Just stayed here with some family friends who booked the room through a travel agent. Was expecting it to be halfway decent given the location and price, but was very disappointed. While the rooms were decently sized, they were clearly outdated and over heated. Yes, there is an air conditioning unit, but it was extremely loud and inefficient. View was...

Dear Marissa L: Thank you for your recent review. I was very disappointed to read that we appeared to miss meeting your expectations in multiple areas. I am very sorry for missing these expectations. We pride ourselves on our remarkable service and your comments surprise me. While the service issues you encountered are completely unacceptable, I do hope that you...

Flew into Vancouver from Sydney a very long day, our room was ready for us at 10.00am (a bonus). The staff were very helpful, and Randy the concierge went out of his way to help and send us in the right direction for sight seeing etc. The rooms were extremely comfortable, breakfast in the dining room was fine, the hostess...

I wish I would have been more prepared for what a great place this would be to stay for our active family. We had 2 rooms for our family of 5 with 3 kids ages 21,18 and 15. A one bedroom suite with a pullout couch and a regular room with two double beds. (We could have brought 3 more...

Would come back! They were very helpful with finding locations in the City. The only problem we had was our room was next to the elevator shaft which was nosey. We had a room change which worked great. I would recommend using this Hotel if you are traveling to Vancouver. All the good eating is just blocks away and there...

First off, the staff here are great. Really friendly and helpful and the best thing about this hotel. The hotel itself is in need of updating. The room was a good size, but needs redecorating to bring it back to life. There was a standalone A/C unit but we didn't use it much as it was so loud and only...

4 of of our family (originally the number was 5) stayed 1 night here. The 2 bedroom suite was very good and accommodated us just fine. Would be nice if the 2nd bedroom had a queen bed instead of a double, but it worked out. Very close to Stanley Park and good eating establishments, Robson Street, etc. The website was...

I have never received better customer service at any hotel, anywhere. Checking in, we had a misunderstanding about parking options and our room selection … so things got off to a rocky start. However, the staff at the Coast Plaza, particularly Jonathan Milne, worked his magic and got us the best suite in the house. The view of our bay...

We made reservations and the cost of Hotel Room was not cheap by any standards. No Central Air Conditioning, poorly decorated, really dated furniture and washrooms. Kitchen had old appliances, who has ice box this day and age! Really! No real comfort, the clothes chest drawers would not close with clothes in them, carpet looked like cat litter spread all...

This hotel is stuck in the 70s. It looks and smells like it hasn't been updated since then. The room was big but had a weird layout with a tiny bathroom and kitchen, complete with furniture, fixtures and appliances circa 1979. It was a hot summer day and the old A/C unit in the corner wasn't able to bring the...

I rang and asked for their best room, I checked through their website all looked OK. The room rate was very high but as it was the fourth of July I did not mind paying for a smart 4 to 5 star room as promised. I got a tired tatty old dated room, air con, wifi did not work, holes...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
