The reason for my trip, a long weekend, to San Miguel de Allende and stay at Hotel Matilda was for a friend’s wedding. The hotel came as a recommendation from the bride-to-be’s family. Let me start off by saying what I liked about the hotel: the rooms are clean (but small), and the hotel lobby and common areas are beautifully...

We were quite concerned about this incident, and removed the food charge as a courtesy to the guest. Fortunately, this guest’s experience didn’t reflect that of the entire group – another member of this party contacted us to say “the food was delicious, and the service was seamless…we could not have asked for more.” This response reflects the great majority...

This is truly the best hotel in San Miguel.... especially for those who appreciate contemporary design and excellent service. We spent 7 nights and have only wonderful things to say. It felt like our home away from home for the week. The staff were warm and yet professional. The rooms are all beautifully appointed and the location is excellent. A...

Dear Debra: We’re so happy you enjoyed your stay at Hotel Matilda. As you undoubtedly discovered, we have many Canadian residents here in San Miguel so we trust you made some friends while you were here. There are some wonderful upcoming festivals in San Miguel, and special art events planned at Matilda, so the “buzz” you mentioned will continue to...

Hotel Matilda really cares about being not only a design but also a boutique hotel, going back to the time when service was paramount in every aspect. That, plus the warm chic design of everything, makes this property one of my favorites worldwide. Major cities need more of these properties and service standards!

On behalf of the entire staff at Hotel Matilda, we want to thank you for your kind review - we are truly thrilled that you enjoyed your stay. While the design, art and ambience are important to creating our unique environment, there is nothing more important than a committed staff who really cares about our guests. And we really do!...

Here is the upside from my POV. Live in Guanajuato and come spend a night in SMA every couple of months. I thought I would try a new spot. I am definitely not a tightwad with my money; sometimes an issue in my relationship - but I stray. The staff was very nice and well trained. The location is very...

This is by far the best hotel boutique in town. I've been to the new Rosewood in SMA, which is quite nice, but with a different concept from Hotel Matilda. I agree with past reviews on the variety of the artwork throughout the hotel, Spencer Tunick at the bar and spa, Nacho Rodriguez´s psychedelic patio at the reception is amazing...
