Just completed 8 days here and truly enjoyed them all. Some of my facts may be off a bit but in talking to the "hands on-always present" GM-- Geraldo--I believed to remember him saying that this structure/building is one of the originals still left on this gorgeous stretch of beach and is approximately 70 years old. Don't know if I heard that correctly but I am a 3rd generation commercial contractor and that info seems accurate. Point being is that this structure is a true architectural gem that the Vela family acquired and rehabbed into a special boutique hotel. And the thing that impressed me most is that I witnessed some workers continuing on with the cleaning prepping patching and painting of the areas that need same. Most everything is cement and plaster so they are doing a fine job continuing the final touches here. Mind you this work is very quiet and not a disturbance to anyone. It is just great to see that the owners want to get things perfect. The views are amazing. The food is solid & great choices breakfast lunch and dinner. The rooms are lovely clean and comfortable. ALL staff so friendly and helpful. Every single one- every single hour- everyday. The value received here is beyond words. I have stayed at some of the finest hotels in Los Cabos that cost me 4/5 times the charges here and I am not sure if I would ever do that again. There was some conversation that the Vela's are going to construct another small hotel next door to Mar Del Cabo and I cannot wait to hear more news on that and see that finished product. With their signature property Grand Velas right there---and Mar Del Cabo right there-----and the new boutique hotel planning on being right there-----The Vela's will dominate this end of the beach and have a resort/hotel system that can satisfy every travelers wants/needs. Great vision/planning/and execution. Thanks for a great time.

Gorgeous boutique hotel. Amazing staff - warm, friendly, accommodating, competent. Gorgeous landscaping, grounds super well kept up. Spacious, well decorated, comfortable rooms and bathrooms. Large, beautiful, warm pool with no 'deep end' has. Pool-side bar. Excellent chef and kitchen staff producing delicious meals with artistic plating. Honestly, first class all the way. Oh! Nice pool table and gym. Fast wi-fi throughout. Staff did everything possible to make our stay comfortable, enjoyable, delicious (did I say delicious)? AND - the week before the New Year, baby sea turtles hatched and scrambled down the beach into the sea (where humpback whales passed) each day. Amazing! ONLY downsides are the 109 steps from check-in to beach. If you want to avoid steps as much as possible, arrange to stay close to the dining level (one flight up from beach and swimming pool). Also they warned us not to swim in the ocean due to strong currents (but we did see a few people swimming without apparent trouble).

Thank you very much, Mike, for reserving with us at Mar del Cabo and sharing your detailed comments on what you experienced firsthand as our valued guest. Your list of observations and things to do are very informative for any potential visitor to our boutique hotel. Everything from our landscaping to our rooms, all the way to our chef's "delicious" menu, earned your great approval. And as for the steps, they certainly add to the enchantment of the architecture, but not to fear, we have a golf cart ready when you feel the need to move in style. We hope you can make the return trip in time and continue to witness Mother Nature at her best with her playful whales and her turtle hatchling's race to the sea. Until then, my friend, we wish you all the best for 2022. Take care, GERARDO VELA DIRECTOR GENERAL MAR DEL CABO

Every positive thing people say in the reviews about Mar Del Cabo is true. My best friend and I stayed 5 days here, and we left feeling refreshed, taken care of, and like we made new friends. People warned us about the safety of Cabo as we are two women, but I felt 100% safe at the hotel and beyond that, felt like people were looking out FOR our safety. Sergio, Antonio, Alejandro, Victor, and Cesai are now our best friends so I hope they're cool with that :) They were professional, friendly and made us laugh. They even helped me practice my Spanish! It was like they anticipated our needs/wants and were one step ahead of us at all times. I loved the fact that it was a small hotel, it was never crowded and we felt safe hanging out on the beach even after dark. The beach service during the day was clutch as well, hanging out on the beach chairs being served mimosas/margaritas/nachos. The food at Encanto was great, I'm a pescatarian and they made sure to let me know if any food was outside my preference. The camaron de ajillo (garlic shrimp) was unbelievable. You have to try the bean nachos! Our stay could NOT have been ANY better. I usually don't go to the same place twice, but I'm coming back to Mar Del Cabo, since I now have amigos there.
