I lived in this residence in undergrad and I can't believe stupid young-me didn't realize how beautiful campus is. The flower bushes overflow, the old buildings give a sense of place... and he ocean's in the backyard. It's clean, quiet, private, transit accessible let, and cheap. All in high demand in this town. That said, the mattresses are made for...

This type of stay is great for people like myself who do not need the frills of a 5 star hotel. The location is hard to beat. The place can be a bit busy in the summer months with summer camps for youth and such. However, the dorm area for visitors is always quiet.

I had such a fantastic stay at this facility! The front desk and cleaning staff were courteous and professional, the amenities were just what I needed, it's incredibly affordable, and the location is amazing. It's a private dorm room right in the heart of UBC campus, surrounded by tall cedars and a stone's throw from the forest and Wreck Beach....

One of the finest place to stay with a low budget. I am now here on a short trip to UBC and writing this review. If you are alone this is the best place with minimum charges. Single rooms and well equipped. Has a microwave and fridge in the common area of the kitchen. I love it!

All visitors go to the Mackenzie building. The others are for summer camp participants. The hostel is open for reservation only during the summer. Note: my rating is so high as I stay in a hostel during the school semester, so I'm used to sharing a bathroom and to the noise that comes through thin walls. If you have never...

After researching This hostel it seemed like a perfect spot on my stop tofino.. I didn't call in advance because I knew I'd be in Vancouver at a decent time. Arrived at 9 o'clock at night called the number off of Google for this hostel. Only to be told by a very rude receptionist that the hostel is currently being...

I stayed at Vanier Residence for about 3 weeks. I have stayed at UBC in the past in the Gage residence which I do prefer both for location and set up and working kitchen. Those were all booked so I took a room here. Basic enough and clean . No issues with that. Floors are divided washrooms Male on odd...

I rent a single room for three nights here. My experience was wonderful. I paid about 33 CAD for each night. If you understand the prevailing price of a single room in a hotel in Vancouver, it is very expensive. If you go for other hostels near downtown, security may be an issue. Therefore, overall, for a female solo traveler,...

I stayed here for 4 nights recently. Wish that I had known about this last year. I would have saved a bundle of money. I stayed with my partner in a small dormitory room. It was very quiet and once again affordable. It was about $35.00 plus tax minus 10% from my Hostelling International Card. In my opinion this is...

I spend about a week each June at the Vancouver International Song Institute, which takes place on the UBC campus. Since lodging costs for that length of time can really add up, I am willing to make the tradeoff between price and luxury. It is indeed a dorm room, and the single rooms I've had are quite small, and of...

“If it busy you won't have much choice on room but they may be able to get you a bit closer to a washroom or not opposite the lounge if you like xtra quite. ask how close the washroom if it matters. They seem to choose the building..there are maybe 10 different "residences". if you ant peak summer booking best to book well ahead especially if for a longer term stay.”

“They separate male and female's bathrooms on different floors. Therefore, you should ask for a room such that on the same floor there are bathrooms you can access. Please be noted that you need to share the bathrooms and toilets with others in your gender; however, the bathrooms are super clean.”
