We returned to the Golden Parnassus for the 5th time in the last 10 years, and were once again impressed with the wonderful service, delicious food and amazing beaches. We were a little concerned about going due to the ongoing pandemic, but the staff were incredible careful. We never saw a staff member without a mask, and often they also wore face shields. Staff were attentive to taking temperature for indoor restaurants and sanitizing everyone's hands, and ensuring no buffet items were being touched by guests.

We loved the slightly quieter feel with reduced capacity (Plenty of beach chairs available each day!) and were impressed with the work being done to repair damage to the resort from Hurricane Delta (we noticed most resorts were in some state of repairs in the hotel zone).

Our room was in great condition when we arrived, and though we did have a small leak one morning with our air conditioner, it was fixed by the time we returned to our room at 3:00pm and we had no further issues the rest of our week long stay.

We highly recommend this place as an affordable option to stay in what we believe is one of the most beautiful and relaxing ocean vacation spots in the world.

We had booked 2 rooms, 1 club room and 1 delux room, the club room was perfect but the delux which I think was 206 had a terrible smell we asked to change and it was immediately, the second room was more dated but we didn’t mind that and both rooms very clean. Although we learnt after that the room was very loud from music at night. We stayed here for a week of our 2 week holiday, first night we ate in the barn, we were tired from travelling for 16 hours but to be honest did not enjoy the food the first night maybe just us, but ate in the barn 3 more nights during the week and loved it, I highly recommend the fillet steak jacket potato and spinach, you can mix the steak with whatever you want I choose this and ate it 3 nights absolutely delicious. We also ate in the pasta restaurant and the main buffet restaurant both good, breakfast was good plenty to choose from. Lunch times we snacked from the pool cafe serves the best chicken wings. Day activities with Itsy and the team was great fun and my husband and daughter did most of them, didn’t go to all the shows but the balloon contest by the pool on our last night was hilarious, laughed so much. Never really a shortage of sun beds and change towels as often as you like, pool area is spotless and a great place to enjoy, leads straight onto the beach which was very clean we loved it. I would say this hotel is down to earth, fun and relaxing (whatever you choose) great food excellent staff who work very hard and would recommend this, but also recommend the club room, we loved our time here so much we have booked the day after getting home to return next year and I can’t wait

Arrived eventually as this place is not on the main Hotel zone road it is set back off a side road. I'm glad I had pre paid for my transfer as this would have definitely cost more as the driver wasn't even sure where it was.

ATM in lobby minimum withdrawal is $50

Music played around the hotel is dated as is the decor

The bedrooms are located on a walkway which is open above the lobby area so can hear everything and everyone at all times of the day and night and if it's raining they bring the music and noise into the lobby area so very loud.

My 'Deluxe Lagoon view' room basically meant my room was on the side of the lagoon and my 'view' was of the lobby roof.
When I asked to change I was told no other lagoon rooms but if I wanted an ocean room it would cost $30 per night more. It was a decent size room however the bedside light didn't work and the wiring was extremely dodgy.
Big balcony with 2 chairs and space prob for 2 loungers.
Room Needed fresh paint job, the net curtain dirty at bottom and holes in it.

Buffet- Breakfast pretty much same every day, fried usuals but then zucchini, eggplant, onions, broccoli. ?!?!
Lots fresh fruit.
Lunch nothing spectacular or different to rave about just basic buffet food. Lots of fruits the salads just same vegetables but then a different addition ie chicken or ham.
No ice cream at all.
Milk cups and tea mups big chips in them asked for a new one but that came chipped but smaller.

Pool was good size split into 2 areas so one side busier than the other.
Fun pool entertainment basketball and volleyball gets everyone going.

Very good COVID health measures in place. Temp taken each time enter a restaurant and hands gelled, gloves available to handle utensils in buffet, staff all constantly wear masks and goggles. Hand sanitizer by the lift for before pressing buttons.
Cleaning was generally ok but maybe some bleach or similar for cleaning bedroom floors as whatever was using didn't seem to be doing a good job.

Staff all friendly

Personally I would give this a maximum of 6 out of 10.

We just returned from our vacation at this resort . We have vacationed in Mexico Since 1988 and this is our third or fourth visit to the GP
The food is good , the staff is wonderful .

This hotel is really in need of updating . The mattress are torn and moldy . not that you spend much time in your room but the room is just all plain white. the railings going down to the beach are dangerous and need repairing . hardly even attached. I seen people falling going down to the beach or coming up from the beach so they put old rags on the steps and cones.

The lobby Restaurant was rotted on the roof so they were repairing it and all night you could hear the plastic that was all torn rattling in the wind.

The maid service will drive you crazy because they bang on the door at 8:05 AM every morning so we put a do not disturb sign on the door so they called our room number so we unplug the phone so we could sleep in. the maid would be in the room next to ours scraping chairs and furniture across the floor it was to the point that you had to leave your room by 9 AM every morning. we are not the only people that were complaining we were with 15 people in our group and several of them said why is the maid banging on the door when you have do not disturb or calling your phone.

If they updated the hotel and they need to definitely replace all the mattresses they are as old as the hotel. we came home and our backs were killing us . if they updated we would give it another try in the future . We like the comfortable setting that this resort provides it’s nothing fancy but the staff is so wonderful and the food is not bad and we love the location

Looks awesome on the website but not as nice in person. Lots of beach erosion. Surprise tax charge when I arrived. Not all of the restaurants were always open. The buffet never opened for dinner once. The Japanese restaurant had small portions but was really the only thing available for dinner. The gym opened very late (9 and 1015am) and you needed an appointment even though it was always empty. No working hot tubs outside or inside. The bartenders reuse the plastic cups so bring a Yeti cup. The hot tub in the room had brown water at first and there was a yellowish brownish ring left over after it drained. The jets need to be cleaned. There was no entertainment it was pretty quiet. The alcohol options were slim. Not one top shelf option. The my were strict with the beach towel policy- one towel per beach card. Many staff members didn’t speak English so sometimes you would get ignored. The view from the room was amazing. There weren’t enough beach chairs for the pool or beach so get up early to get a spot. The other guests made it worthwhile. Lots of people who wanted to chat and laugh.

