We had wanted to explore Shrewsbury and the local area. We found the Inn and I emailed about availability and late check in and got a quick response. A phone call later a weekend was booked. Just outside Shrewbury you find the gem that is The Inn at Grinshill. Satnav got us their and a warm welcome awaited. Though we...

Having visited the Inn at Grinshill 2 or 3 times for enjoyable lunches and dinners, when my wife and I decided to get married locally I instantly thought of this place for me and my groomsmen to stay for the wedding weekend. Enquiring and booking was fairly straightforward via emails and phone, and we booked out all rooms for the...

Sadly, the website it a little more up-to-date although the Sawdays tag does not exist, nor does a search. We will not be returning and our only advice for the curious is not to arrive on a Wednesday. You will have little choice in menu or drink and the normal chef may not be there. We were chastised for using...

We enjoyed our overnight stay at this rural inn. Our room was really comfortable and clean and the bathroom was modern and well appointed - loads of towels. The food in the restaurant was really delicious; we recommend the oven baked cheese and the steak was also very, very good. Breakfast was also excellent, though food did not appear quickly,...

Having had good meals here in the past. We chose the restaurant as the venue for my mother’s 90th birthday lunch. The meal for 63 guests was excellent. Victoria and Kevin were very helpful in selecting the menu and wines. They were extremely accommodating on the day. The service was very good and never obstrusive

On arrival we felt very unwelcomed.. staff seemed to be away with the fairies and we felt as if with we were a bother to them.. they were also very unattentive at times. Took ages for our food to come out. Food was great though ☺ nice surroundings also. But unfortunately wont be back in a hurry..

What a fantastic Inn! It's in a peaceful and picturesque village 6 miles north of Shrewsbury and owned by a charming couple. We were made to feel most welcome. The Inn is full of character and the food is superb. While sitting in the bar enjoying a drink a family walked in with two alsations and a pet sheep, all...

Breakfast cooked to order - worth waiting for. Fruit salad, orange juice and coffee - all freshly prepared - beautiful. Evening meals - excellent. Could only managed two courses - check out the website menu - the dishes are as good as they sound! I need to revisit to try out the sweets. Very quiet room - super king-sized bed....

We were taken here by friends for late sunday lunch, the food was good, but a significant number of wines were out of stock, which was a shame. The Inn is situated in a beautiful location, with good walks in the area (we asked to leave our car)

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Formerly a coaching Inn, our establishment today is an eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary décor. Its transformation began in 2001 when we bought it and over 18 months we set about a dramatic rebuild and restoration. Although many thought us foolhardy and overly ambitious, today, even much changed, the Inn evokes a sense of its own history. Above all else, we and our team work to ensure our guests enjoy the very best in hospitality. The Inn is a Grade 2 listed Georgian property, in a conservation area, located in the lee of Grinshill which is a site of special scientific interest and an area of outstanding natural beauty. There is a little train station in the next village which is a short stroll away, adding to the charm of this rural retreat. ... more   less
