The ranch was cosy and it was enjoyable to sit with other guests in the evening. The breakfast was varied and very tasty. The rooms were a little dated but comfortable. The ranch is very remote- it's still a beautiful area however it was an hour drive to jasper town and longer to other areas so this did make days... More

The location of the ranch is beautiful. It is about 15km from the main highway, so it is very peaceful and quiet. Unlike a couple of other reviews, I actually thought the ranch was well signed from the main highway and also can be found on the gps if needed. The main ranch, which contains the lounge area, is beautiful... More

I'll admit, driving to Black Cat at night is a scary drive, as turns and hills make for a confusing trip. Don't bother with the GPS, because they aren't available as a destination. The Lodge is a good size, and our room was quaint. It shows its age, but that is not a bad thing in this case. In the... More

We stayed at the Black Cat guest ranch expecting a quiet retreat in a rustic atmosphere. That it was very quiet but very outdated with very little to do. The fireplace was hard to get going as there was no dry cut up wood and nobody around the area.the outside decks need talc as very worn plywood used and the... More

Great views from this old guest ranch, which dates back to 1935. Nice large common lounge area for evenings and breakfasts. Very good (free) breakfast with eggs, potatoes, baking powder biscuits, fruit, coffee and juices. Service was friendly. The rooms are a little dated and simple, so focus on the scenery. Free internet works from the common lounge and some... More

Once again, a lovely, relaxing weekend of watercolour with like-minded souls. So much good food we couldn't even eat it all, and a comfy bed to curl up in. Doesn't get much better than that. We also met people from other countries who were working at the ranch or coming in to visit. I have been staying at the ranch... More

This property is not the advertised minuets from Jasper town but the advertised minuets from the park gate. Around an hours drive from Jasper. Misleading. It is in a beautiful secluded spot and wonderful for a quiet get away. Being an old building it is hollow and sound travels. The rooms are comfortable. The appearance on entry is old, tired... More

We were extremely disappointed in what we visualized and what was reality. After an hour and half drive from Jasper we arrived at the ranch which we felt was run down. The guest room was no better although the bed was clean and so was the bathroom. There was only the bed to sit on and one kitchen chair. There... More

The Black Cat was everything that it advertised.....I just failed to realize how dated and rustic the ranch is when booking. Upon our arrival ( hubby and myself) we found a note at the front desk addressed to us with keys. It was very unsettling to think we were the only people in this very large facility and no one... “You have to walk out of room onto a balcony, which is outside & not clean, to walk to the lounge area for your coffee, also there are no facilities in your room to keep drinks cool. Our room had two beds, but the bedding was in need of updating, the windows need repairing & curtains need renewing, all ranch needs a facelift, very run down!”
