We discovered Bee and Thistle two years ago; it is hard to find enough superlatives to describe it. For starters, the breakfasts are simply the best and most beautiful on the planet, fresh fruit courses and luscious baked treats are followed by perfectly prepared and sauced eggs, all artistically garnished with color-coordinated fresh flowers just plucked from the garden. Each...

I can't say enough about this B&B! It is just perfection! It has been decorated beautifully. The breakfasts were delicious gourmet works of art!

We love great B and B's because we are always made a part of the city we are in by the hosts and the location and the Bee and Thistle was a perfect introduction to Vancouver. Convenient to everything good in the city, located in a neighborhood that felt homey, a truly lovely house. Flowers everywhere, even as garnishes for...

We stayed 4 nights with Lynn and Michael who are the perfect hosts, very friendly, helpful, totally accommodating and just very, very nice people. We were a group of 4 on a months tour of BC staying at B&Bs wherever possible; this was probably the best. For example, nowhere else had a laptop/internet available in every room. Their house has...

Lyn and Michael went out of their way to be so helpful to my family. We would reccommend the Bee and Thistle to anyone visiting Vacouver, rooms were imaculate, spacious and very well appointed with refrigerators, coffee and tea makers, fresh cookies each afternoon. Located in a convienient area of Vancouver with dozens of interesting restaurants a short walk away.

This has to be one of the best B&B we have stayed in. The B&B is located in a quite area yet only a short walk to a great choice for evening meals. Downtown bus (number 20) is only a very short distance from B&B. The B&B is spacious, clean and you can see the effort of the owners in...

When I think of the Bee & Thistle I think of WOW.....we were totally and utterly amazed at the beautiful and tasteful decoration and the attention to detail and friendly atmosphere. We booked Florences Room which was just gorgeous and overlooked a lovely garden at the rear of the property. It was spotlessly clean and and bathroom was fabulous with...

The Bee and Thistle is a real find and like visiting the home of old friends. Lynn and Michael are so warm and welcoming and couldn't do enough to make our stay in Vancouver absolutely perfect. Their lovely home is stylish and comfortable and we loved all the little 'extras' such as delicious homemade cookies every day, complimentary goodies in...

Beautifully fitted old house with perfect balance between preservation of the heritage style and every modern comfort. The best bed. The artistically presented breakfast tasted as delicious as it looked. Thank you Lynn and Michael. Five star hotels have nothing on this place. Charming.

Staying in Commercial Drive

Neighbourhood Profile
Commercial Drive
Commercial Drive, also called "The Drive," comprises of twelve sauntering blocks of modest and unfussy counter-culture. Straddling the line between sophisticated and unadorned, it is favoured by students, artists, writers, designers, and start-ups, and suffused throughout with a healthy off-beat counter-culture. The kind of neighbourhood which well-springs thought-revolutions and has the odd bit of self-aware graffiti, Commercial Drive has resisted gentrification in favor of continuing to build a thriving den of affordable multiculturalism. Once known as Vancouver's "Little Italy," it has also been the immigration point for Guatemalans, Hondurans, and Portuguese to the city. The resulting hodgepodge makes for poetry readings in espresso cafes, social debates in early-open bakeries, and eco-activism posters pinned up in the many multi-ethnic markets in the area. Commercial Drive is where you go to feel like a local, and if you have them, bring the kids – The Drive has a number of bookshops, toy stores, and attractions to get them involved too.
