The Wyndham Grand Cancun All Inclusive Resort & Villas offers a vibrant experience with its lively atmosphere and entertainment, often celebrated for its prime beachfront location in the hotel zone. While the resort boasts renovated rooms with ocean views and a variety of dining options, some travelers have encountered issues with room mustiness and maintenance, alongside inconsistent housekeeping.
The service quality varies, receiving both accolades for attentiveness and criticism for slow responses. Guests enjoy the amenities but caution against additional fees and timeshare pitches that can affect the overall value.

Detailed Reviews
I don't usually write reviews of the resorts we have stayed at but this time i wanted to let others know about out recent 8-day trip to the Omni Cancun. My wife and I have traveled approximately 19 times to Caribbean all-inclusive resorts including 15 trips to Mexico so we have experienced a broad range of resorts and comparative values. Over the last 10 years or so our trips have been subject to escalating prices with visits to various Secrets and Excellence resorts, the Royal Hideaway and most recently the fabulous Beloved Hotel. Each was wonderful in its own way but at a price. My goal this time was to see if we could find a resort that offered most of the benefits of the higher priced resorts without the extreme costs of the other resorts. I can say after our recent visit that this resort met those goals and then some,
The resort itself has been recently updated and although it is an older property the facilities are generally as nice as newer resorts. The property is kept spotless by a small army of workers who are constantly cleaning and polishing the public areas. The pools, pool areas and the lounge chairs are well kept and spotless. The lounging areas at the beach are well kept as well.
Are there compromises when compared to resorts that cost more than twice as much per day? Of course there are. The food, while generally very good is not as good as the higher priced resorts and there are fewer options. This is not to say that the food is bad in any way but when compared to the higher priced resorts there is a difference. Likewise the liquor, while of very good quality, is not top shelf for the average guests. It appears that the top shelf liquor is reserved for Vacation Club members. Certainly these are small sacrifices given the price.
What sets this resort apart from similarly priced resorts and in many ways makes it on par with many much more expensive resorts is the service. Each and every member of the Omni staff was kind, courteous and willing to do whatever they could to make our stay stress free and as enjoyable as possible. Everyone we encountered appeared to be generally happy with their jobs and it shows through the level of service. A special shout out to David and Soni at the VIP desk who made our trip special. Linda in the lobby bar kept us well served with adult beverages each night. Victor and Jose at the Pina Colada restaurant and Beatrice on the beach were excellent waiters who kept us well fed and happy. The staff at Da Vinci is excellent as well.
In summary, the Omni offers a level of service and accommodations well beyond its price point and offers tremendous value. We recommend the resort highly to anyone looking for a relaxing and stress free resort in a beautiful location with excellent service. We will be coming back.

This was our second stay at the Omni Cancun and we couldn’t have enjoyed it more.
We’ve traveled to a lot of all-inclusive resorts over the years, and have never repeated our stay anywhere else. This resort is smaller then some, but we appreciate that you can easily travel from beach to pool to room all day long. The staff is always top-notch and we love the quality of the food. My favorite is sushi for lunch and my husband loves the Brazilian steak house for dinner. The new coffee shop was awesome! Basically free Starbucks. :) To makes reservations at the dinner restaurants just do it at midnight or first thing in the morning via the app. It wasn’t hard for us to secure our spots.
We used the kids club for their babysitting service for our 2 1/2 year old and thought they took very good care of him while we enjoyed a few solo hours. It was worth the extra money ($20/hr for his age, I believe it’s free over 5). It’s located right near the beach which made me feel comfortable.
The grounds are very well maintained and we just feel blessed to have found somewhere that we feel appreciated in paradise. Thank you, Omni Cancún! We can’t wait to return!

