I had a great stay, it’s a great resort, the service is excellent and the staff there are very professional, courteous and attentive. The beach is phenomenal and the ocean view from my room was spectacular. I would definitely recommend this resort for families and couples, and will definitely stay here again.

Hotel's Favourite
Long review up ahead, so if you like novels, you’re in the right place. First, I’ll start off by saying I’m pretty picky about my vacations. I work hard and thus have high expectations for when I want to relax. But I also have 3 kids ages 4, 6, 8 so vacationing with them is more about fun and less about doing nothing but lying there. I picked Wyndham because I could not find one negative thing on Expedia or Trip Advisor reviews, please the Wyndham Alltra facebook group had such raving fans. I still went into the experience not thinking I would be too impressed. We went May 23-29 2022 with my husband, children and parents (parents flew in from another state). We met by baggage claim and took USA Transfers shuttle for $75 round trip. They were timely and professional in both directions, and it only took about 20 mins or so to get to the airport. Upon arrival, everyone was all smiles and super helpful. Most of the staff is bilingual and can speak English well, but I still tried to inject some Spanish here and there. Check in took about 30 minutes, maybe even more, and I think that might be due to slower computer systems, but the front desk staff was so calm and patient, that I don’t think anyone really minded. Initially I had booked the Family Junior Suite, but I didn’t want to share the same space as my kids when we slept, so I upgraded to the Master Suite Ocean View on the sixth floor (room 2652). I’m incredibly glad we did that. The views from the room were phenomenal and the separation of the sleeping space was ideal. 2 of my children slept on the fold out couch and they added a rollaway bed before we had even checked in. The 6th floor also has a VIP Lounge, and I personally liked it because I would dip in for a cocktail or dessert as the day would wind down. The resort itself is not huge but it is laid out so well. The lobby occupies 2 levels, with one floor being the check in/check out area, and seating couches and the upper part with a huge screen tv that plays top sports (NBA, Tennis, Champions League games) and an oval shaped bar. The childrens four-leaf typed clover pool, and the Pirate ship water slides + water park and kids club and a restaurant are off of that second floor lobby. The first floor lobby has direct access to the pool and buffet restaurant. There’s also a 24 hour coffee shop “starbucks like” with all the pastires (muffins, choco. Croissants, ham & cheese sandwhiches), and coffee concoctions. Again, the staff is wonderful. Quite literally everywhere. And it must be mentioned. THIS PLACE IS SO CLEAN. There are people cleaning constantly. The floors shine and the attitudes shine brighter. The beach area, is off of the main pool, a few steps down and also has a bar, burger/hot dog station, DJ/music, towel station and cabanas ($67-70 per day) and beach chairs with hut-type umbrellas. I’m a huge beach person, and this is no fault’s of the resort, but there was a ton of seaweed (that they cleaned daily) and the water was rough. I understand this might depend on the time of the year that you go. So naturally I didn’t spend a ton of time at the beach because it wasn’t really swimmable. But still fun to hang there, and take pics by the colorful Cancun sign. Let’s get to the great stuff. The pool activities. There was always something to do everyday by the main pool. Get a spot after breakfast (don’t need to reserve). The bar rings a bell at 11 am when alcohol is served. The Sports Team staff comes on the mic and starts to explain the schedule for the day. Aqua Zumba, Pool Volleyball, Movie Trivia, Bingo, all pool side. Then they discuss the evening plans. There’s usually a 7 pm children’s show and an 8 pm show suitbale for adults & children. My kids fell in love with the sports team staff (Luis/Luigi, Jesus, Claudia and Lucy). They are so energetic and fun and inviting and charming. I found it quite easy to relax to sit and work on my tan and sip frozen margs/pinas, while watching my kids splash around. I did this every day for 6 days and was perfectly content. Now food. This is where it’s hit or miss for me. Vacation is not a time to watch your calories, and it was definitely hard to do so here. Ventanas, the name of the buffet restaurant, hits you in the face with like 20 dessert types. I