Things got better and the place then improved in our experience. I think it may be difficult to please all guests.Best to go and then go back knowing what you will get. The food is good but desserts I felt were lacking, the cheese course was bare for someone who doesn't do lactose. Fruit salad consisted of a paired apple...a...

Have been here before but visited again as was in the area and it didn't disappoint. Great food (the duck for the main was delicious), great service, great beer. Couldn't fault it at all, can eat in the bar area if you have dogs which we did and the atmosphere was lovely. A favourite now whenever we're in Cornwall.

We stopped here for dinner after working in Penzance. The setting is running, the welcome friendly. The food is of high quality with great attention paid to detail. Absolutely worth the detour to eat here.

long, slow lunch here one a very wet day. I personally was very happy with the ray wing followed by pannacotta with unusual trimmings including sorrel and furze blossom! and good value at £18. Others of the party found the portions too small, and the service was less than professional, mixing up orders and very slow.

Very enjoyable evening at Gurnards. Tasty turbot main with chunky chips side and a delicious bottle of wine. I wasn't sure when I saw the bright yellow exterior- but don't judge a book by it's cover. Staff were friendly when we caught their attention.

We were staying in nearby Carbis Bay and decided to take the trip to The Gurnards Head and we weren't disappointed. After a beautiful drive across we were welcomed into the dining room. Had an excellent meal with our main being beef which was perfectly cooked. Large array of beers and wine. Service was very good too.

The Gurnard's Head is a great place to have a walk out on the stunning coastline. There is a nice walk of around 2 miles around the headland. There are many interesting flowers and we saw a couple of grey seals and some sea birds from the cliffs (gannets and fulmars). The pub is lovely and the food is excellent....

Ate dinner from the set menu on Friday evening end of April. The mackerel and rhubarb starter was most delicious. Made me realise I've been overcooking mackerel all this time! My veggie main was good, partner's fish excellent. We felt the desserts let it down slightly, hence only 4 stars.

We were staying with friends across St. Ives Bay and they took us to lunch her. The menu is very interesting and creative. For the starter course our friends had the Crab mac & basil gratin; my wife had the fish cake and I had the mackerel with rhubarb. For the main course our friends had Corn fed chicken breast,...

This has to be one of the best meals I have had in a very long time, excellent does not go half way to describing it. The best thing to do is to go yourself. Food excellent, staff lovely & very knowledgeable which is something you don't always get.
