First, I have to say that we stayed in this hotel 3 years ago and it was a wonderful experience. Today it was something completely different. We had a 7 day reservation, and we ended up staying only 3 nights. We had to get away from an awful hotel experience, one of the worst. Day 1: 12.30 pm, restaurant closed, we were sent away despite being starved. Arrived at room which had a dirty bathroom floor. The most annoying thing: why the hell must every channel be in Spanish?? Do they not have any non-Spanish speaking guests?? Are we not entitled to watch TV? Day 2: we dared arrive 30 minutes before the breakfast buffet and all we got was cold disgusting food, not a drop left of orange juice, but we did get rude and inattentive service. We asked the front desk to call housekeeping to do a better job at cleaning. We got nothing, bathroom floor was still dirty and then left one lousy towel. 8.00 pm and we went for dinner and the damn restaurant was closed. They said they were fumigating Day 3: arrived at breakfast earlier this time, food was warm but disgusting and tasteless. The entire time nobody came to the table at all. And yes our bathroom floor was still dirty with only 2 miserable towels Day 4: we of course did not waste time at breakfast. We went out and came back at 3, our room was still not cleaned, we asked for it to be cleaned and we came back and they did a terrible job, bathroom floor dirty, empty water bottles not taken away. And here’s the straw that broke the camel’s back: They have this promo saying that happy hour, 2x1 on beers from 2.30 to 4.30, we went to the bar and the told us: “There is no beer of any brand and hence no promo”. We chose to leave this dumpster and then checked in at the Camino Real Hotel which is heaven on Earth. When checking out of the Hilton, the manager didn’t even have the courage of facing us and hear about our ordeal Stay away from Hilton Garden Inn. At least until they get their act together and realize if they keep this up they are heading to the bottom of the worst in Merida.

I really enjoyed my week in Merida and the staff at the Hilton Garden in was a big part of that. Yousi and Ariosto at the front desk went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. Ermilo helped me with my Spanish! I can't wait to come back and stay again.

Just spent 2 nights here but found the hotel to be well connected with free parking, shopping and restaurants; what else do you need? It is actually connected to a shopping center that has a Walmart. We ate at two of the three restaurants located in the mall and found others that we tried as well. Nice décor and good size comfortable rooms. Hope to return one day.

The hotel has so many ads about how the rooms are sanatized and cleaned, which is 100% marketing ploy only. Upon check in, I found hair under 1 pillow, so i open the sheets and found more hair on bed. I question if the sheets were changed between guests. Afterwards, my significant other touched the bathroom door handle and told me it was sticky. By then, i lost confidence on the cleanliness. I wiped all the room buttons with tissue paper, and saw how dusty snd gray the tissue turned. The whole sanatizing routine is B.S. Other issues were that the air conditioner does not hold the temperature. It gets hot every hour or so. The water temperature also fluctuates during shower. The positives is that street noise is not too bad, bed is comfortable, front desk is friendly and nice albeit slow. I didn't try the breakfast buffet because it looked awful. I liked the comfor

I can understand everything has to close 10pm in Merida because of the pandemic, but as a hotel, specially a Hilton, you should have something for your guests if they arrive late at night. At 11pm they just offered us some maruchan soup, unbelievable.

Your comments will help us as we continually work to improve our guest experience. Just to clarify we are a focus service hotel so room service is not 24 hours and as you mention we need to send back our team members to their homes before the hour they are permitted to be in the streets, that's why we cant offer food after 10:00 p.m. We hope you will consider staying with us again in the future. The hotel is okay overall, room is clean and have nice view to the sunset and the city. But be aware that if you order something at the restaurant downstairs it will take you forever to get the order. We ordered lime soup and… waited and waited, we reminded about soup 4-5 times within ATTENTION 1 hour! After that my family left for dinner and 2 hours later I received the call from room service that my soup was ready :))))))) Jesus Christ!! I don’t know if it is more upsetting or funny. But for sure there is a lack of service..

I knew this location was some distance form the main plaza and cathedral but that was no issue since we weren't planning on walking around in the hot hot summer sun much and needed a location we could drive to different areas easily. The staff were all helpful especially the breakfast crew. We enjoyed the varied and filling breakfast which included fruit, chilaquiles, eggs, sausage and yogurt. There were also fresh squeezed juices like green juice and beet and orange. Delicious! Some great points about this hotel: - rooms were clean - AC worked fine the while time - free bottled water in room - able to print from their business center - easy parking in the mall structure Somethings that could be improved - low water pressure (but cool rain shower head) - AC in lobby was either off or super low. I felt bad the employees were prob sweating - took forever to get extra towels to our room (called 2x and still waited 3 hrs) - need reservations for breakfast and the pool, but we didn't know. Staff was very helpful and didn't make us come back later just let us know politely. The hotel is in a mall with direct access to the hotel via an elevator. The is a diner VIPS and a TGI Fridays. We didn't eat at either but got dessert at the Casa Abielos place and they had some good pastries and cake! There is also a Wal-Mart at the top floor which is convenient since we ran out of small travel sunscreen and could buy more.

