We arrived a week ago and have one more week to go. I am going to break it up into a few sections to focus on different items. First of all, the check in. Erica checked us in and my husband mentioned we asked for a king size bed. She immediately worked on finding us a king size bed which is located on the first floor. It is a beautiful room with lots of space, a large bathroom with both a shower and separate bath tub...which we really appreciate. We have a ground floor patio with chairs and a table...nice for hanging out. Our building backs out into a lot of foliage which feels very cozy. We love it. We were also able to book our 3 a la carte restaurants at the same time for seafood, steak and mediterranean food. She gave us bracelets which are needed to access the rooms. These are fantastic. In the past, I have struggled to find my room card and these bracelets stay on your wrist and are extremely handy. If they start to wear...simply exchange them for a new one. The maids/housekeepers are nothing short of amazing. There is always plenty of water, drinks in the bar, lots of towels, and they are very friendly, and quite willing to accommodate special requests within reason. The rooms come with hair dryers and a tv which is lovely. The food: There is a buffet breakfast here which serves the usual buffet items...pretty much everything...from pancakes, french toast, scrambled eggs, potatoes, beans, fruit and a variety of breads. My favorite is the cook who makes omelettes and fried eggs. They do not have sausages and you have to ask the cook for bacon. That said, I love my omelettes and have been eating them all week. There are lots of options. Lunch is usually served near the beach (except if the weather is terrible/windy). Again, lots of options...the fish is amazing. Supper is also a buffet with tons of options and again, in my opinion, it is quite good. You also have the 3 restaurants...to change it up. Overall, we are very happy with the food. We have really enjoyed the cappuccinos! And again, the service is very good. The Diving: My husband and I both scuba dive. The dive shop here very good. It is a padi outfit run by prodive. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, as well as on the ball. We have stayed in other resorts in Cozumel, and have had difficulty doing night dives....the staff seemed to just be coasting. That is not the case here. They work hard, they are very organized and professional. We like the fact that they keep our equipment at the dive shop so we don't have to drag it back and forth. The dive masters have been amazing. They listen to you and if you want to see something in particular, they try to accommodate to the extent possible....of course...they cannot guarantee. In addition, they make an effort to ensure that you go to different dive sites...they ask where you have been....this has not always been my experience. The pools: I should also mention Antonio at the adult pool. He is fabulous...always coming by and serving drinks. We have been spending a lot of our time at the adult pool but spend today at the main pool. Again, great service...did an aerobics class in the pool. The beach is not very big...but it is clean and well kept. In closing, this has a more intimate feel than most of the hotels. The jungle is all around. Not for everyone, but certainly for us, it is lovely. More to come.

Hotel's Favourite
This all -inclusive hotel is one of the best in Cozumel. The rooms are well equiped, meticulously cleaned each day and situated in a well-manicured jungle. There is easy walkable access to the private beach with a boardwalk over the gorgeous swamp. The pool and beach area are well taken care of and the people that work here are very friendly and accommodating. Jesus provided our grandkids with hours of entertainment. And Hector is always a friendly face at the front desk. The food was good for an all-inclusive. Try to book one or two nights’ dinner in the restaurants and enjoy a pretty good meal with excellent service. During Covid some of the activities are limited but the ones they have are enjoyable. All of the staff wear masks at all times and you will be wearing masks in the lobby area as well as when you enter the restaurants. They take your temperature each time you enter the restaurants so it feels safer overall than some places. This was our second stay here ( we were here in March too) and I would recommend it for all you beach babies!

Hotel situated in jungle, relax vibes, big rooms with balconies. Nice attendance in the bars, great drinks. All staff super welcoming and helpful in particular big thanks for Guadalupe Alcocer, who made that my one week in cozumel was extraordinary. Events in the evening is only thing that needs improvement.

My wife and I visited with our parents who have stayed at Occidental Cozumel three times prior. The rooms have tile floors that are cleaned daily and there is plenty of bottle water soda and even beer in the fridge restocked daily. Covid is making business challenging for everyone, but the resort seems to be doing the best they can. The male event coordinator was a gem. I never caught his name because he was always moving. Our last night here he was getting people excited for pool side activites at 9am, and leading the dance floor at 10pm. I dont know where he gets the energy, but he really lights up the active side of the resort. The people who work at the resort are what make a beautiful place worth staying. We had many servers worth mentioning, Christina, Edith, Capitan Thomas, and his brother Danny all took amazing care if us. Thomas made a coffee liquor drink one night playing with fire and putting on quite a show. At one of the reservations resturants we were served a special desert that wasnt off the menu after Thomas pointed us out to the staff that night. They even rembered us mention my fathers birthday and mysterious champagne and chocolate covered strawberries showed up at his room not prompted by any one from the trip. I would love to name all the people who helped us, but there are so many friendly faces at the resort it would be impossible. The drink service around the pool was great and everyone you see even the ground crew, busy at work, will stop to smile and say hello.

Having a perfect destination wedding, is it possible? YES! When you have it at the Occidental Cozumel! Me and the Hubz tied the knot at sunset on the beautiful beach at Occidental this last November. The resort was beyond my expectations of beauty, cleanliness, and accommodating staff in every aspect. The food at the restaurants was exceptional (Go Royal!!!) and the buffet was fine... its a buffet what can you expect... Gorgeous jungle setting with a winding boardwalk opening up to a palm tree lined serene pool overlooking the turquoise Ocean- hello I'm in love! Our wedding coordinator Nadia was on the ball, direct, friendly and accommodating when we finalized our wedding plan once we arrived at the resort. Months prior to planning the wedding, communication was a bit challenging, but I can't blame her for the influx of weddings that had piled up after covid had cooled down for a hot minute and people were traveling again- wedding season was back in full swing and we just had to wait our turn. That being said, everything went smoothly and our micro wedding of 31 guests was a smashing success. Additionally while we were at the resort, we set up excursions around the island and were not disappointed with our adventures. We highly recommend booking a snorkeling trip on the catamaran with the glass floor. We had beers, the best ceviche of my life, attentive guides, and fantastic waters opening up a world of sea turtles, star fish, and rays. Also the ATV jungle ride with a tequila tasting and a jump into the Jade Cenote was thrilling! There were many other features at the resort that provided an exceptional experience. The spa was easy to book and worth every penny- my hair and makeup for the wedding was beautiful and the message was on point. The bars made great drinks and went above and beyond for our wedding party guests- we basically shut down the bars every single night we were there. Being Americans on vacation in a foreign land can probably be obnoxious to most, so we are thankful that the staff not only put up with us but embraced us. I'm looking forward to my 5 year anniversary and coming back to Occidental to celebrate!
