Stunning location! Clean, modern, welcoming, warm. Friendly staff.
Wholesome and hearty food! The seafood chowder (soup) portion was huge and had a lovely silky taste with LOADS of lobster, scallops, haddock, and shrimp.
The Lobster Mac N'Cheese was creamy and plentiful, ooey gooey good.
The homemade chicken wings were juicy, well seasoned, breaded to perfection.
Watching the boats play on the water outside the expansive dining room windows, and the sunset = recipe for a perfect evening out.

The lodge is ideal for a night while driving through the area, offering a nice rest and beautiful views! Our room felt a bit cramped (compared to similar priced venues throughout our trip), but served the purpose just fine. The restaurant could be improved, e.g. no canadian red wines on the menu, or a bit extended dinner times, given there is not much around in the vicinity. However, staff was friendly and we felt very welcome.

Wonderful lodge, great hosts! Very comfortable accommodations, comfy beds, incredible hospitality. Everyone was warm and welcoming, great service. The breakfasts were tasty, good choices each morning, fresh baked bread. A porch over looking Lobster Bay, beautiful sunsets.

Ye Olde Argyler is in a beautiful scenic spot on Lobster Bay. WE sat out front to see the sunset and drink a glass of wine. However, that was the highlight. We stayed in a room that didn't face the sea, which is fair as there are only a few that do, and only had a small window. Room comfortable but dark and small.Staff attentive. Breakfast a bit pricey ($18 CAD) but you are pretty isolated here and would have had to drive awhile to get to an alternative. If you're not spending time in your room, this is a nice place to stay due to the view and grounds.

Hi Bill, Thank you for your review. Breakfast includes tea/coffee and juice, which makes the meal itself $13-$14 when factoring beverages. The breakfast is also quite substantial, with farm fresh eggs, house made bread, home cut potatoes, bacon, and fruit. We are an oceanfront inn and we feel the price and quality of breakfast reflects that. We appreciate you staying with us and taking the time to provide feedback. Take care, Elana

We stayed in the sea shanty cottage. We loved the view. The cottage is rustic and as it faces the waterfront, we thought it lacked privacy. Anyone can and does walk past the front of the cottage. It was large enough but we felt it was a bit too cluttered with furniture. We thought the place was a bit tired and we had read so many good reviews about the food, felt somewhat underwhelmed. We thought the dining was not up to the expectations built up by previous reviews. The air conditioning is very loud. We did not think this was as luxurious as we thought it would be.

Hello - thanks for the review. I'm not sure what furniture we could've removed to make it less "cluttered". There is a small couch and a small table with two chairs, which most people like having in the unit. We do however appreciate the feedback. All the best, Elana

We spent a night here on our tour around the province. We stayed in the Captains room which has beautiful views, a really comfy bed, and a full bathroom. The entire premises were exceptionally clean and the service from all staff was very friendly. We ate dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the lodge as a serene and tranquil getaway.

Beautiful location on Lobster Bay. We enjoyed the quiet, sea views and comfortable room. Dinner and breakfasts were delicious, and nicely presented by friendly staff. Great place to stay if you are visiting the Acadian Village in Lower Pubnico.

My wife and I spent one night here in early October 2015. The building is very nice and the setting is beautiful. However, be sure to go on a warm, sunny weekend and not when the weather may be cold or rainy as there is nothing much to do. You are a good 30 minutes from Yarmouth which has much to offer. This lodge does not have a common room, living room or any place to spend time relaxing or socializing with friends or other guests - aside from your own bedroom. Our room was one of the smaller available and was located over the kitchen - so don't expect to sleep in as the kitchen staff arrived bright and early and we could hear them below us preparing breakfast. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was outstanding. We have visited many other bed and breakfasts throughout Nova Scotia and probably won't consider this one again...more due to our own tastes. I think this lodge would be great for a summer overnight when you could sit outside on the deck, watch the sunset and enjoy a nice bonfire by the water.

We stayed at the lodge for several nights. The positives were the room was clean and the bed comfortable. One of the reasons we chose the lodge was the wrap around porch with the water view. Unfortunately, they had the largest, fiercest mosquitos we have ever seen. You couldn't stay outside for more than a minute or they would eat you alive. So we were stuck in our room, which only had one comfortable chair to sit on and one of us had to sit on the bed. There is no common area for guests to sit in. There is a restaurant on the first floor of the lodge, which was another selling point for us when we booked our stay. We were disappointed to find that the breakfast was just okay and a bit on the sparse side. They apparently only have two breakfasts as day 3 of our stay brought the first day's breakfast out again. You are also stuck in the middle of nowhere, so to go do anything, it's a bit of a drive in any direction. One night of our stay, I went to bed with a terrible headache, only to have a load of wood delivered right under our room's window. I think this would something that should have been done during the day when most guests are out.

Hi Judy and Michael, September is my favorite month here! The weather is beautiful, leaves are slowly starting to change, and you shouldn't have any reservation issues, especially if you book so far in advance. Feel free to call me at the lodge if I can be of any further help. Take care, Elana
