This family run hotel, on the edge of a lakeside village in rural Abruzzo is an absolute gem. We stayed there as part of a walking group in unseasonably wet weather and the hotel owners and staff pulled out every stop to make us comfortable. The rooms are simple but spotless, with comfortable beds and good showers, and were cleaned daily. The food is traditional for the region and varied, and the very specific dietary requirements of some of our group were responded to with great care. Beyond the hotel the village of Villetta Barrea and, at the other end of the lake, Barrea are charming, and the surrounding countryside, a protected nature reserve, simply beautiful, with abundant wild flowers at this time of year and, when the rain stops, cuckoo song all around. Our thanks to our delightful hosts and staff.

Hotel Degli Olmi was like another home away from home! All the staffs were so accommodating and very kind. We came here as part of our college class and had such an excellent time. The hotel is very clean, there is a great gym, pool, and much more. It is located in a convenient location, where you could walk into town easily. The food here made by Chef Dodo and Ivan was amazing. There was always a lot of variety and creative dishes. They accommodated all dietary needs our classmates had. We had the luxury of eating breakfasts, lunch, and dinner every day for about 10 days. I would love to come back again!

Hotel degli Olmi, a small-medium family owned hotel, the parents run the business while their sons support, the elder one as an all round talent and a waiter, very friendly and professional and the younger as one of the cooks, he cooks and bakes so well with only 21 years of age, enviable! Great and toward coming service: separate blankets? Vegan and gluten-free? you name it, they will do their best to satisfy your needs Very good and diversified Italian food: we stayed 7 nights half-board: none of the dishes were repeated, there was a constant change while always having 3 choices for each first or main course. Partially own (excellent) fresh bread, home made desserts Good local wines for very fair prices Location: 1000m above sea level near a beautiful small lake. We enjoyed the moderated summer temperatures Maintenance and cleanliness are the weakest member in the chain, however still in an acceptable level I would recommend this hotel and I would visit it again

A small family owned hotel in beautiful Abruzzo. The room was comfortable and spotless. The food was excellent. But the best thing was the attitude of the staff. From the first moment they were extremely warm and helpful. They don't just accommodate your every need, they actually think ahead and expect it. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel.

I have enjoyed staying at Hotel degli Olmi over many years, every time I visit the region of Abruzzo. I keep returning because of its impeccably clean rooms, caring service by staff, and excellent food. The new dining room area is impressive and the pool is a welcome joy in a mountain resort. I highly recommend the hotel to anyone that wishes to experience the calm and beauty and tranquility of Abruzzo's mountains.

This was our second visit and we were pleasantly surprised and very grateful for the warm welcome by the owners and the team. The hotel is a peaceful and the food is delightful. Simple typical Abruzzi meals. A great area for walking or even just sight seeing.

A dream come true: a comfortable hotel right in the middle of a National Park! We stayed a whole week in Hotel degli Olmi, and liked it so much that we returned three weeks later just for lunch. The hotel service, rooms and facilities are impeccable, but the food is exceptional! And the welcoming is so warm that we felt like coming back home. Villetta is a pleasant and very well kept village in the Abruzzo National Park. Early morning, deers wander in the paths along the river, even in the streets. They sometimes come so close that they graze flowers in the gardens. Hard to find more charming companions when jogging or just taking a walk in and around the village! The natural environment is stunning. But the village itself is very lively. Don't miss an early capuccino or hot chocolate at Giuseppe's bar. Nor the market on Saturday morning. Most of all, we've been so well pampered at the Hotel degli Olmi and its restaurant that we now only look forward returning again. And again...

I stayed at Hotl degli Olmi for one week, and would definitely go back if I had the chance! It is a family owned hotel, and is run very well - everyone is really friendly and accommodating. The rooms are clean, and the hotel is very welcomimg. The food is incredible as well; three weeks after leaving Villetta Barrea we were still thinking of the food at Hotel degli Olmi and went back just for lunch! If you are visiting Villetta Barrea, be sure to go to Hotel degli Olmi!