The only reason for 4 stars was thin walls and cielings (I could tell what kinds of shoes the people above us were wearing and we could easily hear the conversations from next door) in the rooms and some of the restaurant wait Staff took long. Other than that, it was amazing. Rooms are sparking clean and sanitized. Cleaning staff is cheerful and helpful. Cable TV is a little sketchy as far as which channels get good reception but some get good reception. When you come, make sure you meeting the two Tony's. Tony macaroni, the entertainment director and his other half, Chocolatte', were amazing at making the week special with activities for everyone. We did karaoke, but he even made bingo fun. The other Tony was our waiter in several of the restaurants and he was amazing. Whenever he was our waiter, our food came fast and perfect and he was sensitive and accommodating to my allergy. He made a special milk free desert for me when there were no options on the desert menu. They were not the only good Staff, there were others but we remembered them from day one because of their excellence and bright friendly personalities. I would return just for the service provided by these two good men.
I highly recommend the omni. All the Staff follow all covid recommendations and many of the guests do. The staff requires masks for anyone entering a restaurant but they are not mask Nazi's once you are at you seat or when you are outside making for a nice stay all together. Tony Macaroni made sure we were wearing masks when we were singing karaoke, which made it harder to sing but also, we did not have to share germs with other singers so that was nice. (One exception was the three year old who drooled all over the mike but kids don't get covid so that's ok. Lol)
I highly recommend the sushi bar. Use the app for open closed schedules for all the restaurants and to schedule your dinner at the fancy restaurants (same menu every day though at each restaurant. So if you've had it once, you've had it. And the fancy restaurant has no choices. You can ask for more of less of the single choice they give you but you can't have something different u less Tony is your waiter, then he may run and make you something special.)

I personally wouldn’t recommend. Nothing “luxury” about it:
Sub-par pool areas. You have to rent towels every day (they aren’t laid out for you). Their are vendors hawking stuff within the pool area.
Food is very average. Also, the restaurant setup is a total sham-trust me, you’ll be eating at the buffet 90% of the time as they have rules about when you can book the sit down restaurants that make it almost impossible to do the day you arrive. One restaurant was just randomly closed during our visit. The only time we managed a sit-down dinner was when a friend who spoke Spanish convinced them to get us in, and when we were there it was EMPTY. Literally a scam.
Service OK. Not four or five star. People generally friendly but it’s not amazing.
You can tell this is far from an upscale experience when you check in, which feels like checking in at a poorly run Comfort Inn. Also, seedy club promoters running around.
Only place to hang out at the hotel is the lobby, which feels very much like a LOBBY and not a lounge. If you want to move about hotel with your drink you must use a plastic cup (ever tried drinking a martini from a plastic cup? No thanks).
I wouldn’t have booked this at all if it weren’t for the fact it was a bachelorette party organized by others that kept costs top of mind. If you are on a tight budget, maayyybe come here? But I still think you can get a lot better for this price.

Dear Kyla, Thank you very much for your kind feedback. We are very sorry to hear that you did not have an amazing experience in our hotel. we have reviewed the areas of opportunity mentioned and will follow-up with the corresponding areas to ensure this doesn't repeat itself. I would like to point out that we do not rent towels, they are free in the rooms and in the pools and we do not have vendors in the pool areas during the day. All of the restaurants do not open every day, we close one restaurant per day to have rotate our diners and to make sure they enjoy the full cuisine experience. All of this information is in the app, the tv's and the information given at check in. We hope you can come back and experience the hotel once again. Thank you very much!

I just returned from a 10 day stay. First, I need to make it clear that coming back from a horrible year that included temporarily closing must be a HUGE undertaking. As someone who has been at the Omni every year for the last 22 years I think they could do it better.
First, the ONLY reason that my husband and I return each year is the staff. From bellmen, to waiters, housekeepers, groundsmen, lifeguards and Vacation Club staff, they are like my family and I mean the family members that you love!
What we found this year looks like a poor effort by management to make it possible for the staff to do their usual exemplary job but the staff are sure as hell trying!
Management is keeping all of their restaurants open on a rotating basis which means that the cooks and waiters who provide breakfast have to shutdown for lunch to set-up and prepare a different restaurant for lunch and who knows where supper will be! It appeared to create a lot of extra work for too many people. The shortage of staff is evident when we saw the same wait staff for breakfast, lunch AND dinner on nearly everyday 7 days/week. Mind you, none of them are complaining but it is easy to see the tiring effect on them.
Things that also are bothersome include; a single beach waiter who was new to the Omni......where is Eddy or any of the previous crew? No coffee was available other than by room service which carries an extra $5.00 charge early in the morning. We’re wearing masks so setting up a coffee station in the lobby should not be out of the question. Housekeeping didn’t get to our room some days until we flagged them down at 5 pm making it hard to get cleaned up before our evening meal. The bellmen are working like crazy to get everyone’s bags in and keeping track of who is leaving! We usually love eating on occasion in Da Vinci’s but found the quality and portions of the food to be quite variable (they really need to consider some changes to their menu). They also need to enforce the dress code consistently.
I can’t believe that the staff that were there stay as positive as they are and don’t complain. We continue to be treated SO WELL by Wait staff including Adan, Carlos, Jose (Pina Colada), Victor, Miguel & Jesus (La Paloma) and Elsa.
There are employees that we miss so very much but apparently will not be offered their jobs back. I tell you this, we will come back once more to give management the benefit of the doubt by assuming that once the effect of the pandemic has passed, we will see the wonderful employees that we’ve gotten to know through the years will be back. But management needs to hear me loudly and clearly, your building is definitely not why we have been loyal customers for 22 years. When the employees we have come to love like family are gone, we will be gone as just like so many people that we talked to who after their first trip to the Omni this year, will not be back.

