There are literally a million other places in Tulum (beach front) that offer better services for a fair price. I paid 200 usd per night (stayed 3 nights!) for a room with no air conditioner (i work in africa and i am used to the...More
I've been to Tulum at least five times in the last year or two and I must say that this is an ideal place to stay for someone who wants the best of all worlds. Good location, great price, delicious breakfast on the roof each...More
After two nights surrounded by desperate middle aged American women talking about banana republic receipts at 6 am, we check in Posada del sol. Small, intimate, authentic mexican but ooohhhh what a beautiful original room. Super hot water. Discreet staff. Amaaaaazing breakfast ( if you...More
We could not have been more delighted with this basic but lovely inn. Pasado del Sol is perfectly in tune with the natural rhythms of Tulum. With unique but tasteful local style, such as painted stucco walls, integrated driftwood accents, handmade furniture, and open air...More
I traveled to Tulum with a friend this past week and we enjoyed most everything about La Posada del Sol. The service, the breakfasts, the location, and the people all were fabulous. We liked both rooms we got to experience during our recent four-night stay....More

No air conditioner. We were there the last week of July and, although it was hot as hades, the ocean breeze kept the room comfortable. I can't speak for the "jungle side" rooms, which may not have the breeze. Once we got off the water, the temperature was very different (i.e. sweltering!) I suspect that is why the "jungle side" of the road is mostly populated by shops and restaurants, and the hotels are on the ocean side.
The ocean and beach were awesome! It was very "swimmable". It is on a cove with a sandy beach book-ended by outcroppings of rocks. I also read reviews about seaweed issues in the water but we didn't have a problem. The sand was white and the water was clear and blue. My husband, who has traveled more extensively than me, said Tulum had the nicest beaches he's seen in the Caribbean. Yours is a good question, though, because a few of the hotels (even luxury hotels) we visited while there had little or no beach, just pools and rocky coastline. Have a great trip!