successfully ignored it for the first 3 days and couldn’t resist after. But they have a ton of options for breakfast, omelets, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, eggs benedict, pastries, breakfast breads, Gluten Free bread, fruit, lox, cream cheese, yogurt, smoothies, freshly squeezed green juices and on and on. Lunch and dinner also had creative options, all kinds of shrimp, fish (mostly tilapia), beef, chicken & pork. They also have a kids station with all your standard “orange” food. Mac and Cheese, chicken fingers/nuggets, pizza & fries. We tried the Italian place, Viaggio once. I wasn’t really a fan. We tried At Sunset, a vegan friendly place, that was pretty decent (only place that served salmon that I saw). Didn’t try the Mexican restaurant or Cravings. Tried Azul once, but honestly between the buffet and bars and hot dog/burger station, you’ll never be hungry. We did book a romantic dinner for 2 on the beach that you have to pay extra for. We picked the surf & turf menu, and it was more food than I could even fathom. Soup. Salad. Main. Dessert. Cocktails. But the view was amazing and service impeccable. Because I wanted to spend quality time with my kids on the vacation, I didn’t utilize the Kids Club to the full capacity. But they would go every day from 2-4. They are usually open 10-5 and have hourly activities that they post daily. They had face painting, beach soccer, sand castles, water slides, origami, and cookie making. The kids loved it and loved making friends there. My favorite part was after spending the whole day frying in the sun (it only rained while we slept and the very last day we left), is the 2 hours of recuperating in the room for 2 hours and being freshly showered to prepare for the nightly activities. The 7 pm kids shows were so creative! One night in the ballroom they had the top Disney song performances (Frozen, Toy Story, Moana, Encanto). Another night a clown/magician. Another night a puppet show. Another night a Pinata party. There was never a dull moment. The 8 pm shows were even better. Insane acrobatics, fire shows, dance shows. I simply could not ask for better entertainment. From the moment you wake up, to the moment you sleep there will be a smile on your face. And what more could you ask for. I was asked if I would ever come back again (by the staff). I asked my also super-picky dad. We all agreed in unison. Abso-effin-lutely. This place gives you all and need and more. The friendliness of the staff, professional nature, make the entire experience wonderful from end to end. I didn’t want to leave. We’ll be back as soon as I could figure out how I could afford it!

Where do I begin? We have stayed at this resort twice, once in July 2022 and most recently October 2023. Both times were met with amazing staff and customer service. Since July, they have done renovations and somehow it is even more beautiful. We had such a nice time in July we decided we wanted this to be where we got married. We chose the gorgeous ocean front chapel, Our Lady of Guadalupe, which is a consecrated Catholic chapel that is located on property. Our wedding day and night was everything we dreamed of. We had the pleasure of working with Alejandra Parra and her team, and wow did they execute!! They accommodated 80 of our guests and all of them LOVED the resort! From the food to photographers to fireworks that woke up the birth of little baby turtles we couldn't have asked for more. We are looking forward to spending our anniversary here, it holds a special place in our hearts. Well done Wyndham! Until next time!

This was a great resort to go to. The customer service was excellent. The resort and rooms are clean. The food at the restaurants was terrific. The waiters were very attentive. Nolberto was a great waiter serving us at the morning buffet. The entertainment team by the poolside was amazing. There were lots of activities to do through the day. We participated in pool volleyball, beach volleyball, water aerobics, dance lessons, bingo, and the crazy daily game. The team leading the poolside activities were awesome! They made the activities very fun. They had lots of energy and pumped up the people participating in the activities. Big shoutout to Alexia, Luis, Maria, Benji, Andria, Angel and Christian for making out days terrific. The one downfall of the resort is we stayed on the first floor close to the elevators. If you stay in a room close to there, bring earplugs because it is very noisy because of the evening activities (karaoke) and people/children screaming in the hall all hours of the night.