We stayed 7 days in Cancun @ the Omni. Aug 29 - Sept. 5. It was still too short. Boooo. Anyway I wanted to take this time to address some of the complaints I have read and were told to me when I was at the Omni. Understand we are in a time of a PANDEMIC....so Omni is trying to figure it out like the rest of us. Omni is not operating anything near full or even half capacity so please have a little understanding and patience. That being said let me point out some outstanding staff at Omni. It's not right to say I have favorites because everyone is so amazingly awesome but....I will get to know everyone at some point and put their names on review. Jose Cocom at breakfast was what you expect as a server who cares. Estella is not only super friendly every morning at breakfast but fast and efficient. Ricardo with room service was fast & friendly. Josias, Jose Chaga , Jose Chan Chin and Miguel are very attentive servers. Raul Fernando Herrera and Antonio Ventura Hernandez make you feel like family in VIP outdoors. Gerardo became our new best friend as outside server. Romelia is the unsung hero for cleaning our room and making us feel like it was a brand new day everyday! Gilberto would discreetly clean around us as he offered his services in any way we needed. Francisco and Antonio were bartenders with a smile at swim up bar. Orlando! Best bartender in lounge along with Wilberth. Martiniano was super awesome at dinner! Enrique at Paloma went above and beyond for my sister-in-law's lunch. She was beyond impressed. Ulises... can't forget about you doing a great job. Nino was phenomenal like usual in checking us in and answering all our questions. And the most fun crew of all Antonio Chocolate, Tony Macaroni and Carlos kept the energy, fun and atmosphere at 100% everyday poolside. Anyone considering vacationing at the Omni should do so. Of course within logical reasoning at this time of pandemic. We chose to do so and are very impressed with the level of sanitation the Omni is performing. It was a constant cleaning and disinfecting while masked social distancing at all times to include guests. Keep up the great work Omni! We'll be back home to you soon!

The staff was amazing. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. The facilities were very clean and each day our room was immaculate. From the moment we got there the hotel took all the necessary precautions to be sure everyone social distanced and sanitized. All of the workers had masks and face shields and were constantly cleaning and sanitizing everything which gave us peace of mind. There was entertainment by the pool daily by Dj "Chocolate" and Toni "Macaroni" they made sure everyone was having a good time and took the time to meet and greet the guests and were great at remembering peoples names and making sure everyone was enjoying themselves. They also announced the daily program for the evenings events/shows. The wait staff was also very friendly and helpful. By far, our favorite server was Enrique. He gave us great food suggestions and always made sure we had everything we needed. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay. The only thing that could have been better was if there had been more food options each day. Also, at times with the influx of visitors it put more strain on the staff onsite in the restaurants due to them not being fully staffed. So,at times the servers were helping more tables than they normally would be which meant you had to wait a little longer for drinks. We understood due to the pandemic that there were less people traveling and less workers than there had been pre-pandemic which was the cause of reduced services and limited staffing. The location is very convenient and the beach is beautiful! We will definitely be going back to visit again. Stayed from 9/8-9/13

We had our annual Cancun trip booked for the end of may but unfortunately that trip was cancelled due to COVID-19. At first I was hesitant to travel with my 14 month old. We decided to go ahead and travel and I’m so happy that we did! We have been going to this resort for 15 years now. I was married there 2 years ago, this place is our home away from home! Upon arrival at the hotel we were greeted with hand sanitizer and masks were required in closed spaces, they disinfected all of our luggage and practiced social distancing to promote the safest environment possible. Our room was extremely clean as well. I honestly felt so much safer at the Omni compared to home as far as cleanliness goes. Each morning for breakfast Carlos and Noe were beyond fantastic! They made sure a high chair was ready for us for our daughter as well as making sure she had everything she needed. Due to the current pandemic food choices aren’t the same as they were in years past, but I feel like there is enough to choose from. All towels for the beach and pool come in plastic bags so they are clean and they now have wet towel bins across the hotel property to collect them. Esteban was fantastic all week making sure that you always had a drink in hand! The entertainment crew was fantastic as always! Antonio and Tony were wonderful to our family, they made sure to entertain the entire week we were there and didn’t hesitate to play my daughters favorite songs too! We didn’t spend much time at the ocean but we were able to watch the turtle release at night, which is always an awesome experience! The shows at night weren’t very good at all compared to what they used to be, and I’m extremely disappointed that they no longer have vendors set up. We miss victor making paintings with his fingers by the pool! Jose was wonderful as always for dinner time! While on vacation this year I spent my 27th birthday in Cancun. He made sure to have a special table set up for me and my family with a small gift that was so special to me. The hotel made the most delicious birthday cake for me as well! My husband and I got a couples massage and Gabby was amazing! Best massage I’ve ever had! All in all there are definitely some changes that were made that might be slightly upsetting but overall I’m so glad we decided to go! If you have children and are on the fence about going, I assure you that you will not be disappointed.