My husband is a Hilton Dimond and needles to say we are disappointed with this property. We understand there is a pandemic going on, but there were issues with our stay that did not have anything to do with Covid. Towels were set up for only one person, Internet was not working in our room, and only then, after this , they offered to upgrade us. AC in lobby not operating... it was very warm during our stay., perhaps to save money. Security staff very rude at telling us food was not allowed in the lobby due to the pandemic, which we understand, but security staff need to be trained properly and don’t make a spectacle in front of other customers. Breakfast was cold and not with a good presentation. The only good thing is Ingrid at the front desk that was nice and helpful in addressing and solving all these issues during our stay. We have stayed at other Garden Inns with much better service and attention to detail. Overall, My husband did not feel welcomed as a Dimond member.

We loved our stay!! My wife & I were here in Merida from March 4th through the 12th, midway in our trek across the Peninsula. Some context: We sandwiched the culturally enriching/intellectually stimulating stretch of our vacation between 2 bookends of beach-time at an all-inclusive in beautiful Playa Del Carmen. After 2 nights in PDC, we drove to Chiquilá, parked the car & hopped on a passenger ferry to spend a couple days beaching in Isla Holbox before ferrying back to Chiquilá & our rental car. From there we visited the Mayan Ruins of Ek Balam & Chichen Itza with an evening in Valladolid in between. From the Chichen Itza ruins we visited Cenote Ik Kil for a photo Op & to cool off...then drove 80 miles west to our what would be our home base for the next 8 nights...: ....the Hilton Garden Inn Merida. LOCATION: The Hotel is in the "North" part of town. Aside from "Centro", "North" is generally considered to be where Merida's more affluent residential neighborhoods (& the better restaurants & stores that support them) are located. We knew that this fairly new hotel was built above a (fairly new) mall & wondered if that would turn out to be a liability......NOT AT ALL!! Free parking is provided in a covered parking lot attached to the Mall. You can pull up to the front of the hotel to unload luggage (like at most hotels) if you want to, but we found it more convenient to do a "One & Done" by pulling our rental car directly into the free single level parking garage (attached to the mall/hotel) & into a parking space VERY near another mall entrance. Because shoppers are constantly coming & going, good spaces open up regularly. The hotel's elevator is just inside the mall entrance. From there, the Lobby is one button-push away. It should be noted that we experienced no noticeable street or mall noise from our 6th floor hotel room. The multi-level mall (below the 6 floor hotel) is small but well appointed, well laid out, & still looks sparkly new...donning many external ground floor storefront & restaurant entrances around its perimeter...& many more from within. Restaurants like TGI Fridays, Starbucks, VIPS, & Johnny Rockets were little more than an elevator ride away from our room...as is a comfortable cinema with movies in English...& a Walmart (great for picking up snacks, miscellania, & for stocking the hotel room fridge). There is also a convenient money exchange across the street that we used before leaving when were were running low on pesos, & a very nearby gas station...& if, unlike us, your not driving a vehicle, the ADO Altabrisa bus station is 2 tenths of a mile away & will take you to/from the airport or to almost any city on the Peninsula in style. Uber is super-cheap & reliable in Merida & pulls up to the hotel's front door...We Ubered a lot within Merida rather than navigate the city, fight traffic, or find parking...I think, for example, its less than 3 USD to Merida's old colonial Centro neighborhoods using Uber. THE STAFF: We found the staff to be friendly, outgoing, & professional....and fluent in English A real standout was "Milo" (short for Ermilo, I think), our bellman, who befriended us upon arrival and who's resourceful help & practical advice throughout our stay was greatly appreciated. It's very possible that he doubles as the concierge!!? He is very knowledgeable about Merida & Yucatan so please seek him out before adventuring too far out the door. The man who checked us in (I wish I could remember his name) also played a big role in making our time here special by linking our back-to-back reservations together so we wouldn't have to check out & in again mid-stay, and by upgrading us to very spacious & quiet corner accommodations on the top floor. I think he's a manager because he had a trainee under his wing that evening. She was very pleasant as well. The waitstaff in the restaurant were attentive. The omelet chef aimed to please. Housekeeping was meticulous and left us personally written thank-you notes daily (for our tips). THE SUITE: Bright & clean...Everything still looks & smells brand new. One bedroom, 2 full bathrooms, another full size room with couch, table & chairs, desk & counter space. Very quiet. Good city view. Bed was comfortable. Good water pressure. Endless hot water. Room safe in closet. Iron. THE RESTAURANT: Although we mostly ate lunch & dinner off property, we enjoyed a couple good meals here with cocktails from their full bar...