We stayed at this place being told it was a 5 star Resort, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Air conditioning didn’t work you couldn’t eat or rest the entire time because it was so uncomfortable. The place is being bought out by Hyatt Monday, but this is no excuse not to make this dump accommodate the guests there now. Complained every night about the shower draining, by the time you were finished showing you had water up to you calves. The rooms are old and outdated. They claim because you bought in to the preferred package (which cost much more) you had special resort offers, wrong everyone was preferred, no wristband. The food was a joke,, you had the same stuff to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I don’t recommend nor will my family return.
Upgradeded my two rooms for an additional $300 and one of the rooms was hot my entire stay (5 nights). Maintenance came to "fix" a few times with no change, instead they gave me a fan. One of the restaurant was also hot inside so we requested to move tables and the server got pissed at us. We could not believe he was mad we even made sure to leave a tip for his service but he was still upset. My kids had fun, but me and my husband did not have a relaxing time. A few employees do work the extra mile to make sure the guest enjoy their stay, but Im impressed how one small request changed my perception on how some really felt about guests. I even heard some of the cleaning crew and bartenders talking trash about the guest, they didnt know I could understand what they were saying. Will not visit again, did not felt welcomed or wanted there.…
My husband and I went for our 10 year anniversary. We had such a great time. They had events/shows ever night. All the food at all the restaurants were amazing. The whole resort was always clean. The room service was amazing. The coffee bar had amazing drinks. ALL of the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Over all, for my first time out of the country, they made my experience a very special one. Definitely will return.
I am writing this on our last day here, and as always we wish we could stay longer. We came here for a 10 year wedding anniversary and are very pleased with the trip. Jaqueline from the entertainment team is wonderful and very helpful. She assisted us at a wine tasting and we loved that. She also did water aerobics with her and loved that as well. Theo the Sommelier during the wine tasting was also very knowledgeable. The air conditioning is the lobbies/hallways is definitely an issue, but to my knowledge are being upgraded shortly during the long renovation they have planned. By far the best food is at Himitsu! We had no “bad” food, but also weren’t super impressed with any meal except the one at Himitsu! Highly recommend eating there, and Alberto the waiter was exceptional! As mentioned in other reviews, the staff at this resort make your vacation. Every single person we came in contact with was helpful, polite, and very accommodating. Couldn’t have asked for better service anywhere!…
Just winding up almost a week here and I feel the staff at the Dreams Sands made my trip. The facilities are getting a much needed facelift starting in just a few days. I really hope they get more air circulation in the main lobby area. Certain staff members did stand out and deserve recognition. In the spa we received wonderful care from Benjamin and Edna and amazing massages/ facials from Liz and Bianca! Jorge in the preferred lounge made the best drinks every night. My daughter loved the ‘Jorge special’. All the girls in the coffee/ ice cream area were so nice, made great drinks/crepes and even remembered what we liked. Shout out to the staff at Olio as well. We spent most of our time at the beach in front of it and visited it frequently. I really hope AMR realizes the wonderful people they have and are able to keep them through their long renovation. No matter how nice they make this place it won’t matter if they don’t have the exceptional staff that they have now…
We booked a quick getaway to this resort in late July 2022, and stayed only 3 nights (wish it could have been more, of course). This was our first trip as a couple to Mexico, and it did not disappoint. Of course, one must temper expectations when traveling abroad and keep an open mind as to your accommodations/resort buildings, food choices, surrounding geography, and new cultures. We had an amazing time, and this was The customer service was top notch, and although everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful, some were above and beyond. Our waitress Manuela (from the bars) was phenomenal. She always remembered our names and would keep our drinks topped off all day if we wanted. She also provided good tips for some excursions which we enjoyed. Alejandro (our waiter at inside bar) also took excellent care of us. Also met lots of wonderful people from around the world. One item that could use improvement was the dated interior architecture, so the upcoming renovation later this year will be great. The beach was amazing and clean, but you must act quick if you want a “Palapa”(grass roof huts), as they go fast. Beach does have some rocks, so be careful with little ones stubbing their toes if not careful, but was very clean. Bring your goggles and enjoy the underwater views in the clear water. Looking forward to returning in the future!…
What a nightmare at Dreams Sands Cancun, outdated, expensive and we got robbed. My review is long but bare with me, a lot happened during this trip. We had already stayed at the chain´s hotels in Vallarta and in Tulum and we thought booking in Cancun would be a warranty but we were very wrong. Our first impression when we arrived was that of a hotel that gor stuck in the 1990´s. The entrance was under remodeling or construction with welders working and sparks all over the place. And the worst of all no A/C either in the lobby or in any of the restaurants. You´d expect a 5 star hotel to be fully air conditioned but this wasn´t the case. If you asked, the employees´answers would be, this is as cool as it gets or a plain it doesn´t work. When we got to our rooms it got worse. All the furniture is outdated, the linens and towels are rough and dingy, stained and gray, A/C barely worked in all of our rooms. The bed in one of our rooms was broken, first they tried to fix it but of course we asked to be moved and in that process my sister´s Apple watch got stolen. We reported it immediately but nothing was done. We spoke to a Nancy person who was suppossed to give us a solution and she even insulted us with a free night in any of their resorts. Nothing was done and in the process they even suggested that we were making it up. Overall a horrible experience. Word is the place is going to be remodeled but what it really needs is to be torn down. Service is por and slow.…
We stayed in a preferred room with a balcony view of the ocean. It was such a great view. The Japanese restaurant was our favorite. We did the romantic dinner on the beach with filet mignon and lobster tails. It was so delicious. The resort was clean and very friendly staff. Our go to bartender was Lorenzo. He took good care of at all the bars he would work at. They had a buffet dinner on the beach with a show and lve music. That was very nice. I would definitely recommend. This location is across the street from stores just incase you need anything but don't want to pay the prices at the store in the resort. Only a 3 minute can ride to the party strip.
