The historic, charming Sylvia Hotel - situated on English Bay in Vancouver's West End - has great warmth and friendly service from the entire staff. Many of the staff have been there for years which is a testament to their sense of pride in the hotel. We have been guests since 1998 and have never been disappointed with our stay....

Sylvia Hotel is well located and it's quaint. Building is old but charming. Rooms are spacious but require updates and maintenance. Rates are very affordable in comparison to other hotels in Vancouver.

Thank-you for staying with us, the staff will appreciate your header. The location is often mentioned but I believe it is the staff service that keeps guests coming back again and again. Please book directly with the hotel when you are in Vancouver on you're next trip to get the best rates and room type as we do not put...

The Sylvia Hotel, Located across the street from English Bay Beach, is very close to a large variety of Dining and Shopping choices. The Property is quaint, very well operated and convenient, and also walking distance to Stanley Park. As one of Vancouver's oldest historical hotels, where many celebrities choose to stay, it is definitely boutique and feels like home,...

Thank-you for all your kind words and comments about your stay with us. We are a heritage site hotel (over 105 years old) and we do our best to stay true to our heritage and exceed every guests expectation on service. I was happy to read that you enjoyed the Lounge and restaurant. I know you enjoyed the view. I...

We stay at the Slyvia from the 28 of December 2016 through to the 3 of January 2017. If you are looking for "a modern looking" hotel to stay in then you may be turned off by the outward appearance of this hotel. It is not the "fancy, posh modern look" that we have grown accustomed to seeing now a...

Thank-you for your well written review. Yes we are a heritage site hotel but not all rooms are small, we have 18 different room types and sizes, so please call the hotel if you require a larger room. We have rooms with views, kitchen units, small large and everything in between. I appreciate your mention of how clean the hotel...

We booked the Sylvia Hotel for a women's family weekend......aunties, moms, nieces daughters. It was a wonderful time. We, the aunties/mom's, had the "hospitality" suite and it was a great space...large bedroom and living room and small kitchen/eating area. The hotel is"old school", .....you get one key, and turn it in at the front desk when you leave and the...

I was so happy to read how much you enjoyed your stay with us. The family rooms are larger and are great rooms to have friends and family join you. Yes we are a heritage site as still use the proper room keys instead of key cards. I truly hope that you will be able to join us again and...

I would come back here again! Amazing location, with facilities near by, great public transport near and Stanley Park less than a 5 minute walk away. The staff were fantastic and the rooms clean. The bar looking over English Bay is beautiful.

Whenever we come to Vancouver we always stay at the Sylvia Hotel. It is an old heritage hotel that offers clean, basic accommodation...nothing fancy, no luxuries, but then how much time do you plan to spend in your room and you can't beat their price! We have stayed in many of the Vancouver hotels that cost several times more than...

Wow, I really enjoyed reading your comments about the Sylvia Hotel and the surrounding area. The location is often mentioned for the reasons you referred to and also appreciate the fact that you mentioned how clean the hotel is. The views from the lounge and restaurant are great to watch the sun set over English Bay. Please do come back...

Always our first choice to stay in Vancouver. The location is great and love the historic charm of the place. Take the stairs and marvel at the relief in the marble stairs from the thousands of people who've traversed them over time. We love that they are dog friendly. Once our dog escaped our truck while we were checking out...

I am so happy that you were able to get your pet back, they are like family so we understand how important pets are. We spent 2 nights here, the location is perfect for the English Bay. We were in a large group and they let us all check in to our rooms early, the bed was super comfy and the room clean and adequate, wish we had had a fridge and a more modern shower. The bar and restaurant are very good and...

Thank-you for staying with us and offering your comments about the hotel and your experience. We are a heritage hotel (over 104 years old) so some areas of the hotel are similar as they have been for all those years (bathrooms). We spent 10 nights here in the first half of Dec. At a weekly special rate, the charge was less than CDN 140 per night including kitchenette, underground parking and taxes. Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