& several breakfasts as well. Ample Americano & Yucatecan menu options. I remember the Cochinita Pibil was a very tasty choice, as was the Sopa de Lima. Good Omelets. THE GYM: Cardio machines, a 2 cable/2 pully/2 weight-stack multi-gym like the ones found in many hotels, dumbbells & benches Used a couple times for the cable machine...suitable for vacation purposes. POOL & HOT TUB: Outside on the Lobby Level (at least 3 stories up seeing how the hotel is above the mall & the mall is at least 2 stories tall), the small pool & hot tub afford a nice city view, especially after dusk. Tables & chairs on the deck too. I think (but am not positive) that the hotel's restaurant & bar will serve food & drinks out to the pool deck. OUR ACTIVITIES DURING OUR STAY (& MAYBE IDEAS FOR YOURS): We unpacked & freshened up after check-in Wednesday evening before having dinner & drinks in the hotel restaurant. Thursday morning we drove a half hour north to Progreso for a beach day since we knew there'd be a cruise ship in town that day...Important: Many of the good seafood restaurants & bars at the beach in Progreso are open only on "Cruise ship days". Crabster is one, & has seating & service on the beach across the street from their restaurant, & 'tho a bit pricey for Mexico, it truly was a delicious indulgence to be able to dine on stone crab & imbibe libations on the beach on a beautiful day. We spent the better part of Friday, Saturday, & Sunday in Merida's old Spanish colonial Centro, just a cheap Uber ride away. Friday noon we ate queso relleno for lunch at Manjar Blanco...shopped & bought my wife an exquisite traditional Yuctecan/Mexican embroidered lady's blouse in a nearby boutique, explored the Centro...at night we hung out around Plaza Grande...there's an amazing gelateria adjacent to the park, & every Friday there's a free visually stunning multimedia presentation projected on the old cathedral (also adjacent to the park). We grabbed gelato to go & ate it in front row seats...Don't wait 'till showtime to get a seat...they fill up fast. After that event, we headed over to Rosas & Xocolate where we had reservations for rooftop fine dining, world class jazz, & kiwi mojitos...perfection! Saturday AM we breakfasted at Rosas & Xocolate, walked Paseo Montejo, lunched & imbibed Mezcal at La Negrita Cantina, returned to Plaza Grande to explore, hang out, eat more gelato & grab seats in front of the old cathedral again, this time to watch the exhibition of the ancient Mesoamerican ballgame that Merida puts on for free every Saturday evening. We polished off the evening with ambiance and a fine meal at La Recova Santa Lucia. Sunday morning we breakfasted in Centro, walked Paseo Montejo, & refreshed at a Starbucks along the way. Every Sunday morning they close Paseo Montejo, the main avenue in the historic center, to motor vehicles so people can bike & stroll its length. In the afternoon we hired a driver for 3 hours to show us the various neighborhoods of this city (of roughly a million people) & give us an idea of the rent pricing, property values, & the pros & cons of living in each. Then we freshened up at the hotel, grabbed a quick bite, & took in a movie (in English with Spanish subtitles) in the cinema in the mall below the hotel. Monday we drove 60 miles west to Celestún to enjoy the beach, drink mojitos, eat ceviche & extremely huge shrimp, & take a private guided boat tour of the Reserva de la Biosfera Ría Celestún where we viewed (up close) flamboynces of flamingos, great blue herons, ibises, cormorants, crocodiles, mangroves & more. Tuesday we hopped in our rental car again, this time heading 57 miles south to explore the Mayan ruins of Uxmal & when we returned we had supper at the hotel & then drinks at TGI Fridays in the mall at the hotel. Wednesday we slept in, hung out, went for a walk, changed some money (USD to MEX...started getting low on pesos), Ubered to & ate supper at Dal Baffo Ristorante Bar Italiano. Thursday morning we got an early start, checked out, & made the 4 hour drive back to our all inclusive in Playa Del Carmen where we spent the last 5 nights of our vacation.
