Arrived without a booking The staff accommodated us and we enjoyed an excellent Sunday lunch. Two of our party just wanted a starter and a side whilst my son and I had the roast beef. Very good quality. Great service. Certainly recommend

Been lucky enough to eat here several times and visited again for a lovely birthday meal with my Mum. She uses a walker and has limited mobility-staff were exceptionally helpful and welcoming so wanted to thank them for that. Damson sorbet was also outstanding! We'll be back.

Really beautiful surroundings and pub but very over priced. £15 for a roast beef which included 2 roast potatoes, 2 carrots, a teaspoon of cabbage and two florets of cauliflower cheese to share! Not what I wanted after a weekend of walking and on an Easter Sunday!

Excellent food at a lovely restaurant hidden away in a quiet corner of Lakeland. I must mention the "Stornaway" Black Pudding starter which was a fabulous beginning for our meal however I thing all the food is excellent. The service is also outstanding. All in all a fantastic experience.

We found this little gem which was a Michelin recommended restaurant. I had the pan-fried halibut whereas my partner had the roasted fowl. The cooking was great and the presentation superb. The pan-fried halibut was very fresh and the skin fried perfectly.. the fowl was surprisingly tender and a with a very crispy skin. The truffle really enhanced the taste...

Good food it was very fancy on the evening menu and some simpler options would have been nice but couldn't fault what we had. Great location and very friendly welcome and service. Would go back again and certainly recommend it

A must when visiting The Lakes! I asked my family to help me write this (husband and teenagers) and the overall consensus was DELICIOUS! Sublime soufflés (both starter and dessert) blissful black pudding starter, gorgeous guinea fowl terrine and the venison was to die for! Fab service, relaxed yet elegant atmosphere.

We called up at 8pm on a Thursday night asking for availability that night but with the option to check in at approx. 3am as we had to drive up from London. We were in luck - they were so accommodating and phoned back to ask if we would like sandwiches waiting for us! That's service! The lady on the...

We were taken for lunch, and it was superb. Twice baked chees soufflé to die for! Sirloin steak cooked to a turn. Our second visit, and just as good as the first one! I cannot recommend this pub highly enough. The service was quite outstanding, and the ambience was quite perfect.

We visited the Punchbowl for a family reunion recently. Group of 12 adults, with a toddler and a small baby. Having originally booked for 18:00, we asked in advance if we could move the booking back an hour to fit in with a potential babysitter and give the young parents a night off. Regrettably not possible, instead we were requested...
