When searching for a hotel in Vancouver for my upcoming vacation, I ran across Skwachays Lodge. What a unique place this is, and quite the hidden gem in Vancouver! The room was extremely comfortable, very uniquely decorated, and very functional. We even had a balcony with a door we could leave open for comfortable sleeping weather. The breakfast area was...

Great staycation spot with beautifully designed rooms and a great, cozy living-room-like lounge with a fireplace and commune table you can entertain guests in. All this while being able to get closer to our heritage and revel in the beauty of First Nations art is a special experience.

Any room would be great in this hotel. Great staff, wonderful food, awesome room and there is a sweat lodge that you can book for a private ceremony and a smudge room. The location is only short walking distance to Rogers Arena and BC Place. An art gallery is connected to the hotel. Can't wait to go back.

Our room was absolutely beautiful...loved the design and little touches everywhere. Beds and linens are comfy, robes are a treat, good natural bath products - a room you want to lounge around in! Convenient location, a very short walk to Gastown. Agreed, there are a number of homeless you'll cross in the vicinity, but if you know beforehand what to...

Clean and friendly. The location is central to everything and in a very hip, although up and coming, neighborhood. The rooms were quiet and they had fast internet and TV. Having a gallery available was an added treat as was the complimentary breakfast in the morning. Overall would stay here again.

This place was very clean, friendly staff, and nicely decorated with First Nations Art Work. Parking was great! The only improvement they need to make is their entrance. At night you have to go through a back alley way and enter via a back door. Lighting in the Ally Way is dim. They should have a front entrance.

Access to the hotel after hours can always be done via the front entrance at 31 W Pender St. although you are correct that access from the underground garage can only be done via the back lane after hours. I have had our maintenance team clean the laneway light fixtures and place light bulbs which has greatly improved the lighting...

Staying in Gastown

Neighbourhood Profile
Gastown
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
