We just completed our 12th trip to the Presidente over the last 25 years. The staff was great as always, and the food was excellent in all four of the restaurants. the hotel took great care in providing masks, sanitizers, etc. and the entire staff wore masks the entire week we were there. Scuba Du remains a Class A dive operator and the snorkeling right off the beach is still quite good.
We stayed here in Feb 2021. Our room was impressive. Our view of the ocean was breathtaking. Our room had a big tub that easily holds two people. Our bed was comfy and everything was immaculate. They took care of our COVID testing, and it only took about 5 minutes to have the test done on site. The Scuba Du dive shop is on site and does an amazing job. The restaurants are delicious and convenient. We used the hotels bikes to explore the city on a couple of days. We did 7 dive excursions. Best diving in the world. Great romantic getaway. Well priced. Great servicve.
We stayed here to do the drift dive we heard so much about. The hotel has a lot to offer, from lovely pools, beautiful grounds, and big breakfast buffet spread. But the convenience of the dive off of its dock, together with the friendly and full-service dive shop, made our stay an exceptional one.
We have stayed at Secrets Aura in the past but lately have been disappointed in the food. About the same price as Secrets for us even though not all inclusive. And so much better! Good food, quiet laid back atmosphere, comfortable rooms with stellar housekeeping service. Best dive shop I’ve ever experienced. We will be back!
Date of stay was August 27-September 3, 2021. Check-in was quick and friendly. Upon arrival we were each given a cold bottle of water. At check in we set up a time to have a complimentary Covid test 72 hours before departure. The test took about 10 minutes and we had the results in two hours. We were assigned to room 1509 on the top floor of the tower section. The room was very large with comfortable king bed; sofa, chairs and tables; an additional table and chairs for dining; bureau; walk-in closet with another bureau and a safe; a large balcony with table and chairs that afforded us amazing views of the water, the hotel grounds, beach, and beautiful sunsets; and, a huge bathroom which is separated from the living space by French doors and had a large, deep soaking tub (no jets) with a full window that looked out to the water, double sinks in a long vanity, a large walk-in shower, and separate water closet. On the vanity was a nice assortment of soaps, shampoo, cooling sunburn gel and even insect repellent. The room A/C was quiet and cold keeping the room very comfortable. In place of the Mimi bar was a small fridge stocked with 4 small water bottles, 2 beers, and 2 cokes which are all complimentary. The fridge is restocked daily. We were also given 2 or more large bottles of water daily. Maid service was excellent and usually twice a day. We did not have turn down service every night, but when we did, a little pamphlet with a Mayan legend was left on the bed. We did not have complimentary robes or slippers and that is probably due to Covid. We really did not miss any of these things and appreciated the complimentary beverages much more. The breakfast buffet is plentiful with nice variety. They have gluten free bread and crackers and you just have to ask for them. Food, service and views at breakfast are outstanding! We ate in 3 of the 4 restaurants for lunch and dinner and all meals were delicious, beautifully presented, and service was excellent. Drinks and variety of wine also were excellent. There were plenty of GF options. We especially loved the Caribeno Restaurant which is right on the water and where breakfast is served. There was a wonderful guitar player at the dinner service and he played quiet, relaxing music. It was just lovely dining there. The snorkeling was great and even better than the last time we stayed here. On the second day snorkeling we saw an octopus! We have stayed at many hotels, resorts and condos in Cozumel the past 25 years and the Presidente has the best snorkeling by far. In-house dive op Scuba Du is very convenient, has nice boats and is very safety conscience. Highly recommend them. Regarding Covid precautions—Everyone working at the Presidente had masks on at all times and there were signs in many locations advising when guests needed to wear them as well. There were plenty of locations throughout the hotel with hand sanitizer and masks, so there was no reason not to follow the rules. Many times we saw guests walking through the hotel lobby or getting on an elevator not wearing a mask which we found to be disrespectful to those working at the hotel. It is such a simple request to insure the health and safety of the hotel staff. The hotel was at very low occupancy. There were many days that we were the only ones on the beach at the south end of the hotel, and not many people on the middle beach or north beach. The day before we left, there was work being done on the south beach to add more sand. And, while the hotel is showing it’s age a little, to us, it is still the best on the island. The rooms, service, drinks and food are a step above all the other places we have stayed, and we love the location. We look forward to returning.…
