I stayed here for 1 night in a 2 bed shared room. The room was tiny but was clean. The door to the female bathroom didn't close and they are located in a busy hallway next to the stairs so I felt pretty exposed. I've stayed in plenty of hostels and usually you need a key or a code to... More

Firstly, the location and staff were 10/10 It's attached to a pretty friendly bar and a Mexican restaurant. Which is your only social location, which is all open as separate businesses. Rooms were average, very basic but again, it's cheap! If there was an area for the customers staying at the hostel to chill out beside the pub or restaurant... More

I stayed 4 nights in september in the cambie hostel and I've really just been using it as somewhere to sleep. Don't expect glitz and glamour, your room will only have a bed and a table but its comfortable and clean enough. The bathroom situation isn't ideal but its managable. As for the bedbugs which seem to be mentioned a... More

On arrival I did feel that the level on cleanliness in this hostel was lacking but the last thing I expected was to find bed bugs in my room. The situation was poorly dealt with by staff, I spoke to 3 on the night of the incident and only one of them had the decency to apologize to me. I... More

If you are going there to just crash and you are staying up late drinking it's fine. We got there jet lagged and were due to get up at 6 for whale watching. We were 1st floor above the bar (more like a club) so were kept up until 3 with loud music and the base. Now as I say... More

The good: + Centrally located, just a few blocks from the waterfront and major attractions. Very friendly guy on reception and location is really close to the downtown area. Everything at your fingertips. Not the flashiest hostel we have stayed in (actually probably the least) but considering its location, it's worth a 3 rating. $67cad for a private room. Would I stay here again? Yes, it's the cheapest place by far in this area!!

I just spent 3 nights at this location and have come home with bites on my arms, neck and hands.Bed Bugs for sure. The hostel was okay, and the price was right, but nothing is worth the hassle that I will now have to go through to make sure that these bugs are not in my home!

This hostel is not right on Vancouver "main" street but is a great location. Is around 10min walking to Granville, Robson, Georgia or Waterfront and even closer to Gas town. Breakfast included, 2 bunk beds room. The best price at my time there.

Staying in Gastown

Neighbourhood Profile
Gastown
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
