We were there the end of June and first week of July. We rented a car and parked in Cabo San Lucas, walked the streets, visited shops, restaurants without any incidents at all. We felt as safe as we do at home in Dallas. We also drove north to Todos Santos and spent an entire afternoon walking the town visiting shops, after eating lunch at The Hotel California. Based on our experience, I wouldn't worry. Just use the same precautions you would use at home. Hope this helps!
