We were part of a group of 6 couples who booked the Sylvia's New Years Eve package. This package was offered for $330 per couple and included 1 night stay (double occupancy - king bed), dinner and party on new year's eve and brunch on New Year's day. Also included was free internet, parking and a late checkout on Jan...

We stayed at this hotel while visiting relatives in downtown Vancouver over Christmas and loved how convenient it is to all the main attractions, downtown Vancouver and Stanley Park. We were happy to be able to check-in shortly after 1 pm too. Our very cozy and quiet room was one of the small queen rooms, just a little too cozy...

As other reviewers have said - excellent location close to a wide variety of activities and night life. Restaurants and shops all within walking distance. We live 20 miles outside of Vancouver and 4 of us stayed for 2 nights during the Christmas holidays to see the various Christmas light and tree displays and to celebrate a birthday. The 8...

This amazing hotel was built in 1912 and it overlooks English Bay and the famous Sea Wall of Stanley Park. You are right in the heart of downtown Vancouver, with so many wonderful choices of restaurants and unique stores. The rooms are charming, the service is impeccable and both the bar and dining room have ocean views. The food is...

We had a fabulous stay at the Sylvia Hotel recently and will definitely return. With English Bay, the seawall, Denman Street restaurants and shops at our doorstep, we were able to walk our dog, dine out and explore the West End with ease. The hotel staff were very friendly and professional. The hotel atmosphere is comfortable, cosy and very well...

Thank-you for your scores and rating and taking the time to write a review. We are pet friendly and one of the only hotels in the city that does not charge extra for pets. We had a wonderful stay at the Sylvia over the Christmas holidays, (for the second time). It's a charming hotel; very clean and quiet with friendly, helpful staff. The brunch is fantastic! This is definitely our "go to" hotel in Vancouver.

My daughter and I spent Christmas Eve at the Sylvia. We live locally in North Vancouver and thought it would be fun to spend the evening just doing something a little different. Title says it all. I don't want to say more, because, actually, I'd prefer if it stayed a bit of a secret. If you want a pretentious 5 star hotel, don't bother. If you want the cheapest place in town, ditto. But if you like intentionally understated elegance with walking access to the unparalleled natural amenities of Stanley Park, this...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
