We made a last minute decision to book Tekarra Lodge and we were glad we did. The Lodge accommodation is cosy with a small kitchenette. Everything is clean and in working order. When we booked we hadn't realized how good the Tekarra Restaurant was. The restaurant serves amazing local food, much of it prepared on-site including delicious smoked trout. Breakfast...

We have been to Tekarra before. It is comfy, cozy, clean and pleasant. It is pet friendly. The staff is friendly, helpful and cheerful. The cabin we had was small, but not lacking for any amenities. Our after dinner stroll took us on a trail overlooking a beautiful river view. Tekarra is very close to Jasper townsite. We went to...

The lodge more than satisfied our expectations. The location was ideal, at the confluence of two rivers gave the location a special feel. Though our stay was short, we would certainly return to experience the location activities and Jasper itself. There was an issue with the hot water but this seemed to be a specific issue with the lodge we...

A group of very nice and well appointed cabins, about 2km from the centre of Jasper. Cabins were warm and appointed with fire lighting equipment and basic cooking equipment. There is also the option to get bbq packs and drinks delivered to your room which is very cool. Didn't get a chance to join in the activities but there seems...

The location is hard to beat set in woods on the edge of town with a view over the confluence of 2 rivers and mountains. The cabins and lodge look good but ours was very small and a duplex with poor sound insulation and inadequate hot water. You heard the neighbour showering in the morning and you were too late...

We loved our stay at Tekarra Lodge. The totem poles on the property were very cool. The lodge and cottages were very funky and charming. Loved the fireside chats and smores. Lovely view of the Athabaska river from the property with comfy muskoka chairs to sit in!

Very nice lodge. WE didn't have one of the cabins so we don't know about those, but the lodge rooms were clean and the bed was fine and we just needed a place to sleep one night while we did activities in and around Jasper.

We stayed here 21 years ago. The cabins are just as cozy as we remember. Staff is wonderful and they are pet friendly. We built a fire both nights and it was wonderful. The lodge is very close to town.

We appreciate the fact that this location allows pets. Our dog is part of our family and this made for a great weekend family getaway. The room are rustic and simple but still offered all amenities. Quick access to walking trails makes it easy for dog walks!!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nestled deep in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, Tekarra Lodge enjoys an enviable location within Jasper National Park, the largest of the national mountain parks in Canada, 4200 square miles in area. Jasper became a National Park in 1907 and the town site's first buildings were constructed in 1911, then Jasper was known as the town of Fitzhugh. Tekarra Lodge is located across the river from the base of its namesake, Tekarra Mountain. Tekarra Mountain, towering 2635 meters above us is named for the Iroquois guide and hunter who accompanied Sir James Hector on his expedition through the Rocky Mountains during the mid-1850s. The skill and devotion of the guide Tekarra saved the lives of the members of that expedition. He sustained and fed them during the grim and bitter winter with caribou that he hunted on the mountain. It was because of this devotion that Sir James named the mountain Tekarra. The lodge grounds form the banks of the confluence of the Athabasca and Miette rivers. This land is maintained in its natural state, and offers a wonderful study for nature lovers. Tekarra's marked nature walk, and the Indian totem poles give pleasure to all ages. The area and history in and around the property is a fascinating one. One of the first settlements of Jasper called Henry House may have been located adjacent to the lodge on the south side of the river. Even today, there is still indication of an old homestead and some outbuildings. Tekarra Lodge was built circa 1947 and initially consisted of only a few cabins, some of which are standing today. ... more   less