Where do I even start...I’m not happy At check in we waited awhile and then we got the wrong room assigned to us. After a long flight and traveling with toddlers this isn't how you want to start vacation. Our door said happy birthday & the bed said happy anniversary. my issue was that we were put in a smaller room than what we paid for, and the staff swears that's what we booked. NO other rooms available so we were stuck. We paid extra for the VIP room and that was a waste- they don't even open till 11 so getting early snacks wasn't an option for the kids. Had to go all the way downstairs to the buffet and wait with everyone else. Other resorts offer more options. I wanted to sleep in and just get the kids some snacks without having to go to the restaurants. The VIP room was a waste of money- other colored bracelets were in there so it wasn't just black bracelets allowed. **NO Alcohol until 11 am! Umm I’m on vacation and want to drink. STRIKE! ROOM ISSUES- We had a jacuzzi in our room and the drain wouldn't stay plugged. We couldn't use it. The bathroom is separate but had a see-through window so you need to be comfortable with who you are traveling with because you can clearly see the person on the toilet. There was a coffee pot in the room but no cream or sugar. seriously!!! as expensive as this place was, please provide the basics. Room Service had a very limited menu and the food we ordered tasted like microwaved leftovers. My kids wouldn't even eat it. RESTAURANTS- Unless you get there right when they open you will be waiting a long while. they will also push you to buy the tomahawk steak, lobster, and better wine. fyi you can’t get chardonnay here at least not "included" its extra our food at the Italian restaurant came out cold. waited all that time to not be able to eat. *You also won’t be able to find guacamole except at the Mexican restaurant. the hot dog stand was good, but the burgers tasted frozen like We enjoyed the at sunset restaurant. The picanna was amazing but the broccoli was crunchy. Again, long wait times. the food stands said they open at 11 but they actually open at noon. you cannot get food at 11. OVER ALL FOOD IS BELOW AVERAGE FROM WHAT I HAVE EXPERINCED BEFORE. POOL/BEACH -Constant whistle blowing- good lord its annoying. no beach balls allowed in the pools??? wtf on the kid slides the employee was so rude. i was trying to calm my daughter and he kept blowing the whistle and telling me no. Dude was about to get slapped. the beach

**UPDATED** I'm feeling confused. Typically, we opt for Trip Advisor's "Best of the Best" hotels, where we have incredible experiences. However, I'm currently perplexed by the "Best of the Best" rating here. We still have six more days to stay, and I can't help but feel worried. I'm a single mom with three children aged 14, 11, and 9. We're seasoned travelers and love exploring new places. For this trip, we're joined by my 70-year-old parents, my brother and his wife, and their three kids to celebrate Thanksgiving. We're all accustomed to the fact that things might be different from home when we travel internationally. When I made the reservation, I booked directly with the resort. I specifically requested that we all be assigned rooms on the same floor, right next to each other. The resort assured me that we would be in close proximity, so I even mentioned, "Like right across the hall" (although maybe I should have emphasized "literally"). Yet, upon check-in (which took a frustrating 45 minutes!), we reiterated our request to ensure our rooms were adjacent. However, their definition of "very close" turned out to be far from our expectations. My brother ended up on a completely different floor, and my parents' room is located quite a distance down the hall. Our intention of staying together was to allow the cousins to spend quality time together and for the adults to assist whichever child needed a nap, among other things. Being spread out on different floors goes against the purpose of our family trip. I must admit, I'm not fond of being deceived or placated. It would have been more preferable for the resort to be honest and say, "Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate your request for adjacent rooms at this resort," so we could have considered other options. Furthermore, why did the check-in process take a staggering 45 minutes?! We were all utterly exhausted from the unnecessarily long wait. To my surprise, the sunscreen available in the lobby is priced at a staggering $47 USD per bottle, which is significantly higher compared to the same bottle that costs $8 at Walmart. Since we never check bags and frequently travel, we always purchase sunscreen upon arrival. I was taken aback by the exorbitant price of $47 per bottle. I even questioned the staff at the counter, thinking it must be a mistake, but unfortunately, it was not. Yesterday, we decided to rent two cabanas as suggested, but due to the lengthy check-in process, we only