A great mythological flood broke the islands into 800 mostly uninhabited, limestone and granite islands. Pila Island is one of the islands created from this legend. A tented lodge offering luxurious amenities with a focus on sustainability and comfort. Off the beaten path, the outdoor beachfront open restaurant is just steps away from the crystal clear water and pristine shoreline. Relaxing lunches, cosy or formal dinners.

I stayed at Awei Pila for 3 nights toward the end of February 2019. The staff waited on me on hand and foot. The service was phenomenal ! The food served in the spacious main reception/restaurant area was fantastic. My first night there, I was served a seafood platter that included fresh squid obtained from local Moken villagers. Delicious! These air conditioned yurts are built so that they seem more like a traditional home. I thoroughly enjoyed taking in the view from the sofa on the attached wooden terrace in front of my room. The bathroom is an attached roomy structure built on a solid foundation entered through a door at the back of the yurt. Attached to the bathroom is a completely sheltered and private luxurious outdoor shower! Walks on the long secluded resort

We stayed at Awei Pila in mid February 2019 with our two girls and can thoroughly recommend the hotel, staff and island. We were met at the airport by Awei Pila staff and taken to a nearby hotel with a great view of the coastline and sea as we arrived a few hours before the scheduled departure of the boat to the island itself. Service at that hotel was pretty average (average and slow food and drinks) and this put our later experience at Awei Pila into perspective. The boat trip to Awei Pila's takes about three hours but the boat is large, stable and well equipped for the journey with three levels / areas to sit or lie around. It quickly becomes apparent that the Mergui Archipelago is a very special place with an incredible range of sea and sand colours and little evidence

Awei Pila is a newly opened resort, with a resort feel, yet in a remote, tropical location, on a far away island among the hundreds in the Mergui Archipelago. Far away from the crowds of Phuket, this offers a more private and exclusive place to unwind and relax, appreciating the splendour of nature and the wellbeing of barefoot luxury treatment. Around 2.5 hours from Kawthaung, you cruise among the islands, on a smooth ride, 450 horsepower taking you to your destination, a forest-clad island, where one bay hides away a resort with 24 tented villas. Centrepiece is the main reception area, where a cafe/bar provides refreshments in style while the restaurant supplies nicely presented international cuisine. This open-air restaurant looks out to the curved infinity pool, which

The moment you arrive by boat on the island you immediately realize that you have stumbled across something that has become very rare these days. A place that has not been discovered by mass tourism, or should i say tourism in general.. It is pristine and stunningly beautiful. The resort itself is tucked away between jungle and beach, blending in perfectly with its surroundings yet giving perfect views across the Andaman sea. We were welcomed by the manager Jon and from the moment we arrived until the day we left we felt we were treated like royalty. Everything is just spot on. The rooms are clean and fresh, the food is amazing and the staff is so friendly and competent.. what more could you want? Activities on and around the island are well put together. When I first found Awei Pila online in Oct 18 it looked amazing and wanted to book straight away. A little nervous as it wasn’t open until Dec 18 and decided to look up who the GM was online. When I found he had previously been GM at The Veranda in Phu Qouc, while we stayed there one Xmas several years back I knew from the personable service and ship he ran there that we would be in good hands and decided to take the risk for 4 nights in despite there could be initial teething problems still in January with it being new. What teething problems?! We couldn’t find any. Even the 3hr boat journey through some of the stunning islands to get to Pila was smooth and pleasant. The super stunning comfortable bungalow, pool / restaurant setting and world class chef were just the start.
