In retrospect, returning home to Canada, our stay at the Gran Hotel was one of the main reasons we had such a memorable trip. Within hours of our stay, we met people from Canada and the States who had spent more than a month there, and felt totally at home as we surely did. The rooms were quite spacious with...

Recently spent 4 wonderful days at this lovely, charming hotel. Arrived on a Sunday thus allowing us the oppertunity to enjoy all the activities going on in the square. Numerous venders with their homemade crafts, Mexican music and or course wonderful mexican dancers. I was able to purchase a beautiful handmade embroidered tapestry in the square for a fraction of...

What a classic old hotel. We spent 10 days here recently. If you are looking for history and location close to the plaza this is the place. You won't have all the bells and whistles of a new hotel but you will be surrounded by antiques and elegance The rooms vary in size. All have mini refrigerators and flat screen...

Great location in the central part of Merida, within easy walking distance to many attractions. We were very disappointed with the fact that a restaurant/bar is advertised (and was there last year); however, it no longer exists on the property. The parking is located 3 blocks away from the hotel, and although it is free, it is open from 7:30...

A friend and I stayed here for 2 nights in early December. It's a funny little hotel - the decor in the lobby is very mishmash, but in a quirky way. If a hotel was ever haunted, it would be this one! The staff were nice, however there was a lot of confusion when we asked for ice. The hotel...

Made a superior choice in choosing the El Gran Hotel for a month-long stay in Merida. Stayed in the room just to the left of the entrance on the entry level. Spacious and comfortable. It was built in 1901 so it's not the newest, fanciest hotel. However, it is full of charm. And, has air conditioning! The El Gran Hotel...

The Gran Hotel is smack in the midst of Merida, perfect for walking around the city. The room was spacious, though somewhat quirky (no windows, mismatched furniture). Purified, refrigerated (!) water is provided on each floor. Very quiet, with huge verandas outside our room, providing sitting areas galore. No breakfast included, however, numerous restaurants are steps away. Parking is provided...

We had the best time. This hotel is reasonable and is in the best location. It oozes with old fashioned atmosphere. Mike sure you get a room with a window on the plaza. The staff is super friendly and we are so grateful they recommended a day trip to Hacienda Peon. This is the perfect outing that has everything, swimming...

This is a hotel in the old style, now sadly missing from most places. It has personality and it gives a view into the lifestyle of more than century ago. The property is well maintained, with attention to authentic details. The main hall is a spectacular structure around the central court, very ornate. A veritable dip into early 20th century...
