Castallack Farm offers two self-catering cottages & one self catering apartment The Farm is situated in an ‘area of outstanding natural beauty’ midway between Mousehole and Lamorna and just five miles from Penzance.
We stayed for a week in Tremerth cottage and what a find this was. The cottage has a large living room and decent sized bathroom. In addition a great sized shower unit with a shower that actually has good pressure and doesn't dribble out as can happen at some places. A large bed and good storage and drawer space which isn't always the case. The kitchen is well equipped and was topped of with the famous Lemon Drizzle cake that people have mentioned - tempting to finish in one go but we did manage to make it last for a few days!
The location is ideal for exploring the Penwith area of Cornwall and is easily accessible by car, allowing of course for the narrow lanes that are found in this part of the world. Most places are good for cars with the probable exception of Mousehole, I'd suggest parking by the Bus station In Penzance and taking the bus into there. A bus day ticket is about £3.50 and saves the stress of negotiating the narrow lanes and trying to park, so well worth it.
If you like dark skies with no light pollution then this is a good place for that. The cottage is dog friendly and an ideal place for your four-legged friend. Ours loved the setting with an enclosed garden by the cottage which meant he could trot around without fear of running off.
There is Wi-Fi available, it's not superfast fibre but is more than adequate for the average visitors needs, after all you're supposed to be relaxing and not on your phone/I-Pad ! Freeview on the TV and a DVD player as well, so bring your own DVDs.
The hosts are lovely and you could not wish to meet a nicer couple. They are welcoming and have put a lot of thought into the cottage in terms of layout and equipment. That has paid off and gives somewhere lovely to stay.
All in all somewhere that I would love to come back to and hope to do so.

Castallack Farm is set away from town down the rural narrow Cornish roads of Penwith district. Communication with the Farm was excellent, catering for my arrival time and needs. Covid rules were clearly explained and easy to follow. Google maps found the property with ease and directions were helped with extra information provided by email.
The accommodation was very clean, and the facilities were perfect for me and my dad’s needs.
The feel of the accommodation and surrounding areas was very peaceful. The owners were very attentive offered help with local information. A variety of breakfast was offered and cooked to an excellent standard. The outdoor grounds are caught in a sun trap, a perfect place for a morning coffee whilst gazing over the fishpond.
Situated between Penzance (main town) and Lamorna cove, a small costal beach, everything is within a driving distance. This stay is away from town adding to its privacy; great for walking or getting away.
Rachel and Nick were the perfect hosts. Great food, information creating a friendly environment.
Me and my dad would happily stay there again, no doubt. A real gem!

We have been coming to Cornwall for a few years & love to stay here in the beautiful one bedroom cottage. Very well equipped (kitchen) it’s a great size with separate kitchen, lounge, bedroom & bathroom (with shower) The bed is huge & very comfortable. Tv in bedroom & lounge. There is a private garden too for the cottage that has stunning views, a picnic bench & a good sized fire pit to gather around of an evening. There is a separate laundry room on site. The owners are very friendly while also giving you space so you feel like you are in your own Cornwall bubble, they take great care of Castallack & there are several walks right on the doorstep. It’s Close to Lamorna, Mousehole,Newlyn & Penzance & by car any part is within an easy distance. Castallack is a beautiful, tranquil hideaway, in a great location where you feel right at home

Thank you Martine for your lovely review of our cottage, Tremerth. You are perfect guests & we are always pleased to see you return to Castallack. The 'wild' garden has proved to be a really great addition & has been one of the high;ights for our recent guests. We look forward to seeing you again. Best wishes, Nick & Rachel.

We stayed here for one night while walking the South West Coast Path and felt very spoilt. Lovely room and bathroom, loved the dressing gowns and beautifully cooked breakfast. Didn’t meet Rachel but Nick was very friendly and helpful. The only thing is that the local pub is closed so you have to go to Mousehole to eat. It’s £10 each way in a taxi if you don’t have a car

Thank you so much for your great review of our B&B. Really pleased that you enjoyed your stay, it was a pleasure to meet you especially so soon after we were allowed to welcome guests again after accommodation lockdown. Sadly the Lamorna Wink isn't yet open though we hope it will be very soon, so yes paying for a taxi to Mousehole wasn't a great option. However the good news, too late for you is that all the eating places in Mousehole are now open. Best wishes, Nick

For the past thirty years, we have spent most of our holidays in cottages in Cornwall which have always been beautiful accommodation. But Castallack Farm surpasses any of our past experiences in every way. Inside, Tremerth Cottage was much bigger than the website photos imply, and so homely with beautiful furnishings throughout and kitted out with all you could possibly want. The peace and tranquility was absolute, only interrupted with birdsong and the occasional sound of a farm animal. Relaxation and eating outside was made possible by table and seat beneath a secluded pretty Clematis covered pergola or in the sanctuary of the new wildflower meadow with picnic bench. The cottages are surrounded with beautiful shrubs and adorned with perfectly kept flower filled window boxes. With picturesque harbours and coves only a ten minute drive away, you really do feel you’ve found a small piece of heaven for a short while. If you feel I have described a picture of perfection then I have succeeded in describing this wonderful place just as it is truly is.

