Upon checking into this hotel I was surprised to discover that it requires a $200 dollar deposit in order stay. This is on top of the price of the room which was already paid for on another booking website. Kind of an unpleasant surprise when traveling on a budget. Especially since it takes time for the funds to be released back into your account. If this is how the rest of the hotels do business..then Nanaimo has lost mine!!

Alan, Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at Days Inn by Wyndham Nanaimo. I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. Your feedback is very important to us, and I am saddened to hear that a Security Deposit so completely ruined your experience. Unfortunately, not every guest is as respectful of our property as I'm sure you were, and past experience has necessitated that a security deposit be collected from each of our guests. This is not an uncommon process and exists, on some level, in hotels all over the world. I, myself have experienced it in Las Vegas, Vancouver, Whistler, Luxembourg, and the city of Arras in France, just to name a few. Unfortunately, the time required for the funds to become available once released back to your Credit Card is beyond our control, but usually is only a few days. We appreciate the time you took to share your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the future. Thank you again, Rob Robert Green Operations Manager Days Inn Nanaimo

First room, no electricity in bedroom, second room sofa so stained afraid to sit on, front desk service minimal at best. No towels for pool have to collect from front desk. Very run down feels dirty. $200 hold on credit card above room charge ridiculous, way over priced for value.

Dear Sue, Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at Days Inn by Wyndham Nanaimo. I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. Your feedback is very important to us, and I am saddened to hear that we failed to meet your expectations. Unfortunately, due to the age of our building, some of our rooms seem to be short of available plug-ins. When the building was constructed there was a much lower demand for outlets, as things like microwaves, cable boxes, second televisions, and fridges were not standard amenities, and personal electronics were non existent. We are looking at options available to us to safely correct this issue. Please rest assured that we are taking the appropriate measures to address the problem and prevent any future occurrences. Here at Days Inn, we continuously strive to meet your needs and expectations. We appreciate the time you took to share your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the future. Sincerely, Rob Green Operations Manager Days Inn Nanaimo manager@daysinnnanaimo.com 250-754-8171 ext 301

Just returned from a simply awful experience at this "hotel". Reasonable location and a Ricky's diner in house are the only 2 highlights. The rest is sadly lacking and overall rates a poor assessment. Receptionists consistently dour and unhelpful. Rooms poky and shabby....extension cords trailed across the floor to power the bedside lights. Air conditioner was a box in the wall and you could see a gap to the outside. Residents were getting drunk and racing along the corridors. Staff did nothing. Ended up with a full blown fight and one of the party pulling the fire alarm at midnight. Staff did not know how to silence the alarm and the bells rang for 30.minutes before being silenced. When checking out the next day, Staff were totally uninterested in asking how our stay was or even apologizing for a horrible night. Would never recommend this place to a friend. Avoid!

Steves, Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at Days Inn by Wyndham Nanaimo. I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. Your feedback is very important to us, and I am saddened to hear that we failed to meet your expectations on so many levels. We are working our way through a repair and renovation plan to address many of the issues you mentioned. That night of the Fire Alarm was particularly tough for us. With so many people involved in the ruckus, and only one staff member on site, it took awhile to get things sorted out. As for the Fire Alarm, when a pull station is activated we are not permitted to silence the alarm until the building is thoroughly searched to ensure that there is no danger to the guests. Once that is certified, we can silence the bells until the Fire Department arrives to reset the alarm. It may reassure you to know that the persons involved in the fight and alarm pulling incidents were ejected from the hotel the following morning, and since they were staying for work, the incident was reported to their employer. I'm told that at least two of the people involved were let go by their employer. Thank you, Rob G. Manager

My family stayed in for a night before heading to Tofino. The room is spacious for 2 queen beds however, the toilet/bath is tight. They offer complimentary breakfast but don't look forward to it as they are just bagels, muffins, coffee and cereals. nothing interesting. besides the entry is very much controlled by the hotel crew. first time to see a low star hotel controlling a breakfast area for entry but nothing to offer anyway. They have a loud air conditioning unit that is very much torturing to your sleep.

Wasn’t impressed with room deposit, $200 not necessary at all. Only an over night visit, than it takes several days for the money to be returned. Plus the cost, it was expensive for one night rest. Place was clean service was good the restaurant was good.

The most expensive hotel I stayed out this summer (and I travelled all summer) and certainly not worth it. Clean but worn, and there was a certain "depressing" quality to it. It was quiet, but I didn't feel safe on the first floor with the parking lot just outside the window. I couldn't wait to leave, and I can't believe I spent so much money.

Loved it here and they are so helpful and friendly. Continental breakfast is quite good. The food at the restaurant in house is beyond good. We ate there most meals because of the quality and Friendly service.

Was not the 2 queen bed room I initially booked. Ended up with an old springy bed and a broken pullout with plywood under the cushion and ties holding it from being used, also extremely filthy in that pullout. The bathroom light or fan finish work were cracking away from the ceiling, grout and caulk was totally sub-par and unfinished. Nanaimo can be a beautiful place, this room was not.
