We spent five nights in late January at the Bahia de la Luna on La Boquilla bay on a little road halfway between Pochutla and Puerto Angel. It had been in our sights for years when it was a yoga retreat. When that went under, some years ago, rather than see it grandiosely devloped, a couple who’d built a nearby...

Secluded, Beautiful, Peaceful, Relaxing, Amazing!! From the moment we arrived until the day we left everyone of the staff here were friendly and helpful. Our Cabana "Casa Ivan" was Gorgeous..fortunately during February it was a little dryer and we had zero issues with bugs and mosquitoes.. We snorkeled, kayaked and did some stand up paddle boarding..... Dining on the beach,...

We were looking for peace and quiet after a week in Puerto Escondido with two daughters and very energetic grandsons and Bahia delivered. Playa La Boquilla is a sheltered bay with sand piled high above the waterline - a perfect spot for all the shaded lougers laid conveniently along it, close to all amenities. For the more vigorous, an assortment...

We chose Bahia de la Luna on the basis that it was so far away from the hustle & bustle. I enjoyed the taxi ride down the dirt road, having only every done that type of trip in a 4wheel drive. My first though, on arrival was regret for taking a suitcase rather than a backpack. I'll know for next...

Just came from 5 amazing days at this secluded location. The water is pristine, the service is great and you can rest and relax without cell phone service, just wifi. The rooms are located across the mountains and you can get a tour as well from early morning to see whales dolphins and other animals in the area.

This was my first real beach vacation and it was everything I expected and more. The staff were very friendly and hospitable. Only a few speak English so learn some basic Spanish to get your needs met. The cabana was very simple and rustic but that met my needs perfectly. I like my accommodations to be a little different. There...

Thanks for your visit to Bahia de la Luna. Yes, the hilltop cabanas are a steep walk, but they come at a very friendly price... up to 50% off our regular rates while still including our great continental breakfasts, kayak and snorkeling sets. Our mosquito nets suffer a lot of abuse and we're constantly working to upgrade them. I'm sorry...

My wife and I stayed 10-days over the Christmas and New Year's holiday and had one of the best vacations ever. It was so amazing! We were on the beach every morning by 6.30 am to watch the sunrise and went back to our room at sunset - Both the restaurant and staff are incredible - they waited on us...

Thank's so much for your congratulatory review. We were especially pleased that we were able to meet your dietary needs even during our busiest holiday season. Our staff of Laila/Katryn in the office and Coco/Guadalupe in the kitchen always strive to provide attentive service, and its great to hear they succeed!

My wife and I went to Bahia de Luna for our honeymoon. It was nothing less than magical. The view, food, staff, and overall experience were all outstanding. We hope to make a return trip soon. It is a bit off the beaten path so you need to have somewhat of an adventurous spirit to make the trip, but it...

We're glad enough "adventurous spirit" to visit our little cabana hotel. Being "off-the-beaten-path"has it's advantages as you discovered and we're pleased that you share our appreciation for it's being secluded. Gracias! Jorge

We love this place. This is one of the only places on the coast where the my 8 year olds can swim without dangerous currents. The staff is lovely and the chef Coco is amazing. After many visits, we keep returning.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nestled among the rugged cliffs and dense tropical vegetation of Oaxaca’s Pacific coast is La Boquilla, a protected cove of white sand and still turquoise water. Virtually untouched by development, this pristine and secluded location – where osprey circle lazily over a silent beach – is the perfect setting for vacationers seeking a truly unique retreat experience.Protected by small islets and tall headlands the crescent beach provides a perfect setting for those vacationers seeking a truly unique retreat, for those who would rather hear the whisper of a gentle fan than the whirr of the air conditioner; for those who prefer snorkel and a sea kayak to the roar of a jet ski; for those who wish to practise yoga and sunrise meditation in an eco-sensitive environment and yet appreciate the best of fresh, natural, local foods & international wines in an exquisite water side setting, this may be the place you have always sought... ... more   less