We came with our two dogs for a well needed break in February 2017 to visit family. The cottage is beautiful, has a lovely private garden and is perfectly located for the southwest coast. Unfortunately the week started off cold by cornish standards and we found the cottage a bit too cold at night. There was no access to the central heating timer or thermometer and the main bedroom radiator barely kicked out any heat (probably just needs the air bleeding from it).
I've used many log burners and found this one not particularly efficient at kicking out much heat, it was quite difficult to get it started/keep it going. The booklet said we could help ourselves to more kindling from the shared laundry room but there wasn't any when we looked so we had to go out to find some at a petrol station.
Our main issue however is to do with dogs. They say well behaved dogs are welcome on the website but only discovered when we got there that you can not leave them in the cottage on their own. We hadn't noticed this on the website as we saw that it said dogs are welcome and didn't investigate it any further. Maybe they could add this to the main cottage description? We went to the supermarket on our first evening and returned to find a bluntly written postcard stuck in the door asking us to read the T&Cs on the website. Our dogs do not destroy things and will settle quietly if not disturbed so i do not understand why this was necessary. If they were barking and annoying the owners or other guests nearby then I would have understood, but there was no mention of this. I can only guess that the owner knocked on the door whilst we were out and the dogs barked. We found the bluntness of his note quite rude. Do they expect us to take the dogs with us to a restaurant on valentine's day? Or leave them in the car for 2 hours? We had to take them with us to pick up a takeaway pizza in Penzance which I feel is a bit ridiculous. If it was spring/summer and we didn't have dogs it would have been perfect and I'm sure for some people it is but I'm afraid we won't be staying again if we have to be stuck to our dogs 24hrs a day.

Thank you for your very honest review. I think that it is unfortunate that you were unaware of our policy regarding dogs. We do welcome dogs, we have our own after all, but due to some careless owners we decided ages ago that dogs could not be keft on their own in the cottages due to quite extensive damage. Our T&C’s make it quite clear and this is repeated in our confirmation email that dogs must not be left on their own.The dogs in question were barking without any intervention from us and other people stay with us, so not fair on them either Regarding the heating if you had asked we would have turned it on willingly and would have supplied extra wood and kindling as well. But as we didn’t know......... Best wishes Nick and Rachel

After a week staying at different places in Cornwall, we wished we had stayed here all week ! A lovely location, great rooms, superb hosts and the best breakfasts we had all week. Well located for hikers or for couples like ourselves that enjoy a short walk through the countryside to the local pub for dinner. A couple of nights was not enough to really enjoy the area.

The first reviews for Castallack are taken from their own brochure, so are to anyone else totally irrelevant.
Inside the farmhouse is ok, rather dark and lights are on permanently.
Cottages are a different matter, after stating 'a well behaved dog welcome' these cottages absolutely smell worse than our local dog kennels, and as for 1 well behaved dog welcome, well that is a joke - guest book signed by previous guests and their numerous dogs, show that at least two dogs and a couple of entries show FOUR DOGS. No wonder we could not get rid of the smell. Being April it was not warm enough to leave the door and windows open all day, consequently the smell hung around for the whole holiday.
Good job there was a dishwasher, had to wash everything that we knew we would have to use for cooking.
Being of Cornish granite there is always a dampish chill in the air in these places, but here the walls were more than just damp they were moist, and chairs and sofa positively wet.
Most of the places we visit place a lovely vase of seasonal flowers in the property, not here just a milk jug of dead field flowers and grasses.
Top price rent Property, in brochure sounds wonderful, reality - overpriced Gorbals like dump. Yuck

Castallack is a tranquil & truly beautiful place. We have stayed in both cottages & the B&B & it really is home from home. The owners are very friendly & relaxed & encourage you to treat this place like it is your home. Great location for amenities close by such as Lamorna Cove (walking distance) & picturesque walks & coastal walks. Close to Mousehole, Penzance, & Paul (all by car) & many other attractions. Delicious homemade lemon drizzle cake upon arrival 😋 & the B&B breakfast is out of this world. We are there again in October making this our 4th stay on 2yrs. Highly recommended

We had a short stay at Tremerth again (mid February 2018). The cottage was warm and cosy. Nick and Rachel were welcoming as always and Rachel's lemon drizzle cake is still the greatest! We could only stay for four nights on this occasion, but hope to return soon. There were a lot of flowers out and it is early spring in this part of Cornwall (quite a change from the winter still in the midlands!). We saw scented Narcissus, daffodils, gorse, celandine, and camellias all out in flower. It is lovely to have a quick visit into spring to remind us of what is coming here soon!
