We recently joined the Historic Houses Association and while we were on holiday in the area noticed a tour of this lovely house. Booking not needed. We went along and joined a small group of about 14 who were met by the charming owner. She gave us a very warm welcome and I can't understand the comments made by a...

This is the first time we have been although the we only live a couple of miles away. It had rained all day but the evening was dry so didn't affect the evening. If you only do one Firework Festival, this is the one. We have experienced the French displays on Bastille night and thought they were exceptional, but this...

Owner was exceedingly rude. Will not return. After being spoken to in such a vile manner I did not wish to see anything further and left! Website was unclear. NO signage. Personally the house did not live up to my standards and was certainly not worth the hostility from the owner. They need a serious rethink.

Arrived at the poorly signed property at 1.45 for 2pm tour. Thought we would have a walk around the garden, no signs to say private. Was told by lady hanging out a window that it was private and that we were to go and sit in our car and wait there until 2pm. Having been told off we did return...

A really excellent visit to the Hall for a small group of 16 followed by afternoon tea. Starting with an introductory talk by Mrs Nielson in the dining room giving an outline of the history of the building and the family - illustrated in part by portraits on the walls. This was followed by a guided tour of the ground...

Attended Grill Acadamy ( Weber ) BBQ course by Seasoned at Catton Hall. Very informative course and myself and partner learnt a lot. Not just about BBQ but in food prep in general The chef was very knowledgable as were the general staff who made you feel at ease from the minute you walked through the door Worked mainly on...

This was my first visit to the Cider and Sausage Festival. Security for the campers seemed emphatic, with a curious search of belongings to see how much alcohol was being brought in - presumably to promote on site sales. On site sales of cider in two large tents was good and well managed - there were some local real ales...

My first time at this event, very well managed indeed, the security was second to none, acted correctly in every aspect and very friendly. The "Dreaded" portaloos were cleaned out daily, washed and didn't smell at all, FREE showers was a bonus for sure, in side the festival the cleaners did an Excellent job of clearing the rubbish up all day, sausage stalls in my...

The grounds are used annually for Bloodstock Open Air Festival (an extreme metal festival) which I attended with friends. The music is not to my taste, but the location and grounds were excellent. It's a rather strange thing to drive past the beautiful house knowing that 15,000 metal-loving maniacs will be doing god-knows-what in the fields a short walk away....

Catton Hall really is a gem and home to a truly lovely couple. Beautifully kept and absolutely splendid for any private function. The grounds are enormous and flat for easy erection of show collateral. All of the bedrooms are sumptuous and tastefully decorated with en suites befitting of the Hall. Wonderful atmosphere, very calm and the scent of fresh polish...