had about an hour left to spend at the beach. Additionally, the cabanas we rented were situated far away from the part of the beach where swimming was allowed. We immediately regretted our decision as we ended up using beach chairs near the area where swimming was permitted. After enjoying the nightly entertainment, we all craved some ice cream, only to discover that the ice cream place closed at 7 PM. To our disappointment, the game room for kids closed at 6 PM! Even if it had been open, only children aged 13-17 would have been allowed, so it seems that family air hockey was out of the question. Adding to our concerns, the room has a strong smell of mold - an intense and unpleasant odor. The room only has tile flooring, which wouldn't be a major issue if there wasn't a railing and stairs right in the middle of the room. It's a safety hazard that worries me, as I fear that one of the kids or my parents might trip and injure themselves. Due to the high humidity, the floor is always wet and slippery, posing a serious risk. I placed a bag at the bottom of the stairs to prevent my boys from slipping and injuring their toes in the middle of the night. The pillows and bedding were satisfactory. However, our floor appears worn-out and emits a strong odor of mold, which is quite overwhelming. The buffet food was decent, but not exceptional. On the other hand, the non-alcoholic mojito was absolutely incredible! For those who don't drink, Fresca is the best option. Since we don't check bags, we typically rely on the hotel-provided shampoo and soap. However, there was only one small soap and no conditioner available. Since all of us have curly hair that requires conditioner, we thought of buying it at the hotel. However, after paying $47 for sunscreen, we refused to purchase anything else on principle. We plan to visit a store tomorrow, which is something I rarely do while on a trip. I don't mind paying a bit more at a resort, but $47 for sunscreen is outrageously exorbitant. Don't they realize that $20 would already be considered excessive?yed in. I'm wondering if there's something I'm missing. Do I not understand something about this hotel? Is there something I was supposed to do to? Hopefully, something remarkable will happen tomorrow that will make me understand why this resort is rated "Best of the Best." However, at the moment, I'm perplexed and wondering if the ratings for this specific resort are manipulated. I've never experienced such a stark disparity between the rating and the actual experience on Trip Advisor before. On Day 2, we took 45 minutes to relocate our cabana to a section closer to the swimming area of the beach. The taco stand by the beach and the chicken by the main pool were both delicious. We managed to find $20 sunscreen at a nearby pharmacy. Unfortunately, dinner at At Sunset was subpar and took an agonizingly long 2 1/2 hours, which was especially challenging with young children. The restaurant wasn't even that large, and it wasn't busy either. I couldn't understand why it took so long. As a result, we missed the 8:00 PM beach show that we were all eagerly anticipating. And we discovered we could do take out from the buffet and get ice cream there - but they didn't have cones and they only had two flavors:(. On Day 3, despite wearing a pull-up, my 11-year-old son with a processing disorder wet through his pull up, possibly due to swallowing seawater. I promptly informed housekeeping, who were very friendly and promised to change the sheets. We removed all the sheets down to the mattress, expecting them to replace the bedding completely. However, when we returned to our cabana, we were informed that we didn't have it for the day, even though it took about 45 minutes the previous day to secure it and we were assured we would have the same one for the duration of our stay. The staff kept insisting that we did have it for the rest of our stay, as promised, just not on that particular day. It was quite confusing. My brother and his wife and three young children had trouble sleeping for two consecutive nights due to excessive noise. They requested a room change, which was granted. However, the new room was not close to ours, despite their request. Throughout the day, whenever we returned to the room, the bed was made and appeared to have fresh sheets. However, when my sons went to settle into bed, they immediately jumped out, exclaiming, "Mom! The bed is wet and smells like pee!" It turned out that the housekeeping staff had made the bed with the same sheets we had removed. They had not used a bed protector and simply placed a damp top sheet on the mattress, resulting in a strong urine odor. I immediately tried to call housekeeping, but the phone didn't work. It seemed as though they had intentionally disabled it because it was functioning perfectly fine the day before. Unable to contact housekeeping or the front desk, I ventured into the hallway and found a bed protector and new sheets