The hotel is very charming on the outsie, but....
Room twenty one is a suite with a sitting area, small kitchen, small bedroom and ample bathroom which has been modernized. The remaining parts of the suite, although very clean, need to be modernized as well....More
Gorgeous tile work and metal sculptures everywhere. Within walking distance from the San Pedro Mall and the Cinimas. Quaint rooms, wonderful breakfast. We stayed in room number three, small but no screens on the windows, so we had to keep the bathroom and bedroom windows...More
We arrived here from La Fortuna on our way out of Costa Rica and stayed over for our flight the next day. From the street, the hotel looked closed. But around back through the security gate we found a welcoming little lobby. The employees there...More

There is a courtyard with a grassy area and some artwork and there is a picnic table where you could sit outside and read. There is also an outdoor patio with some tables and chairs next to the breakfast area where you could sit. There is a lot of open space so I think you could probably find a spot to enjoy the nice weather. Also if you walk out of the hotel parking lot and turn left, it is a very short walk to the main campus for UCR and there are lots of grassy areas, benches, etc. to enjoy on campus. To find out about the cancellation policy, I would advise that you email the hotel directly. They were prompt in replying to my questions prior to our trip.
