This is a dated depresssing establishment with some rooms so small that you climb over luggage to get around. Their 'limited' continental breakfast is a joke - and not even close to looking anything like the photo on the website. There is no protein other than yogurt, which in our case was five (5) days beyond the best before date. The recpetionist said they were limited by the health authorities to what they could serve - one can assume that this implies there is something unsanitary about the place. Given the options in the area, definetly give this place a pass.
Location was so perfect, parks, shopping mall and restaurants were so close to the hotel but the hotel room were not that clean, AC was not working, washroom sinks and tub was plugged. Extra blanket was ripped from many places. Breakfast area was very nice and clean.
Very old fashioned inside, even smelt old when you enter the room. The lift that goes straight to the 3rd floor is dangerous, it closed on me and has no sensor so you have to physically hold the door back. Breakfast is just fruit and muffins, so don’t expect much from a complimentary breakfast. We also paid 3 dollars extra for a sea view. Don’t get excited you can only see a slither of water through buildings! On a positive the staff were friendly.
Dark, dingy, dirty, still smells of old smoke. No bowls or boiling water for the instant oatmeal. Only mac apples for the fruit. Danish but no gluten free options. Would not recommend other than close proximity to ferry.
Best location for walking to all amenities. 5 minute to the harbour, 15 minute to downtown, 20 minutes to the old quarters. The price really reasonable, very clean. No need to rent a vehicle if you plan on staying around that area. We are totally satisfied🙂
Room was your average space. The two busy roads were noisy. Breakfast selection was limited to fruit, muffins and yogurt. Hotel served the purpose of our one night stay but it is limited amenities. Overall was average.
Best: The staff at check in was kind and helpful Worst: Breakfast room staff was rude, threatening and created a very toxic environment. I was in a great mood until she started talking and talking poorly of a couple that was in front of me. She clearly is not happy in her employment
Hotel doesn’t match what is pictured online. Looks dirtier and dated. Horrible first impression. Poor customer service during check in. Breakfast was extremely limited - upon arrival found out it was juice, muffins, apples and bananas. Area is convenient to be walking distance to harbour but doesn’t feel like the safest spot. We got the “deluxe” room and I would hate to see the standard if we had the deluxe. “Harbour view” was more parking lot and construction site.
The hotel needs paint everywhere - see photos. The room smelled. It is not in a great neighborhood. All the furniture in the rooms needed to be replaced. The front desk manager was unhelpful, unfriendly and almost hostile. I asked her for change for the vending machine ,and she grudgingly broke a $20. I put a $2 coin into the vending machine to buy a water. No water, machine refunds my $2 in quarters. I asked the manager if I could purchase a bottle of water. Her reply, "We drink tap water". Her attitude seemed to me to be, "If you are staying at a dump like this, then you are not worthy of good service". I asked her if there was a store nearby - she told me there was a 7-11. We didn't have a car, I asked her how far it was. "20 minutes". I went back to the room, looked it up on google, and google said it was 8 minutes. It took me 5 to walk there. For whatever reason, prices were very high - we paid almost $190 for a room here. Ripoff. The pros - the woman who tended to the breakfast was very friendly, and the hotel is walking distance to downtown Nanaimo. Better choices for sure. Stay elsewhere.…
This is one of the few Travelodges that have elevators. The room was spacious and clean. The shower curtains caused the bathroom floor to flood because the inner curtain was too short. I was impressed that the staff cleaned it up right away in the middle of the night. There is free breakfast but only eggs for protein. The location is great because you can walk to the Marina but many restaurants close early in the evening. We managed to find Trollers after having been given wrong directions.
