In overpriced Vancouver, this hotel is a real find. It's steps from Stanley Park and Lost Lagoon, and though it's only a block from busy Denman Street, the city's garden-like atmosphere ensures that it's a quiet and very pleasant location. Denman offers an excellent choice of restaurants as well as the wonderful Iranian Ayoub store, a Persian fantasy offering every...

I'm more inclined to stay in some of the more heritage buildings, this place has character. It fits the bill if you are looking for a nice quiet spot to stay. You get privacy and cable, and you're in the beautiful West End.

My husband and l stayed at the Buchan Hotel for three nights. We had a standard room with a private bathroom on the third floor. This room had nothing spacial, but sutisfuy our needs. Location is wonderful, a lot restaurants and stores a block away from hotel and Stanley Park just around the corner.

For me, the Buchan Hotel is perfectly located on Haro Street, just off Robson Street and near Stanley Park. The building is old (by Canadian standards) but the rooms and public areas are well maintained; the amenities are basic but adequate. It's perfect for exploring downtown Vancouver, the West End, and Stanley Park. I've stayed here in the past and...

I enjoyed the Buchan, my weekend stay was a wet one but the hotel offered all the benefits in the title plus helpful staff. I recommend the hotel to those seeking a central home base downtown, with a home like ambiance.

Nice staff....basic rooms....great location . This is a very basic hotel. It was probably an apartment building at one time. The staff is always friendly. The rooms are clean but need some new paint and pillows. The location is excellent and that is why I continue to stay here. You are steps from Stanley Park.

I had such a pleasurable experience here. It's located on a lovely street that is near tons of shops and restaurants. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I cannot wait to return and book again with the Buchan Hotel.

Repeat client, location and value can't be beat. Staff always helpful, this is a go to place for vancouver, but if your in need of granite and marble then this is not the place for you. But for nostalgia and an earthy feel book now. Check out the pics on the walls

Had a great stay at the Buchan Hotel, the location is fantastic- close to Stanley Park which has amazing views of The surrounding mountains and the hotel is close to local shops and a short walk into downtown Vancouver. Friendly staff and simple, clean, spacious room- couldn't get much better!

Location good. Accomodations sort of old Motel 8. My room smelled like someone had smoked in it and then some chemical cleaner was used to try cover it. Okay with windows open, but not pleasent. Towels so forth good. Staff fine.

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
