Stayed from Jan. 7 - 11 with four friends for a writing retreat, since the Banff Centre has not reopened for self directed retreats. Rooms were clean and comfortable, staff was very helpful. Yes, the decorating is dated ( who cares?), and yes, the trains are loud. Any hotel in the Banff townsite will have train noise, it's unavoidable. The five of us were very happy with the time we spent at the Bow View Lodge. The price can't be beat, you are right on the Bow River path, and you're a short walk from the restaurants, shops and museums in the townsite. Will be back!
We stayed here for 2 nights while on a trip through the Rockies. The hotel was basic but clean and comfortable. Access to a good pool at a sister hotel was really welcomed. Location was good for walking into town.
Some of the reviews are pretty hard on this property. The hotel is basic. If you want a luxury hotel, then look elsewhere. The website is clear that there is no restaurant, pool, exercise room or other amenities on site. You can get access to Banff Park Lodge, which is just across the road, for restaurants, etc. We stayed in 2 pet friendly rooms. If you have a dog, this location is great. It is right next to the river pathway and a lot of green areas. All the pet friendly rooms are on the first floor so getting out of the building is easy. On the other hand, the first floor rooms do not have a balcony or patio. The pet friendly rooms are all the same. Two double beds, a small table with two chairs, a chest of drawers with a tv, a small cabinet with a mini fridge, a nightstand and two small chests/benches. Not a lot of space but for the price, it is very good value. We had no problems with wi-fi and the rooms were clean. The hotel in general is dated but functional if you are looking for somewhere comfortable to sleep in a good location. The area is quiet but only a short walk to Banff Avenue. The staff members were efficient and helpful when we had questions.…
After four calls to the office, the manager asked us to visit the neighboring hotel to access WiFi. We were told that we would be offered two cocktails for our inconvenience. Upon arriving at the neighboring hotel (co-owned by Bow View Lodge) we were denied cocktails and only offered beer or virgin cocktails. Since we needed a decent WiFi connection to do our work, this was unacceptable. Additionally: Nearly $300/night No a/c (and could not keep screen open because of adjoining common balcony) Broken thermostat Parking lot view No safe Tiny, dated, unclean room Few electrical outlets Only one elevator
I stayed with my family at Bow View in early September. The hotel is extremely run down and unclean. The beds are tiny, the rooms are old and most of the facility smells old and musty. We were offered a $5 voucher to not have our room serviced- appreciate there are staff shortages with COVID but the rooms were barley clean to begin with. The only good thing about this hotel is the location.
Light in the darkness: The hotel is very well located for our needs, but the concept of hospitality is very far from reality, with 850 Cad dollars we stayed in a 5-star hotel in Punta Cana with everything included and without missing anything in the room, which is the opposite of this hotel, thank God that we found two extraordinary people and who really do know about service and attention to the guest; As Angel was at the reception and Víctor from Room Service, always attentive and with a good aptitude, what a pity that the management is not the same as them; in short, I hope they improve and learn from Angel and Víctor, thank you guys in good time.
Reservations and check in were fast and efficient. Poliet happy staff. The hotel has the feel of old and tried. That said our 3 rooms were clean and well supplied. The beds were comfortable and had a variety of pillows. The west wall was window and sliding door facing the river and walking trail. The balcony chairs were plastic but comfortable. 2 factors for concern the step outside to the balcony was tall and wider than usual with the floor on either side at different levels. Second each electrical outlet had a surge protector extension with additional extension cords for the coffee pot, frig etc, seems fire hazard. NO air conditioning but fans in room and screen on sliding door
Well what can I say, a very out dated hotel needs a total revamp. Our tour group where not able to check in until after 3pm. Had a room on the second floor, opened the door twin beds when booking with our tour company in Australia (My Cruises a part of the Ignite Travel Group) we made it very plan that we are a gay married couple and expected to get one bed not twin, this did not happen. I went to use the wash basin to wash my hands after travelling and seeing sites on our way from Calgary the faucet handle came off in my hand. Contacted management and it was changed to a new one we where happy with that. Sure the hotel is in a great location, easy walking down to the town centre, however the owner's should start to modernise this hotel.
We stayed there two nights July 1-3 and got bed bugs !!!! Dirty room. Great location. Gross gross gross. For the huge amount of money charged for rooms here the owner can certainly afford to upgrade and clean. It is a gross place. Floor was dirty, old hair on our bed sheets. Broken elevator. We had paid with ALOT of points and then the hotel charged our credit card anyway and I didn't know they did that until we got home eater on July 5 - the day they charged our card even though we checked out on the 3rd. Shifty, inhospitable. no coffee maker. Rooms have no privacy or safety as the entire balcony is open to all the other rooms, Just one long balcony and anyone can walk up and down it all night. Had a party next door one night and we should have just joined the party as it was happening next to our heads practically.…
We stayed 5 nights in May. We had a 2nd floor river view room, Rooms are basic and a bit small. No air conditioning so we like everyone else had to leave the balcony door open for cool air. Room did have a fan though. Very quiet hotel it was full when we were there and we basically heard no one. Parking is small in numbers but we had a space every night. Staff on the desk were nice. View of the river was very peaceful and the elk that come to feed at night were great to watch for us tourists. Good location to town only a 5 minute walk. 2 gas stations close by as well. We’d stay again and recommend to families or budget conscious travelers.
