I think we were the only people staying at the hotel. Didn't see any other guests there our whole stay. Staff were trying to rip us off buying water and ice cream so we decided to go across the road and got it for half the price. Restaurant didn't look like it was functioning. Pool definitely wasn't functioning but would...

The "manager" told us he was offering a 50% discount with was bulls**t because this place can't be worth 1400 pesos a night for 3... It's unwelcoming, the manager is not nice at all. The room was barely clean, sheets smelled like bleach. The pool was empty, and wifi only worked in the lobby. Lights were not functional and water...

Its hard to find anything good to say about the place except the sheets were clean and the air conditioning worked. The location is good but the rest is dire. The room was full of small red ants, the price was too high for the quality and the man at reception is terribly unhelpful and unfriendly and sleeps in the...

The hotel's location is ideal, as it's located at the entrance to Tulum's Archeological Zone. The rooms were very clean, the air conditioning and Wi-Fi worked, but if you want to charge your devices or computer up, bring your own adaptors; all the outlets that worked were the old two-slotted ones with no ground. The three-prong outlets had no power,...

My boyfriend and I were excited to see this hotel as it was ranked in our travel guide as a good budget friendly option. We went into the reception area and asked if we could see a room before paying. Simple request I think. The man at the desk didn't even look up at us and just pointed to a poster...

I’m not generally motivated to write reviews without some sense of reason. My stay a few nights ago at Hotel Acuario, Tulum Mexico was so disappointing, I feel quite motivated to alert others. I’ve been driving across Mexico for days (Guadalajara to Cozumel), and was in need of a decent shower and some sleep. Read about the hotel just across...

My girlfriend and I were travelling the Yucatan peninsula 3 years ago and on arriving in Tulum we spent the day trying to find somewhere to stay. Basically we really struggled to find anywhere that we wanted to rest for the night. Eventually, desperate and tired we entered the Acuarion as a last resort. It is a vile and disgusting...

Upon arrival at the hotel all looked ok, a little run down but we only wanted a clean room. However on closer inspection this was a very weird place, it was like it was stuck in a time warp and as if nothing had been moved (bottles behind bar etc) for 20 years! It reminded me of a cross between...

The lobby/restaurant smelled really bad! It was intolerable to breath! There was a lizzard in the room upstairs. Everything seemed to be falling apart. I wonder what would happen during an earthquake... No way we would stay there! When we asked for our money back the owner became very aggresive!!!!... We got scared and left... I can't believe this place...

Acuario is right off the main road that goes from Cancun to tulum. Unfortunately, it is outside the city of Tulum, so cars will blast by at high speed all day and all night long. the noise is simply deafening. There is not a single room in the hotel where you can find a moment of respite. The hotel lobby...

“If you have an open mind and sense of adventure, loving surprises, and taking a few small disappointments in stride, you'll love it. It is old, classic, Mexican, charming in a way. Avoid the owner if possible.”