First I want to say that the majority of the people who work at the Omni are so kind and helpful. Wait staff, cleaning staff, food service staff, bell staff - amazing! The front desk staff, while still nice, not as nice.
We paid for a Deluxe Lagoon View room anticipating some amazing sunsets. Instead we were in a handicap poolside room that was quite loud, no sunsets, nothing covering the shower entrance so the bathroom was pretty soaked from overspray the entire week. Also we were right in front of the elevator so we got to hear 'ding' a lot. No one was able to help us get our room corrected. Also the fridge was nicely stocked, but not cold.
The food at Pina Colada, the Taco Shack and the Sushi Bar was excellent. If I could have eaten every meal at Pina Colada, I would have! Victor, Noe and Valeria were awesome. Unfortunately, Pina Colada was only open for breakfast and lunch at this time. The Taco Shack and Sushi Bar were only open for lunch. The buffet at La Paloma was not good. All of the food tasted pretty much the same and that was bland. We did get a reservation at 9:30 one night at DaVinci. After reading the menu we were so excited. But again, lackluster. Except for the creme brulee and that was great. Also we were able to get a reservation at La Vista one night and they had a pretty good meal...nice salad bar and sides to go with the various meats.
Many of the tours you can take start leaving at 6:00am and food is not available until 7:00am so it would be nice if there was a "grab and go" breakfast option for guests. There is a little coffee bar where there are a few pastries out earlier, but just a few.
The beach was quite overrun with seaweed. We did see some people trying to sweep it up one morning but it was quite a daunting task for them.
The pools are nice and seemed very clean. The towel service hours start a little late and end early so you may want to save a towel or two each day so you have one for the morning to get yourself a chair by the pool. The jacuzzi is not hot, it's a warm bath temperature and unfortunately many guests don't follow the rules and just let their children go into it unattended. Leif at the pool was very helpful and provided great service.
Be aware, unless you are a member of the vacation club, you cannot get the Thai beds on the beach like the website leads you to believe. You can rent the ones by the poolside though.
I'm not sure if I would book this property again. I will have to read the reviews closely to see how others' experiences are.

Good: The resort location, service and facilities are top notch. Beach is pristine with clear water. They have beach chairs, beds, cabanas, 2 bars on the beach. They even serve you drinks and snacks on the beach. One of the bars on the beach has an attached jacuzzi with Luke warm water. Service is absolutely best. There is a buffet which serves food any time of the day you go. The spread is not huge (like casinos in Vegas) but I have no complaints with the options. Vegetarians will find good eating options in the buffet as well as restaurants. The entertainment in the pool area will keep you engaged the whole day and shows are nice to watch in the night. Rooms are again not 5 star hotel level but more than good for beach facing resort with beautiful views from the room. Room service is again amazing.
Not so good: Drinks are low quality brands and not strong enough but I don't have issues with it . We saw a cockroach in the spa dressing room, if it concerns anybody. Food portions are small in the restaurant but you can always order more.they might try to sell you time share but you can decline and walk away. The beach shops and convinience store are out of the range expensive, so stay away.
Shout out: Sergio from the front desk who checked us in did an amazing job.he went out of his way to find a ocean facing room when we did not like the initial room that was given. Overall the service staff is amazing. Tip them well please .
Reminders: carry you sunscreens beach wear from home and avoid buying it in the resort. Carry few 1, 5 dollars to tip the servers.
When you checkin, get in your reservation for the dinner at the different restaurants they offer.
Verdict: Best value for your money. Do not compare this with other 5 star resorts in the area which are 20 to 25% expensive, for the money paid here I think we did get 5 star experience.
