Barclay House has it all – charm, elegance, central location, extraordinary breakfasts, and a personable host, Dennis. The inn is bright, cheerful, and beautifully decorated. Located on a quiet street, it’s only a few short blocks from Robson St., with its boutiques and excellent restaurants. Walk a few more blocks and you’re on the water. The tasty and beautifully presented...

Dennis and Art prepared wonderful breakfasts! They were the consummate hosts!! On the day we were leaving to come home to the states, Dennis checked on the internet to see how long the wait was at the border crossing without our even asking him to do so!! Amazing!

We came across the name of the Barclay House Bed & Breakfast whilst we were surfing for accommodation in Vancouver for four days prior to, and for two days after, our Alaskan cruise. Well, having read the glowing comments on the net about this establishment we concluded that this place was just “too good to be true”. Nevertheless we decided...

We spent 2 nights here at the beginning of a 2 week trip to Canada. We were in the Beach Room which was lovely - spacious, bright and tastefully decorated. The location is superb in the quiet, leafy West End, which is only a very short walk to all the action. We walked along to Denman to hire bikes to...

My boyfriend and I were there for a long weekend stay. The entire B&B is very clean, charming, and conveniently located. We could get to Stanley Park easily without waiting much in traffic. We could walk to places easily (including downtown), and the area has many great restaurants. We had the Peak room for two nights, which is on the...

We spent the last three nights of our honeymoon in the Peak room. Everything about our experience was lovely -- the large room with its skylights, sitting area, wet bar, and claw-footed tub; the inn's front porch and garden, and beautifully decorated sitting and dining rooms; the beautiful tree-lined neighborhood streets...but the best was the hospitality received from host Dennis....

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