2022 was our 10th year visiting this resort. We just LOVE this place! The beach is BEAUTIFUL. The employees at the hotel are just absolutely WONDERFUL and go above and beyond to accommodate guests. They also make sure the guests at the hotel are happy and safe! The hotel is immaculately clean. They are constantly cleaning/sanitizing throughout the facility. Room/bathroom was always clean and plenty of towels. It is an older building but it is well kept. I feel the age of the building gives it character. Keep an open mind and do not knock until you’ve tried it. Everyone’s opinion/expectations are different. If you want a clean, nice kept hotel with many amenities, a nice calm beach, good food/drinks, friendly/accommodating employees and great security you will LOVE it. Everyone that works there is always smiling. Customer Service is not easy when dealing with different personalities and different cultures. It isn't easy pleasing everyone but I must say that the Dream Sands Cancun employees do a great job! Management/Owners should be proud of all of their staff. A HUGE SHOUT OUT and THANK YOU to the AWESOME EMPLOYEES (Management, bartenders, entertainment, concierge, room service, servers, front desk, beach towel distributors, etc) at Dream Sands Cancun. The following are a few people we interacted with during our stay: Adrian Rivera - Concierge / social media Adrian always goes above and beyond. He is so kind and generous. He makes us feel like family. Adrian Rivera, Jorge Garcia, Fernando Sanchez, Alberto Palacios, Carmen Liborio, Yazmin Villegas, Cornelio Granados, Aaron Gaspar, Ricardo Palma, Tito Ferregut (concierge/social media team) gave us a surprise vow renewal ceremony for our 19th wedding anniversary celebration. It was beautiful! They went ABOVE AND BEYOND! They covered everything: music, flowers, vows, beach setting, decorations, champagne toast, person performing the ceremony, marriage certificate, photos, awesome video and so much more! If anyone is interested in getting married at Dream Sands, I definitely recommend it! How AWESOME is that! They are the best❤️ Also shout out to: Karina Salazar / Briseida Téllez / Yamile Geraldo front lobby too! Bartenders / Servers : Ricardo in the lobby lounge always makes an awesome pina colada, JOHANA and LAURA in the lobby lounge were always pleasant and made sure we always had a fresh drink Gerson (always makes me a Pineapple decorated drink), JUAN / MATEO ZULUP / MANUELA always pleasant and made sure we had a fresh drink These wonderful people were always aiming to please! They are so personable/friendly. CARLOS GARDURA in room service is just a sweetheart! We have known him since the first year we started visiting Cancun! He is a hard worker and always smiling and aiming to please! He likes his job and is very appreciative. We Love this man. It is always a pleasure to see him. Marian Mendoza at the World Cafe is so friendly and accommodating. She was always smiling. Pedro at the World Cafe is awesome! He is always friendly and aiming to please. He made sure the restaurant was running smoothly. The entertainment is spectacular – Jennifer/Karina/Esther/ and the others including the DJ are all GREAT PEOPLE They constantly have activities throughout the day! The Fourth of July celebration was fabulous. They do a GREAT JOB! They remember the guest’s names and are constantly interacting with everyone. Unfortunately because of COVID, there was no foam party. The foam party was a good time and was always a crowd pleaser. Hopefully, if and when things get back to normal the resort can bring it back. The best part of our vacation was seeing old friends and meeting new friends! Looking forward to seeing everyone in 2023!…
We decided to give this resort another go since last time we stayed was 4yrs ago and it’s unfortunate that the issues with the food is still the same. Food is not that great and rice is always uncooked. I do want to give a shout out to the most wonderful people we met on this trip. They are amazing, caring wonderful people that went above and beyond our needs. To JUAN VICAB and GERSON. We are so grateful to you both. May god bless you always. Keep the awesome job you do each and everyday!
