Izla Hotel erroneously charged me over $1800 in June 2022. After hotel staff investigated and confirmed in Aug 2022 that they owed me the money and would refund the charge, they never processed the refund and stopped replying to emails. After 9 months of chasing the hotel, they continue to hold onto my money. DO NOT give this hotel access to take your money.

Husband and I decided to get a day pass here to escape the hustle and party scene on Playa Norte. What a great change of pace. Great pool, beach, food, drinks…but most of all the service from Claudia was the best! Will definitely return to this little slice of heaven

The hotel room smelled horribly of mold and chemicals. I tried a few different rooms but they all were the same. After becoming very sick from the awful smell I had to leave the hotel and stay next door at hotel Belo , which was great and had no mold or chemical smell. I have emailed Hotel Izla multiple times about the problem and I have not gotten a response.

Dear Guest, We are really sorry that you felt that way about our rooms, you can be sure that our hotel does not use toxic chemicals or anything that can put in risk the health of our guests; we also care a lot about your opinion. We understand that every guest is different and can be more sensitive, that is why we offer you to check other rooms with us. Anyway we understand that this was an inconvenience for you and you were no longer comfortable enough to try other rooms in our hotel. We only hope that you can give us another opportunity in the future to change your experience now that we know exactly what your looking for. Sincerely, Sophia E. Concierge

Enjoyed the beautiful pool area, the beach access from the pool and our room was gorgeous. Staff was incredible. Claudia was there all of the days we were pool side and provided the most attentive service I have ever received. She was wonderful and I miss her! Our friends got married at the resort and staff did an amazing job at making things beautiful and stress free. Very impressed. Miss this place a lot!

We were at the Izla Hotel for a wedding. The wedding couple fell in love with the hotel in September 2022 while on vacation in the area. It is located on Isla Mujures, Mexico. As a wedding venue, the hotel staff arranged everything except the photographer. It was a beautiful wedding, the food was good, the music had a good variety of songs and everyone had a great time. The staff was friendly and adjusted without a problem to any changes that came up. As a hotel guest, the hotel had nice rooms. The beds and the pillows were comfortable. Rooms were clean and pleasant. Each room had a small patio or balcony to sit on to enjoy the views. The hotel had a beach, a pool and hammocks in the shade. Claudia at the pool bar made a point of learning our names. She would pass by say Hi and make sure we didn't need anything. All of hotel staff were friendly and professional. They would visit and joke with you if you wanted to or leave you alone. The staff would call a taxi for you and tell the driver where you wanted to go. The Cafe had a good selection of food and would happily accommodate whatever you wanted if they could. We didn't eat in the restaurant but the food sounds amazing. A member of our group took their little girl to the pizza making class then showed us a picture of her eating it. It is a quieter hotel location but downtown shops, bars, snorkeling, etc were just a short taxi ride away. There was an ice bar a short walk up the road. I guess the temperature inside is very cold and so is the beer.

Loved this hotel. Quite. Clean. Loved the entire staff here. From checking in, to getting towels to our room, & grabbing a cab. Two restaurants on site.our waiters Christian & Sharaney were amazing. This hotel is located closer to punta sur, a little away from the hustle & bustle of the center of the island. Renting a golf kart gets you there in no time.

My initial impression was not great. Our room had no refrigerator, the toilets were not TP-friendly, and our floor was so slippery I could smell a lawsuit (but then I remembered I was no longer in America). Housekeeping dried the floor and brought a mini-fridge and then my partner and I went to the pool bar to cash in our welcome drink tickets. The hairnet-wearing bartenders were the real heroes of this joint. Alejandro, Emmanuel, and especially Ramon at the sky lounge were fun hangs while mixing up delicious drinks. We took daily advantage of the 11am to 12pm pool bar happy hour as well as the 6pm to 8pm sky lounge happier hour -- "buy one get one free" drinks from a diabetes-inducing special menu. As vegetarians, our food options at the pool bar were limited but we hacked the system by ordering from the more expansive room service menu and having the food delivered to the pool or beach. Highly recommend the fried avocado tacos. (We never did try the sit-down restaurants.) My partner and I visited during a slow week and got to know a few of our fellow inmates, including one couple with whom we shared an eventful bus ride that ended in a traffic accident (everyone was relatively ok). The hotel scenery was fantastic and we enjoyed relaxing both at the pool and the on-site private beach. A few hundred meters away was a packed strip of sand in front of the somewhat rowdy Ice Bar which made our exclusive area feel even more oasis-y. Bonus for animal lovers, there was a sweet skinny dog who we named Percy providing entertainment in exchange for food scraps and scratchums. My main concern was that both times we requested housekeeping service we returned to the room to find the door slightly ajar. Nothing of ours was stolen, but it was unsettling. Moreover, we noticed open doors on several other guest rooms on our floor. I asked the front desk about it and was told that this was normal procedure (but I'm not sure they totally understood what I was saying). I was also disappointed that the advertised "free drinking water" was capped at two tiny single-serve bottles per day, with each subsequent bottle costing US $2. We ended up hitting the Super Aki grocery store in town to buy huge jugs of water to save money and plastic. Another small annoyance was that we were not able to charge drinks and food to our room because we could not leave a credit card on file at the front desk. My Discover credit card was not accepted and our Visa and Mastercards were debit cards. So every charge required the bartender to call an employee to the scene with a card machine for an individual transaction. That said, all of the purchases were smooth and the employees all very friendly and professional. Overall, despite a few less-than-luxurious hiccups, the stay was very enjoyable because of the welcoming staff and stunning outdoor space. It was great value considering the affordable price. I would return for another vacation if I knew for sure Ramon would be manning the bar!