in the housekeeping closet. We took matters into our own hands and changed the bed ourselves. Once again, I find myself questioning the validity of the "Best of the Best" rating. I have never encountered these issues at any hotel I have stayed in before. On Day 4, we took a tour of Chichen Itza that we had booked through Discova at the Hotel. Unfortunately, they took us to a tourist trap where some members of my family were verbally harassed for not purchasing anything. Despite informing the tour operator beforehand that we were not interested in shopping, we were stuck there for about 15 minutes. They even approached my sweet 72-year-old mother and questioned her, saying, "Why are you so upset? Why don't you support us?" to which she replied, "I simply don't enjoy shopping." Although Chichen Itza itself was fine, we were taken back to the same tourist trap for the included buffet, which was not up to par. Instead of exploring the city of Valladolid as we had anticipated, the tour merely drove us in, circled the city center block (which took only 5 minutes), and drove out. However, we had a fantastic time at the Cenote, which ended up being our favorite part of the trip. For dinner, we went to the Italian Restaurant. While the service was exceptional and fast, the food itself was disappointing. On Day 5, unfortunately, we all fell ill. I was particularly unwell with food poisoning and could not leave my bed. The rest of the family suffered from diarrhea throughout the day. We strongly believe it was caused by the buffet at the tourist trap. I experienced severe vomiting, and my special needs son had another accident with his pull-up. I had to leave the room and lay listlessly on a beach chair until the sheets were changed. However, I encountered the same issue again - there was no mattress pad to protect the mattress. Surprisingly, my parents' room also lacked a mattress pad, only having a mattress and a sheet. Did they run out of mattress pads? On Day 6, thankfully, we felt better and decided to visit the Isle of Mujeres. It was an enjoyable experience. The hotel manager responded to my review here on Trip Advisor and wanted me to do more work contacting him on Google or Facebook to address the issues. I found this amusing. Couldn't he have simply looked up my room number? Furthermore, who uses Facebook anymore? And how exactly would I contact him through "Google"? Why didn't he provide his phone number or make a personal visit, especially since my room phone was broken? It seemed odd that the general manager of a resort couldn't locate my room number or phone number, or even email and simply contact me? But instead, put the ball in my court, apparently? I had no desire to work even harder to contact him and "resolve" the issues - when the staff needed to do that. Needless to say, since it's not 2002, I did not reach out to him via Facebook, lol. In the end, he never contacted me IRL. So for all the bad reviews that seem to have an empathetic manager reaching out here on Trip Advisor, just know that the MORE empathetic, appropriate thing would be to reach out privately via the person's email or phone number (you know you have it). Dinner at the Mexican Restaurant was delightful! The service was prompt, the food was excellent, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. On Day 7, the check-out process only took 10 minutes, much to my mother's delight. I jokingly remarked that check-out should ideally be a zero minutes, haha. Then I stood in the shop with the remaining four bottles of sunscreen from the convenience store down the street (since we couldn't carry them on the plane), I decided to give them away to some surprised individuals who were still willing to buy overpriced $47 sunscreen. They were so relieved and happy to receive the donation. This irked the clerk, but brought me immense joy. Please everyone do this with your left over sunscreen, let's start a pay it forward movement! Overall, we had a fantastic time, although I feel compelled to provide this detailed review to question the "Best of the Best" rating. While the beach was undoubtedly exceptional, the remaining aspects of the experience failed to meet our "best of the Best" expectations.

Dear Christy Thank you so much for your extended review! We are sorry for the inconveniences during your stay. TripAdvisor won´t provide any other information rather than your name "Christy C" or your nickname "455pollys" to look for your email or room number on the system. As from my side, I was willing to get in touch with you to look into the situation and try to improve your experience during your stay. There are several ways to get in contact with the hotel and are published in diferent places not only those ones that you may not use as Facebook or Google but Instagram or our website to get to the proper person to get help or just getting close to the front desk and ask for me. As you mentioned Best regards Ignacio R General Manager
