front of the restaurant very politely reminded him about the dress code, and did not let him in wearing shorts. If anything, that attention to detail was very appreciated from our side. The non-chef’s table dinner at Olios was equally as impressive as the chef’s table, which only further solidifies how incredible that restaurant is! All of the food was absolutely delicious, but personally, the duck was my all time favorite! The nighttime entertainment: This is a more of a low-key resort. We never do shows, so I can’t comment on those, but we have found the DJ to be fun. After our first night he found us in the resort two other nights with a private invitation to see him in both Moons after shows, and in Limes for a party! 😊 😊 😊 I think that just like with any other resort, fun is what you make for yourself! We partied the night away, had the dj play our music, had the drinks flowing, had tequila poured straight to our mouths from the bottle... and had an absolutely incredible time. But, we also saw others moping around in corners waiting for I don’t even know what- perhaps an IV infusion of fun in life that somehow was not included in the all inclusive package! So- fun wise, the resort is what you make it! COVID-19 comments So…this is coming from a person who lived in a bubble for most of the spring and summer 2020, and overall is absolutely petrified of the virus. We did decide to take this trip because the cases in the States seemed to stabilize at the time of our trip….and because COVID already took a whole year out of our lives, and we were not going to give it our annual friend’s getaway. So we went…and we do not regret. The resort is super serious about the safety of its patrons! They sanitize luggage upon arrival, sanitize rooms before new guests check in, offer hand sanitizer everywhere, encourage guests to wear masks in common areas and pay attention to social distancing. We saw a whole crew of workers sanitize all the lounge chairs by the pool at night too! They check your temperature upon arrival before you even enter the lobby. One of our friends reported with an elevated temp (mind you, we just arrived from Midwest winter, and were all hit with a wave of hot and humid weather, which basically confused our bodies big time)….so they had a manager came in to explain that they will have to retake the temperature in a bit…luckily her temp dropped back to acceptable, but that only showed us that they are absolutely serious about keeping everyone safe. I am curious to know what would have happened if our friend continued to report with high temp. They would probably not let her in to check in. With all that said, I would like to point out, that masks are optional for guests, and even though strongly encouraged, not enforced. I must admit, that overall the resort felt very safe, and it was a nice break from the madness of 2020. All in all, I would highly recommend everyone to visit Haven with a Serenity upgrade! 😊

I have never written a poor review in my life, but felt this concern needed to be voiced to save others from making the same mistake of booking this place with the hopes of the experience of a true 4-star hotel. My fiance and I enjoy traveling to Cancun and have stayed at several all-inclusive resorts including Hyatt, Grand Fiesta, Secrets, etc. Therefore we have a level of expectations for exceptional service, and an unforgettable experience. When we came across Haven's website, it had the allure of a premium 4-star resort, offering VIP Serenity Club benefits and a "personal" butler. We chose to pay for all of the upgrades. Unfortunately that was a huge mistake. I will tell you this, if you've ever experienced these luxuries before, Haven has manipulatively created a facade in order to bring new customers in without delivering on the promise. The "butler" simply showed us to our room on the first day, then we never heard of/from him again. The Serenity Club, I'm sad to say is a complete joke. There truly are no added benefits compared to anyone else staying at the resort. Yes, there is a "private" check-in; however, it's just a separate room where you still have to wait in line. We were barely greeted and weren't offered any complimentary drinks (or water even) upon our welcome. Oh, and yes, there is a "Serenity Club Only" pool & restaurant. However the pool is dirty, cold and therefore nobody wants to be there. The restaurant took 2.5 hours to get food when we were only 1 or two groups there. For the resort as a whole, the service is absolutely horrible. For starters, there is no one to take your drink order, as we discovered that we were expected to do all the work ourselves. We only like to drink basic Bacardi and coke. On just the second day of our stay the bartenders tried to tell us they were out of Bacardi. We later found out that they just needed to restock from their storage room. The only way we were able to make this happen was by paying one of them $20. But then that was expected each day in order for us to get our drinks without having to walk across to the other side of the resort. I think the most alarming part of our trip was the fact that both my fiance and I had close to $2000 in items stolen from us. An expensive diamond bracelet, and clothing items. We reported this to the front desk and got the impression they simply did not care. They wrote our complaint on a sticky note then we never heard anything again. Even after voicing our concerns to the hotel manager, nothing changed. We weren't offered any perks/discounts/accommodations to make up for the horrible experience. Needless to say, this place does not care about providing an exceptional experience; their business model is strictly built on false marketing & churning through new business to stay afloat. It is sad that at the end of the trip, on our way to the airport, the only positive we could come up with is that the place is close to the airport. If you are considering booking this resort, please, please re-think it. Yes, it seems to have all the potential to be a beautiful luxury resort; however I promise you it won't be anytime soon.
