Certificate of Excellence
Playa Maya is right on the beach and centrally located, just 1 block from 5th Avenue, the heart of activity in Playa del Carmen. Our unusual off-street location and beach-only entrance make us a very tranquil base from which our guests can easily explore all the shopping & nightlife of Playa, along with the other wonders of the Riviera Maya.

Great location, right on the beach. There is no street side entrance so the only entrance is on the beach, which can be an issue for those with large/heavy bags needing to drag them across the sand. The entrance is about a 2 minute beach walk from the nearest sidewalk so not too

Perfect location. Great staff. Liked our room with an ocean view. Breakfast included, but pay a bit more to get huevos rancheros. Lots of fun shops and food just steps away. You access the Hotel from the beach. Hotel will help with your bags. We were travelling light and p

Stayed one night at this hotel while I was passing thru PDC. Cool little hotel. Not very expensive given its great location.
My room was nice and very clean. Room was larger than I expected. Everything in the room worked and the staff was very helpful.
Only reason I gave it 4/5

During our visit there were a few problems with the room but I did not report them to the staff because I was not too concerned about them. First issue was the shower had low water pressure and I believe that the bathroom sink had more pressure but the flow was good enough for th

Dear Ken, Thanks for taking the time to write up your comments here for others to see. We always appreciate that, and the only thing is that I wish you had in fact let us know of any of those details in your room during your stay, so that we could have helped out and clarified or fixed them or whatever we could do to make you even more comfortable. That said, it sounds like you enjoyed the property and location and other things quite a lot and were satisfied overall, so that's great! Sorry you didn't discover how good our food was right off, but glad you enjoyed that, as well, in the end (especially those mango smoothies). :-) Well we hope to see you back here at some point in the future, but thanks again! We've been coming to Playa Maya for 10 yrs. and it never gets old. Love the staff, love the fact you can only access it from the beach and love the location. There's 4 couples we've met over the years that come at the same time every year, it's like reuniting with old friends ev

Hello, I'm contemplating making a reservation. Do you have room that will accommodate a family if 5? We have 3 children. Thank you!
Hi there, so I was looking at your website for the lists of dates for short stay and was unable to see it and no email address. So my question is can you accomadate two couples for two separate rooms for Friday feb 15th checkingvout saturday feb 16th? Sorry but did not want to call from Canada and no email contact info!
Hello, and thanks for your message and for considering a stay with us. Yes, you won't normally see listings for short stay (below min) openings for any period until it's a bit closer at hand, as those appear after more bookings have come in and we see how things are fitting together. Bookings for a year in advance have only begun to come in now. Our email address and telephone numbers are listed on the "about us" page of our site, and we do have a US/Canada number for reservations questions. (Unless you mean here on TripAdvisor, in which case such contact info is not permitted in a listing for a business without a payment arrangement to the site.) You can also just click on the big blue "Reserve" button on the front page or from any of the rooms pages on our site, and send us your details that way. I can go ahead after this and send you a private message here using the TripAdvisor system, so you'll have the info handy. Hope this helps! Stephen Ryberg Playa Maya

Does Playa Maya provide bottled water for drinking?
Hello, and thanks for your question. Yes, as noted on our web site, we provide unlimited purified drinking water free to all our guests during their stays. This may be in the form of bottled water (courtesy bottles placed in your room) or you may obtain it at any time from the large water tanks placed in public areas of the hotel.

Does the fridge have a freezer in it?
Hello again. Each fridge does have a small freezer area, although these are mini-fridges and that freezer area is not necessarily as efficient as a freezer as compared to one in a full-sized fridge.

My wife and I are considering a stay with you in December of 2017. I use a mobility scooter, and I was wondering how easy it would be to get the scooter into the lobby and our room. I am able to walk some and climb short flights of stairs. How handicap accessible is the facility? Thanks!
Hello, and thanks very much for your question. I'm sorry to say it, but in fact we are probably one of the least easily accessible properties in central Playa del Carmen, at least. I mean we have had wheelchair-bound guests in the past — I personally helped carry one up stairs many years ago! — but among the property's nice points would certainly not be ease of accessibility. In your case, for example, well the scooter would need to be carried some 15 yards or so from the point where the nearest street dead-ends at the beach to our entrance, as we are accessible only be the beach. Then there would be some additional carried up some steps and over our pool to the first rooms (the Jr Suite with Kitchenette type). So it can be done but it would not be easy or simple, I'm afraid. Please feel free to email us and we can communicate more in detail that way or by phone, to see what could work. But in the meantime, I hope this helps!