Had to wait 2 hours to get my room.
Cant get alcohol until after 11am
Room was not mopped , sheets were not the cleanest..
We had to pay extra per night to get a small fridge, not stocked, not a mini bar, just a fridge by itself, once I paid they gave me one that didnt even work.
Bars close at 11 so no drinking after that unless you get your own stuff to drink in your room, but make sure fridge is included...

This hotel was such a disappointment. Our stay started mediocre with friendly staff but no information given about restaurants, times of events or any hotel information/location of amenities. The rooms (and hotel) are very dated and lackluster. There was mold on the ceiling of our room, which gave off a horrible smell. When we got our room key we were told that the water wasn’t working and that they were currently working on it so we would have to wait to use the restroom for a few hours. The water of course came out brown when it started working but remained yellow throughout our stay. The air conditioning in the room did not work any of the nights there, we reported it to the front desk someone came to “fix” it, but it continued to not work. Food and drinks were okay, no complaints (typical all-inclusive items). The staff remained friendly and helpful (not Saturday night however). Room service came in a decent time. BE VERY careful of the BCM staff that is located near the pool outside, they will overcharge you at every turn. Just book your excursions with another company (the BCM staff and experience are not reflected in the amount of stars given).

Gorgeous location and hotel. Really bad management!!!! 1. the room.No fridge, no internet, no bedspread, no ice machine...The bed > thread bear pilled sheet on the bottom, old pilled up blanket and another sheet on the top...punky foam pillows and bed is ancient and very stained.. the balcony is beautiful though. 2. The food was made with the cheapest possible ingredients. Mushy fish, fatty chicken thigh meat cut into mini strips along with the skins.. it goes on. The buffet area had a steam table for the side dishes like rice and potatos but they didn't put water in it so everything was dehydrated. You can get pancakes but they didn't have any butter for them. Really? At this point its becoming laughable but I'm at least loosing a little weight. The restaurants for the evening were somewhat better but not much. 3. Entertainment. This place is made of stone and marble and has teired balconies inside and out .. the lobby is open to the top floor. They decide that having a rap music rave party inside the lobby is good on a Saturday night. The noise was deafening in my 5th floor room. Now the pool area does have a stage and it was a gorgeous warm evening where all that noise might have been fine. At this point I just screamed . Mind you..the people that worked there were all lovely, but their hands were tied. I honestly think whoever is at the top and managing this place is a fool. Buy some new sheets and pillows! Mini fridges don't cost all that much! Butter anyway!

We read all the reviews prior to booking, we just returned and I would not call the hotel old, I would call it Classic, nothing was broken or dirty or old. It was Very Clean, filled with marble, water features and really fun. It reminded me of the Disney Contemporary resort in shape. The service was Fantastic! We saw Fonzy, Oscar and many other mentioned and they were fast and friendly. There were closed restaurants, but that was Covid, not the facility. They had a Mexican Show outside to make up for no shows inside, and lots of choices in eating, there were at least two sites open every night. I ate at the Japanese restaurant and we had sushi and steak and it was really good, in fact my steak medallions and mashed potatoes were top notch, we thought the steak in chili sauce was good, but not great. (this was a personal opinion). You can order a second meal if you don't like it. The cowboy themed restaurant was fun, and I loved the steak there too.
Some complained the drinks were weak, but who cares? You get as many as you like for free, and it is HOT there so staying hydrated is good.
The room air conditioning was not perfect, but we figured out to close the blinds all day and open them at night and that kept it cooler, but it never got below 69 in the room, which was perfect for me, my husband prefers 60, but he slept perfectly without a cover and the beds were great.
Honestly we would go back without a doubt, the deal was a DEAL, and unless you are picky and like high end, then pay more somewhere else.
Oh, and the Sea Turtles laying there eggs at night on the beach were a dream come true, just stay your distance and dont step in the nests on the beach when walking around.

Visited the Golden Parnassus in May 2018 as a group of 7. Could not fault the hotel one bit excellent service from start to finish! Food was amazing in all hotels and the staff could not do anything better for you. The best beach in Mexico compared to cancun ends where you don’t get any rocks, just pure white sand. We got the local bus from the end of the road into cancun which was very cheap instead of a taxi and very safe. We booked our excursions with the man in the hut outside of the hotel and was a lot cheaper would highly advise going with him. Special thanks to Martin from the entertainment team who makes you feel very involved and welcome. The bar staff are amazing special shout out and thanks to jose, fonzi.

Yes, there is free Wifi. I'm a repeat guest. It's also stated on their website under the FAQ section.

I don't believe this is accurate. The website states the following "Our hotel is 100% smoke-free, according to the new tobacco laws issued by the federal authorities smoking is not allowed on the premises." My last visit was November, so it's possible something has changed. At that time, there was one designated smoking area and it was in front of the Old Barn. That said, I've heard from quite a few people that it's not overly monitored on the beach and they'll probably leave you alone if you're being somewhat discreet. I believe the Cancun restrictive smoking laws took effect April '23. There are some resorts recommended online that are more smoker friendly; smoking rooms and additional designated areas. Another online search claims that fines can vary from $50 to $300, although, I can't imagine that happening on resort property. Hope this helps.
