Staying for two nights we were welcomed by a lovely girl who was very informative, totally "into" her job and full of fun. In fact the owner and all his staff were excellent, and eager to make our stay enjoyable. Room 5 with a view of Whittington Castle across the road was spacious, spotless, warm and comfortable. Well equipped with...

Recommended by my mum who'd been there many times - this time didn't disappoint. Welcoming hello from the bar tender (may have been the owner) as we walked in. Really nice and warm inside with a lovely decor. Ordered a starter of calamari ( can recommend this) and A sirloin steak cooked to perfection with chips and veggies. Huge portions...

We stayed here as a group of four, for two nights at the end of September. The rooms was great, clean & comfortable. The whole establishment is welcoming , cosy and clean. We had breakfast on both days and the good quality produce was cooked to perfection. We had one evening meal on the Saturday night which was delicious and...

A lovely old fashioned pub in a lovely village setting complete with castle ruins. Friendly landlord and staff. We ordered a grilled plaice with mushy peas and a chicken curry with rice and chips. The curry was served over a whole chicken breast and had lovely spicy flavour without being too hot. Chips were served separately. When the food came...

Very impressed with this fabulous place, which is a good stop-off point. The staff were very friendly, we had a lovely room and bathroom, everything in this place was so well thought out. It had a basket on a dresser in the hallway, that had all the little things you might need and forgotten to bring, as well as shower...

Restaurant made our family very welcome during an annual family reunion lunch for a dozen people, including two children. A good, varied menu, with an excellent choice of Sunday roasts, fish dishes, international cuisine and vegetarian options at good prices and in homely surroundings with good service. Desserts were a little bland and uninspiring, however. Children's meals also available.

Stopped for lunch here with my parents. Managed to get a table looking out onto the castle across the road - lovely. The lunch menu is a bit restrictive (especially desserts). I asked if we could have garlic bread with the meal and was told if it wasn't on the menu then they wouldn't do it. However, the food we...

We visited Ye Olde Boot Inn on Saturday 20th Aug for a Saturday lunch. We had been before and the food was lovely. To start nobody came to take our order so we were waiting a while for someone to come, in the end someone went up to order. Food ordered: 2 pea and ham soup, gammon and chips and...

Very nice Sunday lunch. Excellent 2 course value. Calamari starter was really tasty, light crisp batter rather than the ubiquitous ready frozen thick crumb covering. Roast beef lunch and vegetables were good - just would have rathered a couple of thinner slices of meat than one thick. Good service and good quality.
