I visited Vancouver to attend the Vancouver Opera. I traveled by Amtrak. The hotel was close enough for an enjoyable 20 minute walk from the train station. The opera was a block and a half from the hotel. Gastown was nearby, and many attractions from BC Place to shopping were minutes by foot. I had an interior room with shared... More

Excellent staff that were very helpful from tips on where to go, how to get there, and where is good to eat that is close by. The hotel lives up to its name and lives up to its victorian heritage, but still has modern ammenities.

I stayed one night here. What a gem of a hotel in expensive downtown Vancouver. I had a single room with a shared (immaculate) shower room. Excellent, friendly staff, clean rooms with wifi, cable, tea and coffee and comfy bed with clean good linen. The hotel is right downtown, 5 minutes from waterfront, station and all restaurants, coffee shops and... More

We arrived late, we were able to park in the hotel lot, check-in was smooth. Room was updated and very clean, bed was great! Walking distance to EVERYTHING! Took 10 minutes to get to the stadium. Staff was friendly; we will definitely stay again!

Gross smells -- deep in carpets, like a hot sheet hotel with some nice touches, really bad parking...nice staff and room small but fine. Never stay there again. In a different city it would be a $30 off the highway place.

Well that's an interesting olfactory reference Gayle. I can say it's not one I've ever experienced. Nonetheless, I'm sorry we were not up to snuff. More

Excellent personable service, helpful with any inquiries. The room was spacious, bed was very comfortable, nice view, quiet at night for sleeping. We chose the shared bathroom option and had a choice of 3 on our side of the floor, all modern, tastefully renovated, spotlessly clean and no problem with access. We loved the charm of the room, appreciated the preservation... More

Great location. Knowledgeable staff. Fantastic rooms. I stayed fo 8 nights and loved it. Staff was exceptionally friendly. Close to Gastown great area for dining. Had a double room with a nice sitting area. Much more comfortable then a generic Hotel.

The location is excellent, parking was convenient and affordable, the staff was friendly and helpful, our room was comfortable and lovely, and the building is charming. My only complaints, and they are minor, is that the towels were a bit small and scratchy, the breakfast was pretty much just bread and canned fruit, and they kept the door to the... More

I had a very easy stay here, check in and out not a problem. I booked through booking.com so there's that, ensure you check because 16% additional fee was excluded. The street was super loud during my stay, Gastown is an interesting area but it brings along likewise characters. I walked around until 11 by myself and the area is... More

Thanks for taking the time to detail your stay Dupree. I would like to point out a couple of things. Over half of our rooms have large en-suite bathrooms, so please check out our other rooms for your next stay, they are beautiful and still offer the best hotel value in downtown Vancouver, (of course I'm a tad bias). The... More

Staying in Gastown

Neighbourhood Profile
Gastown
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
